Great video! Would love more content like this!
A few names for me would be Jimmy Raney, Martijn van Iterson, Jesse van Ruller, Yves Brouqui, Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, Sam Kirmayer, Joe Cohn, Joe Pass. A mix of current and traditional players

Fantastic! Your list is stellar. Mention of Howard Roberts is spot-on, too.

Great list! There’s just so many it’s hard to choose . I love every single one of them that you picked. I love Pat Martino. I would have to say Wes and Joe would be my top two. Billy Bauer who I studied with for a couple of years when I grew up on Long Island is right up there also.

My all time favorite is The Great Kenny Burrell ! Have a listen to his solo on I’ll Close My Eyes from Jimmy Smith’s Verve album Organ Grinder Swing. Probably the most sublime recorded guitar ever . He has quite a discography … all spectacular !

I don’t have a comment about the list but can I second the idea of a solo Bruce Forman record in the style of the Joe Pass Virtuoso albums. Just a room mic a set list and let the magic happen

Jim Hall, Wes, Lenny Breau, Joe Pass, John Mclaughlin, Bill Frisell, Ed Bickert, Pat Martino, Joe Diorio, Ted Greene (no particular order). Also, completely agree with your assessment of Wes’ playing, well said.

Great list! I didn’t include John McLaughlin because I plan to do a “fusion” top 10 at some point as well, but he is a constant source of inspiration for me! I saw him last year with Shakti and was just blown away by how amazing he still is.

@@mbacarellaguitar Thanks brother you too! Mclaughlin’s diversity and pallet is wild! My favorite playing of his is his work on Miles’ Silent Way and Bitches Brew. His solo acoustic My Goal’s Beyond and Mahavishnu’s first album were seminal for me too. The moment I heard the opening of Meeting of the Spirits with those giant chords and the way he rips through that solo was life changing. It opened up a whole new world and made me rethink everything about what music could be. That got me into jazz rock which eventually led me to Jim Hall and the traditional stuff. I know you had a similar experience with getting into Al Di Meola.

They're all great but two glaring omissions: Django Reinhardt & Pat Martino.
