Just found your channel and saw multiple videos already. I'm currently in a cross roads with my career where I'm trying to figure out a new path, moving from a tech expert in Hopex to a more larger expertise with a much more available opportunities. Your videos definitely helped me better understand what a solution architect is. Thank you
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! I'm thrilled to hear that you discovered my channel and have already watched multiple videos. It's always exciting to connect with new viewers 💪🏻 Your determination in seeking a larger expertise is inspiring! I wish you the best of luck as you navigate this transition and find the path that resonates with your passions and goals.
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! Your appreciation means a lot to me. It's always rewarding to know that my work resonates with the community!
hey ilyas, i work as a CSA/DevOps engineer in Sweden. and i would suggest you to make a video where you interview people in the cloud field but in different countrys. Based on all the youtube videos i've seen there is big difference between how people work with cloud in different countrys, everything from cloud provider of choice, to technologies and job market
@iLyas in the cloud yea it was nice to hear about consulting companies like deloitte and Accenture as I was thinking of getting into these companies. Do you know how crazy interview process is for Cloud Engineer / DevOps is or any material to help with interview process?
Hi Ilyas, thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience. I have one question regarding specializations. I see the point in specializing in a specific area. What do you think are typical cloud roles ? For example, you landed a position as a Cloud Infrastructure Architect. What about a Cloud Application Architect, Cloud Security Architect,... Would be super interesting to read your your thoughts on 5hat 😊
Hello (from mtl) Elyas! thanks for the insight. I was recently in the hiring process (fullstack consultant 7yrs) and got to very similar conclusions to you. Thanks for phrasing it so well. I'm actually looking for ways i can specialize; I've already been told I'm too much of a generalist. Haven't decided yet though..
Best of luck my friend and keep safe from the smog! If I was in your case I think I’d look to specialize in building AI apps using my full stack experience and frameworks like LangChain. I see a ton of job posting about AI dev lately. Just an idea
To me, it's more about your learning N4. What is the value behind the problems you solve. And money talks, nothing better than monetizing your previous or present ROI by sharing concrete metrics you were/are able to improve. If it's DORA metrics even better...Understand it, digest it, monetize it. And then know how sell it....(Je ne crois pas au titres de roles, je crois á la maturité du retour d'experience et la densité ressentie quand on échange avec nos paires sur un sujet bien précis. Surtout avec nos clients, qu'ils soient internes ou externes. Et toujours avoir comme armes: empathie, écoute active, et partage...Great content, Thanks, iLyas!
Great video ! Quick question: how do you represent your previous job title in your resume or LinkedIn profile? I mean someone may be doing a slightly broad role than their current job title ? May be a video on this topic please!
Talking about various job paths in the cloud and their requirements is a video I'm currently actively working on, so expect that soon. As for your first question, I don't think there are any entry jobs for an infrastructure Architect position but a good way to position yourself for it down the road is to start in DevOps
As a security specialist, Do you belive shooting or publishing video of companies that specialize in security, especially at 16:30min where you can clearly see internal company notes on written on the wall?
I had to go back to the office and double check that I didn’t publish anything sensitive 😅 thank you for pointing it out but I can confirm now that nothing sensitive is written on the wall Btw, what kind of content are you interested in as a security specialist? 🤔
Awesome content, as always! Ilyas, are you still offering career consulting? I recall you had a service but I noticed that you did not include the link for it in this video? Please let me know. Thank you
@@WinTheCloud This is really interesting, but I don't think it's right at this time. It seems it created more for existing IT professionals, not for people like me who have zero experience in IT, but are very interested in pursuing a career in cloud. I'm still studying for my AWS associate exam.
Of course! I care very much about my reputation, so I wouldn't want to be "fake" in any way. Thank you for watching! (And don't forget to give the video a thumbs up - if you haven't already 🙏🏻)
Hey there, I mostly look for meetups and then connect with people once on site 🤷🏻♂️ Are you in Montreal as well? What kind of startups are you looking for?
@@WinTheCloud Yes, I am a 514 too. I love your content. I am looking for new challenges and looking to find people in need of IT expertise (I can almost build anything at the software backend). I love the startup challenges. Thanks for the advice. I bet that if you do a mtl meetup, you will have a lot of us going in.
Ilyas on behalf of myself and I am sure millions of others around the world. I humbly say thank you for the video titled "Cloud Career Change Lessons From My recent Job Search", This is the best that any content creator I have come around has shared, most are so busy selling how to become a solutions Architect and reality is that, that field is flooded already. I also decided to focus on Cybersecurity, Networking and Infrastructure and I must confess I prefer Terraform HCL and CDKTF to Amazon equivalents. Yes you are absolutely correct and again one prediction I will make is that AWS will suffer most of the three main clouds, Google GCP Cloud will flourish if Google make some noise about their cloud like Amazon AWS does. There will be a lot of repatriation from AWS Cloud back to On-premise and most will switch to Google GCP and a few will switch to AZURE, but Hybrid Cloud adoption will be on the rise the next 3 years. As always Captain, thank you for your very thoughtful videos.
Thank you Arthur for watching! and I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts as well. I can't predict the future, but I definitely started already seeing a move from organizations towards getting control over their data and bringing it back to on-prem. if AWS wants to stay ahead, they need to do something about it. Because as you mentioned Azure and GCP are very well positioned to capitalize on the AI boom we're seeing recently, AWS, not so much. Only time will tell though
@@WinTheCloud Greetings Ilyas. I believe AWS is laying emphasis on building out data centers for the Federal Government. If they slack off on AI. It will bite them badly. Well like you said we can tell the future but to some extent we can help mold it. Have a great weekend
I consider this RUclips channel as freelancing, I also run my signature program on the side SA Magic winthe.cloud/the-solution-architect-accelerator-program/ which takes a lot of my time. Is it ready for me to do RUclips full time? Maybe when I have 500k followers 😅 but for now I'm loosing more money on RUclips than I'm making, so it wouldn't be a good career move haha

- Infrastructure / DevOps
- Serverless / Containers
