As a former Ohioan, it's sad to see that the wrestling team is being cut AGAIN after 9 yrs. I remember everyone fighting so hard to get it back. Hopefully, those kids find new homes to go to. Whenever a college loses a wrestling team, the more the sport suffers 😢
The difference between now and 10 years ago is that Universities costs are going up and their overall enrollment is going down. This is not just about sports. Entire universities are closing down as the Student Loans crisis has made the ROI in getting a degree isn’t as clear as it used to be.
Save Cleveland State wrestling! It's really sad because wrestling is the greatest sport, and Cleveland State might not be a powerhouse, but a lot of local kids(state place winners) get a chance to wrestle at a d1 program. It's especially sad that this is happening in Ohio.

They just need to pay for singlets, flight tickets, and coaches. It's really not that expensive. The only issue is d1 colleges think a wrestling team should be a self sustaining, self funded, company, instead of a sports team. We have highschools flying wrestling teams around the country but a d1 university says it's too expensive. This is bs

Regarding Lilledahl. Right on with the Van Ness comparison. As I recall, Van Ness struggled with scoring and then was a totally different wrestler in NCAAs
When there is such a massive difference between the top team and then have 2-3 others that can compete with each other with the rest nowhere near the level is horrible for the sport. How can these smaller schools really compete with Penn State when they have personal chefs and trainers with all the best equipment and facilities. It makes it impossible for 99% to be able to compete 😢
