  • Hello dear friends!
I decided to make my own leaf molds from imprints of natural leaves. But I realized that it is unlikely that I will use them, since the leaf stamps are quite large for my miniature)) But I filmed everything on video and spent a lot of time, so I will show you the process. Maybe you will find something useful for yourself :))
So, I found several types of leaves from which I will remove stamps. I decided to go the long way and make polymer clay stamps first to create deeper veins on the leaves and then make the stamps in silicone.
I rolled out fimo polymer clay and pressed the leaves. I use glass on which I will bake.
With a needle I draw deeper veins and add a few new ones. (By the way, I realized that I should have drawn even more veins between the veins😀😅)
I cut along the contours and bake.
These prints turned out to be quite flexible. By the way, about 7 years ago I used just such a print of leaves from polymer clay. This is not very convenient, since the clay constantly stuck to this mold. At the end of the video I will show you a short video of how I used these polymer clay molds.
Next, I roll out the clay again and make a reverse stamp. So that the leaf veins are convex.
And I bake it the same way.
I use silicone paste. I measure out equal proportions and mix. There is little time, as the silicone begins to harden quickly. You cannot knead the silicone very actively, as air bubbles get trapped and the future mold may end up with a defect. I roll out the layer and make prints.
In the process, I realized that it is better to make a separate mold for each stamp, since it is very difficult to cut off excess parts of silicone on a large layer. But nevertheless I cut it off))
After about 40 minutes I started removing the stamps from the silicone.
I used scissors to even out the edges.
Silicone molds turned out to be very flexible and it is much easier to remove clay with them. I pry it a little with a knife if the clay is stuck too much.
It will be convenient to use leaf cutters rather than cutting by hand. And then make a stamp on the silicone mold.
These sizes of molds are perfect for miniature cabbage. For indoor plants (some), for pumpkin leaves. For stamping on miniature dishes. And other ideas may also appear if you think carefully)))
At the end of a little experiment with a polymer clay stamp, I had to completely roll the sheet in flour to prevent it from sticking. This stamp can also be used, especially when there is no money for silicone paste. It's expensive, of course🥹At the end I put the leaf in the water, but it's better not to do that. The quality of the sheet deteriorates. It is better to remove the flour after baking or with a brush before baking.

And the most fun comes from poking around the yard for interesting leaves!
