I really like how The Glass Abyss reintroduced elements of the old EU like Del Gormo and the Holodroid like PROXY. It's a good way to make the Canon more flexible in terms of storytelling. Not everything has to be set in stone according to timelines for it to be a fun adventure. Hoping we see more of this flexibility in more books going forward.
Maybe Yoda's species has a form of 'imprinting', like with birds. If Yoda was Grogu's age at the time of the crash, then being essentially 'raised' by N'Kata could've meant he imprinted on Yoda and so that way of speaking was more than just honouring his master. Until proven otherwise, I think this will be my headcanon 'cause I like the the idea of Grogu saying in a gruff manner with helmet modulated tones, despite not wearing a helmet, "This is the way."
Yeah I was scared they would reveal more stuff about his species with Grogu, but I’m glad they haven’t. We should never learn where they are from or what their home planet is.
I have posted about this idea for years. If fans want to see Legends canon come to life on the small screen, then one very good way to do it would be as an animated series. The series would simply present the material as entertainment on the Holonet. In the spirit of recent animated content, you could name the series “Tales from the Holoonet”.
I think it would be neat if Yoda spoke another language at first, and speaks this way because he learned Basic from his master, who spoke that way. It makes a lot more sense than just altering your speech pattern effectively because you want to.
I kind of hope we don’t get a story about Yoda’s early days. It would take away a lot of the mystery of the character and that’s a big part of what makes him special. I personally like the idea of Yoda picking up his speech patterns from his master, but I know if they ever put that in an official story people would be rolling their eyes and complaining, so it’s probably better to just leave it a mystery.
im pretty sure i read in one book that yoda speaks this way to be more approachable for the very young younglings but for the life of me i cant remember where i read it orr even if i might have fabricated that memory...
Yoda is one of my all time favourite Star Wars characters but I hope he largely remains mysterious because that's part of his appeal but I love getting little tidbits like this about his history, building up the mythos around the character. I think that works great. Personally, I think Yoda's out of order dialect is due to his species and maybe Yaddle didn't spend as much time with their people as Yoda did so she learned Basic in the conventional way, that's how I headcanon the differences between them but I do like Dave's explanation as a reason as well about Yoda choosing to talk that way to honor his Jedi Master. I don't think it really should be definitively stated but I do like it as an alternative.
You do realize that many parts of the old EU are blatantly contradicted by the new canon, even if you stick to just the 5 new movies to date, don't you? Heck, they rewrote Han's/Leia's family and erased Luke's family! Even the ysalamiri are now contradicted mythology-wise.
It might be better that they don't. Else, they could do things that would displease Legends fans. But if they decided to bring back Legends, I think that Canon should stay the main universe and that they should make stories for both. Sometimes for Legends, sometimes for Canon.
As someone born in 1996, hearing "Nearly three decades later" made my heart sink 😅😭
As someone born in '73, seeing someone saying they were born in '96 makes me feel the same way. But...we're all Star Wars fans. Yay!
Why do people react like this as if they're 70 ?
Tell me about it, I was born in 1998 here and whenever I hear that, I have to go "EXCUSE ME"😅
@@BensBrickDesignshell yes
1978. Saw Return of the Jedi in theaters and barely remembered it except for remembering crying when Yoda died

Also tons of references to Mace's Vaapad lightsaber form!
@Solo13508 Yes! So nice to have that stuff again in the book! It's a great companion peice next to Shatterpoint.

Part of the legend is that his master also started a brand of famous space pizza.
Did that lead to the mutation of Pizza the Hutt?
Theres delivery and then there’s DelGormo
Could you be a little quieter with the whole “three decades later” from 1996 please? 🤣🤣🤣 but any info we get about Yoda is always an unexpected treat!
A surprise to be sure but a welcome one
Hopefully they won't give too much detail about Yoda's origins, the mystery surrounding him is part of what makes him an interesting character

Good to see this nugget of knowledge return to Canon.
Honestly, I wasn’t aware this fella went anywhere

I’ve loved a lot of Bryce Dallas Howard’s work… when she joined the Star Wars family I was so excited… then later became the voice of Yaddle - 👍🏽
That's so cool! I always loved the hysalrian design

I always thought Yoda, and his master, spoke that way because it more holds the attention of younglings (which we all are to him)
Wish they would make Yoda’s homeworld / species canon!
"Yoda was a bit slippery..."
Huh
This is Awesome!!!
Interesting.👍🏻

Somone said that Yoda speaks backwards so people will pay attention to him.
1:54 🤬🤬 calm down with the three decade man.
👴
Good to know.

Such a strange inclusion! A very deep cut.
I wish they would just give us the full backstory of Yoda already.
Apparently, it was at Lucas’ request that Yoda’s origins remain a mystery.
Yoda was a stinkin' drunk on Dagoba.
OH MY GOD! GLUB SHITTO IS BACK!
We can’t keep caring about “legends” being made “cannon”
Three decades later made a bunch of y'all feel old eh? Can't relate. 22.
So tell me Star Wars explained how much stuff can become from Legends to Canon once again, how much?
Thanks, Alex! *⃣
Click bait. Lame
How is this clickbait?😮
Even 3 minutes of you talking is unbearable and boring I'll just google this is info
🫵🤓
Don't watch then?
Would be more simple to bring back the old EU at this point...
