never done that before, but as it works for AE and Cinema4d, I guess you could extract the camera in one of those programs and it should work just fine!
Hi, thanks for this great tutorial. May I ask why you copied and pasted the position points instead of pick whipping them to the null / does whipping them to the null do the same thing?
Thanks for the tut! I have a question, what happens when there is a moving object like a person in the shot? because in my case the 3D camera tracker is basically tracking the person and leaving BG tracking points un-analized
Hey! Another thing you can do is to skip through the video, when the tracking is done, and delete the markers (colored crosses) that appear on the moving object! In the "advanced" tab you can even choose, that they will be deleted throughout the whole clip! after that it will re analyze automatically! And you can select multiple crosses at once with the lasso tool (it will be the lasso tool by default)
Love your tut and subscribed! I am trying to follow step by step in my own project and I keep losing view of second layer (the equivalent of the postcard in your example) after I create the solid and camera on the three track points. It just disappears. If I take 3D off it comes back. But it needs to be 3D so that doesn’t help. 2-view shows a huge cluster way off camera and I figure that’s why i lose the view but I don’t know how to get it back. Thank you for help!
Hey, looks like its 3D position is simply outside of your viewport! Try to zoom out. Or create a null object out of a tracking marker (right click on it) and paste that position onto your layer! Let me know if that solves the issue!!
@@flo.motion Thank you for such a quick reply! That was correct, and I was able to locate it. I'm wondering why the layer is moving so far off camera when I copy/paste a tracking marker's position?
Can you tell me the basics of the start of the video where you just drop into the editor from the video.. i know its simple but id like to understand how you did it 👍
you mean when I zoom into after effects? Well I have the screen recorded and have the video within the screen at the place where it should be in the After Effects window. Then i simply parent the recording to the video and scale the video up to be full screen! Now i can play it in fullscreen and when i keyframe the video to become smaller the AE window appears! Does that make sense?
Hey, I am trying to use "Track Camera" in After Effects 2021, It's showing 'Analyasis Solve Failed', Help me please. I am not doing anything else. I just drag the clip, open tracker and hit Track Camera, after like 5 minutes or so, it shows the Analysis Solve Failed. I am new to After Effects, I don't know anything about it. PLEASE HELP ME!
Hey! What kind of shot are you trying to 3d track? For the After Effects tracker you need to be aware of two things: first, you need to have some parallax within the shot, so the tracker can guess or calculate some depth information. And second, it is best to have as less as possible movement within the shot. SO you can move the camera, but no moving people or cars within the shot. Having that said there are four ways to get your track to work! 1. Try detailed analysis! 2. Of there is something moving within the shot, roto it out first. 3. If you don't have enough parallax in the shot, so maybe a nodal shot, there is an option for a nodal solution! 4. Go through the tracked shot and remove all tracking markers(colored crosses) that seem to be wrong! Let me know if that helped!!
@@flo.motion @1:24 when you say the word "subscribe" the actual subscribe button glows if anyone hasn't subscribed to you. I think it's just a new RUclips feature. try this with someone's ele's account who is not subscribed to you, i'm also on PC
Hey, whenever you want to achieve a practical interaction, you need to do it for real. Either you have the photo hanging on a string and paint out the string, or you have "something" with tracking markers, where you can attach the photo to later on. BUT you have to have something already in the shot that you can physically touch!

Hi, thanks for this great tutorial. May I ask why you copied and pasted the position points instead of pick whipping them to the null / does whipping them to the null do the same thing?
Pigwhipping them should do the same thing! And you can easily reposition later, which is not that easy when you have to move many keyframes at once!

Draw a rough mask around your moving subject and set the mask to subtract. Retrack the camera and it'll ignore everything inside the subtract mask.
