Roads like Rivers give one a sense of freedom. We Americans love the RV. We pull our boats behind our RV's. We have caravans of RV's that follow one another to different camp grounds. Norther's come south during the winter for the warmer weather. We southerners call them snow birds. Some people live in their RV's year round, traveling around the country working when they can and seeing this Big country. One can cross four states before another can cross Texas in a day. Keep your video's coming . I enjoy them.

It was actually Exploring Alternatives that led me to your channel. I was trapped at home during Covid and devouring RUclips content about travel and getting away from it all as a means of coping. I've watched the vast majority of your videos and now I'm going back through them all from the start. Imagine my surprise when I found this video that mentions the very thing that led me here!

Hello David. Recently came to your channel and busy playing catch up; loving it I must say. Don't know if you've done it yet, but you must get some merchandise done up; 'Hello and welcome to the vlog' on your coffee mug has got to be a winner! I will definitely check out the channels you have posted. These long winter evenings need something good to fill them!
Working on making my videos better. Original, interesting content is sometimes hard to come buy but I'll keep trying. Not sailing the Caribbean with a beautiful woman, just local sailing with friends is what I have.

I had a giggle listening to you describe RVing in the US because it sounded like me describing narrowboating in the UK. :D I discovered narrowboating during a 2016 trip to the UK (right after I bought a vintage Airstream that I started living in when we returned) and have been planning to someday live aboard abroad with my kids since.
I very recently discovered sailing vlogs (Sailing Britatly was the first and still my favorite) which inspired me to add sailing the world and vlogging to my dreams. I'm very selective about the channels I subscribe to, having very little free time, and always appreciate recommendations from channels I watch.

Great vlog. I recommend to you Adventures of an Old Seadog a retired sailing Brit from Plymouth who is currently in the Pacific. Secondly Tula's Endless Summer a young couple and their dog living on a catamaran one of my essential watches on cold miserable days. One of the items you can pick up at the "Tula's" store is a t-shirt with the phrase "Don't Give Up your Daydream" I can relate to that sentiment. We Americans don't have big RVs they are just proportionate, bigger country you know. LOL

I follow Madds channel. Every vidio of him hitting the high sea's and he get debilitatingly sick! But all narrow boaters should see his DIY projects. Especially refrigeration.

You might like to have a look at NZBusLife - a young couple who have completely refitted an old school bus - and travel the country with their two delightful young children. Fabulous shots of all over New Zealand as well as lots of stuff about the refitting process and life on the road etc. Andy, the husband had no experience of DIY when he started and made a beautiful job of the bus. I really enjoy them. Thanks for the other suggestions! Love your vlog style by the way and gradually working my way through them. (Mrs. L)

Hi David love your channel, found you through exploring alternatives and have since found other narrowboat channels via yours. I've noticed that you clearly love animals, wondered why you don't have a dog or cat on board, tho judging by all the fuss NB exp have maybe you are wise. Merry Christmas

    • @CruisingTheCut
      @CruisingTheCut  7 лет назад

Hi. Thanks. Animals are quite costly (food/flea treatment/annual jabs/insurance etc). I'd also worry too much. Easier to borrow other people's!

Huntley film archives has some very interesting and very early (horse drawn and steam power) U.K. Canal boating films , worth a look. I find your subdued sense of humor brilliant by the way .....

Good evening. I came across your Cruise the cut well watching Sailing Life and I am now a subscriber. I have a Moody 34 sailing boat
and also have my own channel which I have just started. Don’t worry I’m not going to ask you to plug it, as I am still finding my feet. I just wanted to say hi and I always look forward to your Vlog. I am cruising the cut next year round the midland with my Father who is 88 and family. so might see you out there. Merry Christmas

Aha David's secret is finally revealed. He's previously said that he moors up in a marina over the winter months basically to avoid the bad / cold weather here in the UK. In fact now we all know it's purely so that he can hunker down next to his stove & watch all those bloomin' RUclips vlogs that he's clearly subscribed to !! Fuelled of course by many cheese sarnies (that's 'sandwiches' to our N American "cousins" !!) and cups of tea - and no doubt the occasional G & T !!

Totally agree on your sailing choices. Three of my favourite channels. I will also check out the RV ones - not an area I have ever really looked at. Given your choices is there a possibility that you might move from the canals to sailing or RV'ing at some point in the future? And, of course, sailing would be the correct choice.

Oooh, no! I get queasy even in a mild swell and I'm not partial to heeling over. It would be the RV for me! (sorry)

May I suggest, although you might already know about it, Fun For Louis who is a British traveller along with a great team called Live The Adventure. Very professional style of filming giving a great insight into travelling the world and seeking out adventures away from the usual touristy bits.

@@CruisingTheCut I recently discovered your channel and have been binge watching from Vlog #1 (in order, of course). :) I used to have a sail boat on the Chesapeake Bay (Eastern US) and frankly miss boating painfully. I'm not sure I'm young enough any more to live aboard, but I certainly enjoy doing it vicariously through you.

One channel I really like is Cruising Lealea, a retired couple living on and refurbishing their 27 foot albin vega sailboat in alaska. And there's Life Is Like Sailing, a single guy living aboard his C&C 34 sailboat on the coast of british columbia.

Just woke up an hour ago to minus 1 degree F. Windchill minus 17! Brrrrrrrr!! I do pray your not going through the cold spell we have here in Derry, New Hampshire USA. The cold isn't really bad it's the blasted wind. The nice thing is their forecasting the temp to be 50 degrees in two days! I'll take the 50 degrees by all means.
I keep wondering if I'll come across St Nick some evening soon.
    Merry Christmas
    Stay warm
    Cheers

It's quite mild here at present; around 10 (Celsius) daytime, 3-4C overnight. The worst we've had this winter was about -9C a couple of weeks ago. I hope you have a roaring fire to keep your spirits up!

Mads from Sail Life is the one that put me onto your channel, and I'm glad he did. I totally agree, once he finishes Athena I think he will buy another boat and start over.
I'm going to check out some channels such as VDub, as I like little campers or caravans and not the big RV's. When I retire I think I'll get a truck with a caravan or a little sail boat.

It's the Rode Filmmaker kit (wireless lavalier). Full kit list at the bottom of the recent video descriptions.

Very cool thanks. I use the video mic to go but it is not a wireless lavaliere.
