How to Paint this Tie Dye Skateboard Deck

- I take you step by step in this video on how I painted this skateboard deck. It was an idea I had and there was an upcoming custom paint skate deck competition, so perfect time to experiment with my idea. And it worked as I had envisioned. Really turned out amaZing! Even the legendary Jon Kosmoski (kreator of House of Kolor) was blow away by this and took it out of my handZ and went and showed it off to a group of students and some HOK reps. Truly one of my favorite pieceZ I'm done to date. I would really like to do this on a motorcycle or car hood one day. So if you or someone you know would like this done on something, hit me up at any of my contact linkZ at the bottom of this description. THANKZ!!!
Until the next one, keep those brusheZ strokin'!!!

ThankZ🤘🏻 Would love to see how it turnZ out when ya try it!
I now believe in parallel thinking! I was watching Adam on TimeWarp laying some leaf a couple of months ago. First, I wondered if DUX could be thinned and airbrushed on. Then, I wondered if 3000 or 5000 grit could be used to make a pattern (herringbone or braid) along like a 2 inch wide strip. Haven't tried it yet because I'm not set up and busy with other projects. You have answered both questions BEAUTIFULLY!!! I subbed and will spread the word. Also wanted to know what airbrush that is, and what nozzle/ needle you're using. Thanks!!!
Awesome! Glad I could help answer some questions u had. I was using my Iwata Eclipse airbrush with a .35 needle/nozzle. And to also answer ur making a pattern on a strip, please check out my creation: ZD FlipZ here: ruclips.net/video/3R_11yPJr1w/видео.htmlsi=mGdUikSh-xPj_8Gt
PS- I asked Adam if he wanted to try out my ZD FlipZ and to possibly sell on his site, but wasn’t interested, too busy.
Wow. I watched with audio off but I really want to try this. Would this work on a prop helmet ? I'm wondering if there would be adhesion issues between layers. Are lacquer based paints best suited for this application? My workflow is currently all createx > uv clean armor to finish.
ThankZ! And I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. I’ve done it with Createx and currently working on something with this technique and Createx. I prefer Createx. I only used Tamco/solvent because this deck was for a Tamco contest so had to use it.
@@BrusHstroKeZ Ah I see. I was mainly concerned since the DUX is oil based , if it would have a weird reaction to plastic or waterbased paint like createx.
@@antisocialpictures4784 No, doesn’t have any sort of reaction, as long as ur Createx is dry. I’ve leafed directly on Createx with it. AND, I spoke to the owner/creator of Clean Armor. He said to heat up ur product to 80° or so first before spraying. Said it seems to eliminate the pock marks. Haven’t had a chance to try yet, but excited to!!!
@antisocialpictures4784 if you're concerned, try LimeLine sprayable sizing. It's water based, and works great under ANY paint. Look for it on the google.
