  • Ever get something in your mailbox you were just not expecting? Yep, it happened to me yesterday. Watch as I unopen a completely unexpected gift coin and what could be a sea change moment in numismatics: The introduction of the Certified Acceptance Corporation (CAC) coin holder, or slab.
Edited to add: For those wondering, the CAC slab does work with Intercept Shield / Leuchtturm double protection boxes. They're tight, but they fit.

With their more stringent (and consistent) standards, CAC will have an immediate impact and take a noticeable chunk of PCGS' & NGC's market share. CAC's slabs look decent and appear to be tougher than their competitor's as well.
My only gripe with Albanese is his refusal to accept older holders from ICG (specifically green labels) and the ANACS "soapbox" holders. I dare anyone to look at those soapbox holders (especially the first gen ANA versions) and tell me that the majority of them aren't conservatively graded when compared to PCGS & NGC's standards? Just look at their success rates when crossed over......enough said.

Excellent comments. Frankly I think CAC should consider all legit vintage slabs!

Also CAC website says that all coins they slab will have the green sticker automatically. Does anyone else see how that’s wrong.

For CAC to place a sticker they need to see all coins to compare. I think the CAC sticker is not of importance

Retail values disagree with you. Having a CAC sticker increases the sale price 30% on average. But it may not make a difference: CAC is phasing out stickering in favor of their own grading service now. Stickers may soon be a thing of the past. Watch my upcoming video on collectible slabs for more info!

@@Dub-C_Coins grading is perception of the beholder. A coin can be graded by NGC PCGS or CAC and have same grade or off. I been collecting for 30 years my perception of a coin can be different from yours or vice versa. So these grading companies exist on retail believers. Which company is better I’ll tell you the truth, most people send their coins to which ever is closest to them. I live in the west coast so I send to PCGS. So If I ever move to East coast I’ll send to NGC or CAC. And that sticker was just a marketing to get followers and now that they have followers now they will start there on grading and get rid of the stickers. How long you been collecting?

With the current silver to gold ratio at 83 to 1 should one be accumulating more silver and when would it change in favor of gold or silver. Thanks for your informative videos.

It's a really interesting question. When I was a kid (talking about an early teen) I realized the historic ratio had essentially always been 20 to 1: One silver dollar was essentially the same weight as one $20 gold piece. Or 20 silver to 1 gold. And I've kept pretty close to that ratio ever since. But I don't really do the whole selling silver to buy gold or vice versa. I just keep stacking as my ability increases. Right now gold and silver both seem overvalued. Less than $20 silver--including premium--makes sense to me. And gold seems like it should be in the $1400 range. Honestly, I think Platinum is a really good buy right now. But you didn't hear it from me :)

Platinum seems contrarian but practical given how and where it’s sourced and how China has stockpiled a very large amount.

On the other hand: Platinum and palladium shot up in part because of their use in catalytic converters. With the proliferation of electric vehicles and new technologies, the platinum group metals may drop and drop hard in the future. But I like betting on my hunches. And I like knowing I've got a ratio and a variety of precious metals, too.

You mean the one I called an MS65? ;)
Part of the permanent collection. But these really aren't that expensive. Many on eBay right now for about $475!

@@Dub-C_Coins? I don’t see the part where you called it a 65. There are plenty of boring 66’s …… yours isn’t. Well if you ever want to sell it and make some good profit, reach out! ☮️
