    I still think that the NEW Super Mario Bros. series could MASSIVELY benefit from implementing Wario & Waluigi instead of the Generic-Unnamed Blue & Yellow Toads.
    Here me out here:
    What if each character in NEW Super Mario Bros. had their own special abilities? As a result:
    The singleplayer could allow you to play as any of the 4, otherwise multiplayer exclusive, characters.
    Luigi could retain ALL of his abilities from NEW Super Luigi U.
    IF Wario & Waluigi replace Blue & Yellow Toads they'd have special powers too.
    -(Wario) Wario could have his Shoulder Bash, meaning that if he was full sized he could naturally break blocks by bashing into them & he has a NEW way to defeat enemies. BUT to balance this Wario would have to (for example) get two mushrooms OR a power-up worth more to become normal sized. He should also sacrifice his ability to wall jump.
    -(Waluigi) Waluigi could jump EVEN HIGHER than Luigi, but sacrifice wall jumping, & he could "float" through the air for a limited time by swimming through the air in any direction. I think that he'd also have to have the same caveat as Wario or something similar.
    Although I'd love to see something like this in a NEW Super Mario Bros. title, it's not likely...

      It was actually planned to have Wario as an unlockable character in New Super Mario Bros. 2, but they decided he didn't fit in sadly.

      This is exactly what I want, as well. It would be perfect to have them as playable characters, and it would honestly help sell the games more, as the New Super Mario Bros. series has gotten a bit CoD syndrome lately. I can't believe Nintendo feels that Wario wouldn't fit in a new Mario game... He was introduced in a Mario game, for crying out loud. I just hope that if the Switch does really well, we'll see more of what you're suggesting (that is if the guys at Nintendo pull their heads out of Mario and Luigi's asses lol).

      I was thinking for the new super Mario bro’s U games wario,waluigi, and bowser should team up to try to stop Mario or maybe do the same idea but with a 3D Mario game I think it would be really cool having 3 villains team up to stop who they hate most Mario well Waluigi hates Luigi but that’s not the point

    I have an idea for a warioware game:
    Waluigiware: Waluigi is mad that Wario always ignores him and leaves him out of every adventure, so out of pure spite, he makes his own company called Waluigiware which is a success due to the fact that his microgames are cheaper than Wario, making a business rivalry. The gameplay would be similar to other Warioware games but you can choose to play either Wario levels or Waluigi levels, both having different styles. And honestly, we need more Waluigi in our lives.

      Well, in all fairness, they flanderized Wario to only be interested in adventuring if treasure is involved; which doesn’t make for a good payoff if you want to have multiple endings.
      Wario Land 1 has Wario paying sacks of money to get a Castle. you end up with 5 sacks of money, you get his original wish, 3 sacks will get you a log cabin (presumably what he gets in the Wario Ware series), but 1 sack will get you a bird house.
      WarioWorld is about defeating the Black Jewel to get his Castle back, but you have to rescue Spritelings to make it work (telling you that being selfless pays off).
      WarioLand 4 does the multiple ending angle too; the less treasure chests you retain during boss battles, the younger Shokora gets.
      Shake It ends with not only Wario caber tossing Queen Merulda and taking her endless sack, but Captain Syrup takes away that bag.
      The point is, when it comes to treasure hunting, if Wario doesn’t act selfless, Karma will bite him in the ass.

      Have you seen his kicks, bruh?
      He kicked the crap outa Bowser in Mario Party 3, and his Assist Trophy in Smash is all about kicking people INTO THE GROUND.
      Either way, Waluigi clearly shouldn't play the same as Wario... Therefore, levels could be designed with multiple ways to play based on which character you use. Plenty of games have done that before.

    I gotta tell you man, I tried playing Master of Disguise after hearing you talk about it & I was really let down. Had trouble with the drawing mechanic & the level design was too confusing. I do agree that it does have some personality, but it's nowhere near Wario's best. I'll take Shake It (a game I absolutely adore) any day.
    Still, good list! Nice to see someone talking about my favorite Nintendo character. It's a crime & a mystery why we haven't gotten a 3DS Wario game yet.

  • @Happytreefriendsfan3
    @Happytreefriendsfan3 7 лет назад +30

    Excellent video, I just don't agree with you on "Shake It!", it's tue that it's harsh when it comes to doing certain missions, but the whole point of the game is to replay the levels multiple times to find everything and master the levels themselves. The levels can be beaten quickly, so it's never a chore to replay them. You also don't have to replay them instantly, you can continue beating new levels and return later to the one whose missions you wanted to do.
    Also, I think it's madness to put Master of Disguise over Wario Land 3, not only because WL3 is a masterpiece of level design, but because Master of Disguise is a terrible game.
    Wario World is amazing, but there's one flaw - the combat is too repetitive and there's only a few types of enemies which make the levels look samey, even though the environments themselves vary.

  • @someguy9284
    @someguy9284 7 лет назад +32

    I actually loved Shake It. I'll agree that some of those missions where you had to escape were too trial and error. I loved about everything else though, I respect your opinion.
    Great to see Wario World love. Such a memorable and unique game. It needs a sequel. As great as it was it was just too short. I need more.

    • @pikminman13
      @pikminman13 6 лет назад +1

      Really, the flaws had little to do with the gameplay mechanics and more to do with the extra stuff associated with it. I love the game too, I just don't like the mutually exclusive things you have to get. I also don't mind the slight backtracking to do it right, then again I'm used to doing that kinda stuff, I just managed to clear all of the Blue Sphere stages in Sonic Mania. I also like the whole "unlock your abilities" thing, I like the sense of building myself up instead of starting with everything.

    What we need is a new Wario Land game for the 3DS with the art style of Shake It, but with fully realized, classic Wario Land gameplay, complete with transformations (all the classics like Fat, Vampire, Crazy, Flat, Bouncy, Bubble, Zombie, etc. and new ones), goofy animations, and great level design. A true follow up to Wario Land 4.

    Shake It! is definitely not awful. Sure, the missions aren't fun, but they're optional and don't take away from the main game. As far as achievements go, I'd say it has the best soundtrack, boss battles and the best representation of Wario's character, even if the game itself isn't as good as the other ones, and 4 is without a doubt a better version of it.

      +Morten Sejer Indeed! It may not be my FAVORITE Wario game so far (have not played Disguise, Virtual Boy, or World yet), but it DEFINITELY outstrips the Warioware games or Wario Land 4, and I had a BLAST when I LPed it! And I think the reason is twofold: not only do I enjoy the sort of challenges Shake It has more than Fnu, but I also found the WL4 secrets to be a good deal more obtuse than he did! Which is odd, because I hold 2 just as high as him...

    • @Conman9310
      @Conman9310 6 лет назад +6

      Lots of people who review the game focus too much on the missions system which definitely isn't the focus, but more of an extra for people who want to master the layout of the levels. The most fun you can get from it in my opinion is just playing through it.

    • @pikminman13
      @pikminman13 6 лет назад +2

      The problem I have with its criticisms is that they arent focusing on the gameplay itself. The gameplay itself works fine, its the bonus stuff that you need to think for. And Wario Land Shake It is not the first nor last game to make you do perfect runs of stuff just to get 100% completion.

    Very nice video but I disagree about Wario Land Shake It (even if it's not my favorite Wario game). I thought the game was actually really good and that it deserved all of its positive reviews. You do not actually have to replay the levels all the time. Yes, it's a bit punishing sometimes but I personally never actually found times where the challenges presented felt unfair. Plus it gives you the option to continue playing new levels or replay them constantly with those missions and as a result, MASTER (the bold function isn't working) those levels. I also really like the bosses because they are very fitting for the kind of setting that you'd expect from a Wario game. That's just my opinion. I like it equally as much as 4 actually (I played 4 very recently and enjoyed myself).

    People say Wario is kind of a terrible person, and yeah, Wario is kind of a jerk at times. But keep in mind:
    Wario has saved hundreds, thousands, if not MILLIONS of lives! And it’s not like Wario does nothing with all his coinage. In Wario World, you can use coins to buy garlic to recharge your health, so Wario can keep going. So, in a big roundabout way, Wario is doing good with his money. As long as he stays alive, while he DOES continue to gather as much money as he can get his hands on, he can keep saving lives. In Wario Land 3, Shake It, and Wario World, he saves entire tribes! And in Wario Land 4 and Shake It, he saves 2 princesses across both games! Yeah, he tossed the princess of the Shake Dimension aside so he could grab the bag of infinite coins, but he still saved her life. Also, if you can tolerate Wario’s obnoxious singing on the pause screen of Wario World for 50 whole minutes, he’ll actually apologize to the player! And need I mention how Wario COMPLETELY drops pursuit of his treasure to save his pet chicken in Wario Land 2? (Well... no. WhatTheFnu mentions that.)
    You’ll have to dig REALLY deep to find it, but within all that greed and all those insults, Wario’s got a heart of gold.

    You know, as a little kid I grew up with Wario Land 4, and as the countdown at the end of each level gave me anxiety I couldn't get past the first two levels. Some years ago, already studying a degree, I tried to give it another shot, and holy fuck if it isn't pure bliss and awesomeness.
    WL4 is a labour of love and that is undeniable. Plus, the boss fights are so quirky and fun that you can always replay it again and again (in fact the day I beat it I completed three more playthroughs, that's how fun it was, and I've traditionally loathed platformers).

  • @lebswada
    @lebswada 6 лет назад +1

    I disagree with Wario World being the best Wario game. Sure, everything you said about it is a reason why it is a good game, but that only goes so far when being put up to the test of gameplay, which is where the game falls short.
    The game is really mundane when it comes to the variety. Every level has the same thing in common. You go in, punch a bunch of reskinned enemies, then fight a weird crystal thing, then solve a lackluster puzzle underground, grab a red crystal, then fight some zaney boss that you have to do the same thing to beat it. This wouldn't be so much of an issue if the lack of variety posed more of a challenge, but you can just cruise through it and it's not really any fun, and when it is challenging, the challenge is kinda bland and seems rushed.
    There are also a few empty mechanics. The coins don't really serve much purpose, and you collect a large amount of them, meaning there is little risk when you actually use them. When you do use them, it's only to buy garlic or to resurrect Wario, which only costs 5-1000 coins when you have like... 1,000,000, which in the older Wario games, there was actually a risk for losing your coins, and they served a greater purpose. A lot of the moves don't really serve much practical application, so you're just kind of using it for the heck of it at that point.
    It's a good game and will always have a place in my heart, but it just feels really lazily put together and just kinda bland gameplay wise.

    My list is almost backwards. Wario Land 3 is my no.1 despite having to recollect old moves. I just feel like the whole package being designed around this decision makes it work. As for Wario World, I tend to rank that one very low because of how short it is, how many of the stages feel similar since all that changes regarding enemies are appearances, and I am not a fan of the bizarre nature of the visuals. They're unique and now that I'm older, I appreciate them better, but as a kid, it felt so off from what I was used to with the Land series.
    The only one I disagree with is Shake It. I prefer Land 4, but the challenges were a nice addition. I don't mind replaying the same thing over and over (hence why I like Land 3) so completing the challenges was fun. But Shake It trying to be Land 4 hurt it because almost every Wario Land up to this point felt unique, plus I'm not a fan of the anime visuals.

    More proof Wario should be the Mario mascot. It revamps a game genre with creativity and this is what make Wario games great. I prefers them over classic Mario games. Take note, Nintendo!

    Wario is a great character. I have a lot of appreciation for Wario, it's fun and funny. Whenever I can choose it in Mario Party, Mario Tennis or another party game; I do it without thinking twice.
    I like their games, although I have played few. But I would definitely like Nintendo to release a platform game for Wario again. The last one was Shake It and that was in 2008. A decade without taking advantage of Wario and its platforms seems unacceptable, especially when Nintendo 3DS is a console where you could easily drop a Wario Land 5 or a remake of the first two Wario Land.
    WarioWare is a fun game, but Nintendo has already taken too many and we are oblivious to see our yellow plumber giving lunges and collecting coins. People make a lot of jokes about Waluigi, but I think that lately Wario also needs love from Nintendo.

    TP the darkest LoZ? Not by a long shot. All the darkness in that game was just born out of Nintendo's fear of their fanbase for daring to make an amazing game out of cel-shaded graphics and getting unwarranted hatred for it. It was Nintendo playing it the safest they ever have with a LoZ title by not expanding but simply retreating what made the N64 games great. It was Ocarina's gameplay with Majora's tone thrown in without thinking about what made Majora work.
    Majora had characters that felt the peril of their world and who acted accordingly, it had tragic stories in every direction you went from the impeccable Kafei quest to the main story which was vague enough to be open for interpretation but focused enough to let you know that you were experiencing something strange, dangerous and something Link would have to face alone since he was in a completely different land maybe even reality than he was born in.
    Meanwhile TP's characters couldn't even give a shit when Hyrule castle was blocked off by evil magic and the catalyst that puts your story into motion is pushed aside to mere afterthought status once you hear the same old story of good and evil. TP wasn't a bad game by any means but it was the weakest LoZ on console until that abomination Skyward Sword came around.
