Listening to this now. I miss the bells ringing. Could hear them in my garden it was so peaceful. :( can't believe they just took the bells away to be melted. Insane!
Since bells are displaced and change positions why do all the ringers pull individual bells at the same speed and don't change if their bell is to ring later in the change sequence?
When a call is made i.e you’re in rounds (1, 2, 3, (, 5 ,6, 7, 8) te conductor may call 2 to 3. Which means two and three will swap places making the order (1, 3, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8). The ringers are all pulling at different times but the ringer pulls the rope split seconds after the ringer on the bell in front . The concept of all the bells ringing at different speeds and different places it called method ringing.
awesome ive rung at every tower featured on there
Lovely to hear good call-change striking...looks like a good time was had by all!
Excellent as usual, and good to see the evidence that call change and scientific bellringers share something important in common at the end there!
And now Cleator Moor has sadly closed & the bells are gone.

At Cartmel Priory are those spare ropes on the ladder or are they for another reason?
If you look on dove for the Cartmel Priory they are for the "old six"
