GIT years later out of my 107 bottles is still my absolute #1. most realistic "fresh green rainforest" type fragrance i've ever smelled, it could have the worst performance imaginable and i'd still buy a bottle due to how lovely it smells to my nose. timeless classic for me
Love it, too. Mine has great performance, too. I think I have some more photorealistic green fragrances from Roja and ADP, but as far as realistic green blended perfectly with aroma chemicals it’s the best. Masterpiece. By far the oldest in my collection and not dated at all.
We actually like when you describe fragrances bro. I was looking forward to hearing your take on the other two honorable mentions! Great video as always
Gucci II was AMAZING! Fahrenheit edt is a timeless classic. I went through oodles of it! Still love it, though my last bottle was used up eons ago. Gynamede sounds very interesting.
Great video. My first step into niche fragrances was s sample of GIT. It was like nothing I had ever smelled. I saved up and immediately purchased a bottle and was immediately disappointed because for some reason it didn't smell the same. It was the strange cucumbery note that stuck out. Over time, either the maceration or development of my olfactory senses (or both) have led me back to GIT as a masterpiece. I now love all the notes and the dry down on my skin makes it a joy to wear!
I can confirm that you were amongst the very first to promote Ganymede. I remember seeing you talk about it a couple years ago, long before the hype train left the station. Also, fahrenheit is amazing. I need to pickup a bottle.
Ganymede in any list will be my favorite hahahaha. Its more mineral note dominant to me but you cant deny the freshness is due to the violetleaf. Given what i think is a simple note in violetleaf, placing Ganymede in the Enthusiast level makes sense. Great list JC! :)
Since running down my bottle of Fahrenheit, I've discovered a very pleasant "cheap" alternative; Layer David Beckham Beyond Forever (violet), over Cerutti signature (leather)..... perfect alternative 👍🏻
L’Heure Verte is an absolutely amazing fragrance. I’d take it over Angle’s Share hands down every time. The violet leaf mixed with absinthe makes it so classy and elegant, almost classic in a way… like something my father used to wear but I can’t put my finger on what it was. But it definitely awakens those olfactory memories for some reason. Anyhow, great list. I love this content with the one note, three tiers concept.
15:17 Ormonde Jane Montabaco has been a staple of mine for a few years now but with a holiday in Croatia not to far away, Montabaco Verano is very much on my radar for the summer, keep up the good work. Oh and GIT is the GOAT end of.
Got my nose on a few of these already. Descriptions are spot on. Dior F° was my scent of the day yesterday. First wearing too. Decantx which I heard from your channel. My favorite sample store. Great video as always. Really enjoying these specific note videos. Hope they keep coming! Thank you for the information you share 👍🏼
I've already let it be known that Ganymede isn't for me...BUT when my wife smelled it, fell in love with it and used up what was left of the decant. I then bought her a full bottle for Christmas.
Cool picks Justin! I would have also consider something like Eight & Bob Cap D'Antibes in the intrigued tier. Loved the commentary on the reviews! Keep it up!
Creed Green Irish Tweed is the only Niche Frag that I have a backup bottle. I admit the longevity is not that great but I use Molecule 02 to layer and it lasts 3-4 hours longer on my skin. Best Green frag in my opinion and very elegant. Got too many compliments wearing it.
Guess I gotta put my nose on L'Heure Verte sometimes. I think violet's used in a great deal of fragrances, but mostly in a supporting role. Which makes picking out scents that feature it prominently not so easy. Overall, I like it when I see violet listed as a note, it doesn't make my heart skip a beat.
Violet leaf is a petroleum note to me almost purely. I love it, and totally get the fresh and clean side, but it reminds me of the smell of my clothes after mowing lawns all day. That vauge exhaust smell. I love it, smells like the outdoors to me.
Love the video choice centering on the note of violet leaf. I am a fan of this note and as a result, I own a handful of fragrances in this video. An excellent designer option in my collection for this genre is Brioni EDP (2021). Very classy and ozonic.
GIT is the best. Touch great for a cheapie. Fahrenheit’s, too. Would love to see Gucci do a modern take on Pour Homme 2. I guess I love violet leaf! (And need to try Ganymede)
yet annother video of this splendid series! only familiar with Ganymede so far. Very unique and discernible - wouldn´t have underlined violet as main characteristic though. By the way: what are the chemicals in there that make it so strong in projection and performance? As much as I like the scent - I am lacking the opportunity to wear it in day time, because it´s so loud and overpowering and I don´t want to scream at people...Sorry, bit off topic, but I wondered since that is one of the most talked about fragrance in your chanell...🙂
Thank you Martin. I believe that violet leaf contributes greatly to it's freshness. I couldn't tell you exactly what makes it so strong, there are some aroma chemicals in there that only Quentin knows about lol.
Great video of a lovely note in perfumery Justin. I still can't get enough of this kind of serie you give us. I got a few perfumes which has violet as a supportive note at the moment and I like those a lot. But I like more flowers. I recently started to like neroli (not a flower, I know) as a dominent note. Wonder what you think of it and if it could be a topic in a video like this?
I don’t own chez bond but I love it if I did not have GIT I would buy it. Also I’ve had purple label but I would wear it and it would disappear off my skin. So I sold it. On scent alone it’s amazing never understood why it’s always so unavailable. For now I’ll stick with bleeder street.
Hello Justin Outstanding job on the video and list. I STILL HAVE AND LOVE BURBERRY TOUCH! CREED GIT IS LEGIT! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ! STAY SAFE BROTHER
Thank you! Vetiver was actually the first one, but the series has evolved quite a bit since then. I have a playlist on my channel dedicated to ingredients & families. Look for the one with Guerlain Vetiver in the thumbnail.
I don't see how Ganymede can come off as smelling bad. It's so good! Don't get me wrong. I understand we all have different taste in fragrances but man, Ganymede is amazing.
L'Heure Verte is a beautiful fragrance. My wife has a bottle which I was able to try (I've been warned to limit my use). The licorice there is delicious. The only difficulty with L'Heure Verte is finding the appropriate time to wear it. It's not a fragrance that I could wear to the office.
I love violet. Burberry Touch changed my life. It was a nice dumb reach at a great price and not to mention the tonka bean drydown. I'm mad with Dior because it's impossible to get Fahrenheit Parfum outside of France and the Fahrenheit edt I smelled recently was not that great. I really think Dior ruined the Edt to promote the Parfum. I just know I'll never buy a Dior or Francois Demachy fragrance now because they seem to make their good stuff exclusive to France.
@@yousif_mangirous I’m not saying you shouldn’t wear it anytime you want, you can do whatever you like. But it’s not my first choice for a hot day, there are just simply better options in my opinion.
@@stayfreshproductions Of course there are. Since I don't want to choke people out and I trust your opinion, I'll wear it in the rather cool days. I appreciate that you take out of your valuable time to reply to your subscribers. Big fan.
Yo question Jus, do you notice the change in the the Fahrenheit scent? It smells more leathery, more licorice in the opening… Almost like Carolina Herrera.
One of my favorite notes, Fahrenheit EDT, GIT and Narciso Rodriguez For Him EDT being among my favorite frags of all time! Not a fan of Fahrenheit Le Parfum because it's like the OG with its balls cut. Cheers! P.S. I never got the cucumber association. Cucumber is similar to watermelon to my nose.
I would reverse Farenheit and Farenheit parfum in this list. Imo the sweetness and the vanilla in the Parfum version will appeal more to the new generations. But, to be fair, I like the original and I don't like the Parfum version, so I guess the classification is accurate 😅. But I like classic perfumery and I hate rum note so I consider myself to be in the minority.
I tested both and couldn't even smell the Edt after smelling the parfum. The parfum also has a beautiful suede note that I find addicting. However, I can't find it outside of France.
@@stayfreshproductions The violet notes are similar, but one smells like a bar of pine soap and the other smells very leathery. For me, they are different enough to where I wouldn't compare them.
@@stayfreshproductions I can only account for my own sense of smell. I originally purchased Portrayal after having read reviews comparing the two. My impression was it was going to be a pre-formulation version of Fahrenheit. Hence my surprise that they did not smell alike. To me, Portrayal is Pine/Fir forward with the violet in the background, giving it a wood shop type smell. Fahrenheit would be a lot more violet forward with leather in the background. Maybe the common trait for those that do compare them is the gasoline note, that I do not personally detect. I only get that cucumber type vibe you mentioned. I would more compare Fahrenheit to Boss Bottled Night, with that one missing the leather note. I am surprised that one did not get mentioned as it is a very simple violet forward fragrance. On a side note, I purchased Russian Tea some months back after having seen it mentioned in a few of your videos. It has been a hit, garnering some interesting reactions. Mainly those commenting that it does resemble tea boiled in a samovar. Birch is commonly used to heat samovars giving it a unique slight smokiness similar to how Russian Tea does.
