  • Swiftwater swimming is a fundamental skill of all water rescue personnel. This clip follows an instructor at the IAWRP conference leading participants down the East Race. The objective was to hone the rescue technician skills by having them focus on the critical elements of swimming in swiftwater. These elements include: reading moving water dynamics, proper entry into the water, defensive and aggressive swimming techniques, watching your target, setting up to enter an eddy, and learning how to swim smart (letting to power of the water work for you).
This clip is NOT a substitute for training by an organization and swiftwater instructor. Swiftwater rescue is high risk and low frequency.
