With 7kg plus gimbal support this sounds like a decent upgrade. I have the first gen nano and it’s been great for interview setups as the second angle. Biggest issue was using heavier lenses and watching it struggle at certain angles. Looking forward to checking it out!
Very cool, I’m looking forward to trying this version out! I’ve owned the gen 1 for 4 years. It has been good, but sometimes it takes a while to work out the micro jitters via calibration. I hope this has been taken care of in this gen 2 version. Especially with this big “tall” payload mounted to it.
Payload of 7kg ≈ 15.4 pounds Vertical payload 3.5kg ≈ 7.7 pounds 4:12 he mentions it. So double the original but you do have to account for the gimbal head I suppose
Even with the improved payload, I would think the height of the gimbal could add significant leverage that could impose issues with movement. I look forward to seeing some independent user reviews of this.
Hmmm. It's impressive that it will communicate with the DJI gimbals, but the two version travel ranges are only 7.87 inches and 15.75 inches. The short version seems too short for anything but very close product videos, while the longer version seems like a bare minimum. I would prefer at least 24-36 inches movement for interviews or narrative work. I tried to use the Edelkrone for VFX compositing work, but found it could not consistently hit the A and B points.
Interesting, but very short. If I want a frame accurate repeatable moves but three-four times more travel than this allows - what's the cheapest way to get that?
There really isn't a cheap and reliable way, the cheap ones are crap. You're looking at the likes of Emotimo & Dana Dolly/ MYT Works combo, Dynamic Perception, Kessler etc .
I have kit that will do this. I control with the excellent @blackforestmotion "Pine II" controller, my pan/tilt head is from (now defunct) Dynamic Perception, and I use a 2m Stage One slider (also from Dynamic Perception), and my focus-pull and slider motors are also Black Forest Motion. If I had to replace the DP stuff, I'd do it with BFM's excellent motors and slider (the only problem is that their max length slider is 100cm, but they've made noises about expandability). Or I might try to source another Stage One slider (they're pretty rare now).
I would take the vertical payload with a grain of salt after owning the gen 1. Also with the gen 1 they never resolved the issue with micro jitters, which I found more noticeable when you added a pan to your shot. Also this gen 2 looks like it doesn't have a diff travel length when mounted on a tripod like gen 1. I think that was a good idea partnering with DJI, it makes a lot of sense. They don't have to make their own pan/tilt head, and people might consider buying a gimbal to use with this if they don't already own one.
having Ronin integration, do you guys know how the slider will react for time lapses? curious if it will fully communicate and 'stop' to take photo, of if this would be one continuous motion and disregard any shutter speed settings.
Very interesting for multi cam setups imo. Afaik the ronin gimbals can use the tracking data of some cameras like lumix. I try to avoid "smartphone as accessories". Would love to see tracking work without a "dongle"
So hear me out ... Couldn't you get just the 300 dollar carbon fiber from ephoto, put the gimbal on, and use the DJI app to controll the movement of the gimbal?
you could, but the waypoints on slider would not communicate with set points on gimbal. also tbd if focus control will sync with this slider (if so, that would be an incredibly major win)
i had the first one, after a few months it developed a bit of a wobble, i sent evidence and all the details to support and they were useless. I'd avoid them.
Just get a regular motor slider and put the Osmo pocket on there and do face detection or follow mode. It will give you the same effects. And save you a lot of money too.
I would NOT 👎🏻 reccomend this brand. Have some issue with their 1st slider wich cost me $800 and sent them emails, DMs and everything I can and NEVER get response. This is not how your treat customers.
Nothing new from a Chinese company. As soon as they have your money they are finished with you. That’s why you never buy from companies outside the US/EU.
I have a opposite experience personally. Gen 1 has been my workhorse and used it for years. Had one issie with stuttering through its movement. Email to support and a very detailed explanation and video on how to fix.
@@kernzilla YC Onion, its a video-tool-brand that is still around today. I got their hotdog slider years ago that would communicate and program with both DJI and Zhiyun gimbals. I have a Shark Slider Nano 1 and it’s been great for interviews as the second angle. Biggest issue was the lower payload with my heavier lenses, but now with 7kg + gimbal support- this looks even better!
I've owned a Shark mechanical slider for many years and have many other products (magic arm, monopod, etc.) but the first version of the Shark slider nano was such an unpolished and unusable device that iFootage should give this 2nd version as an apology.
Motorised slider is probably the single biggest waste of money I’ve ever had lol. Pain in the ass to set up, expensive and just a hassle in general. Clients never cared for them either

The real linkage between Gimbal and slider is very exciting, especially with the DJI series gimbal
The only question left is: will the DJI focus unit be focusing manual lenses like this? Also, does it have a timelapse mode?
be intersting to see if focus control will be incorporated into movement memorization 🤔

prob Zeapon Axis most affordable way, without spending big boy money ...
so the longer one, indicating 40cm of travel, is this decreased if *not used on tripod?
This is really good. Still waiting for an additional arm for up and down movement then it would be like a real cinebot
Does is do "double length" movement when on a tripod like the Gen 1 version?
Hi Colin, with Nano 2 Slider, there will only be two fixed length, not the same as Gen 1 version thanks.

LOL literally my first thought!
the one i am waiting for !!!!
What about FIZ control?
When you set waypoints, does it pause at each point or can we get it to continuously move through them?
Thank you for your message, yes there will be an option to have it pause or continuous. Thanks
i saw elsewhere its smooth transition, so you can easily 'set and forget' for interviews etc, and not have a jerking pause ... glad glad to hear this!
