    Cool, well explained. *Clutch cable nuts should be both on the left. to lock the cable position.

    Very well done video. Helped me a ton to the oil leaking out. You should do more videos. I just bought a old 85 xr 350 and trying to diagnose some issues.

    You can use the 200W Ricky Stator, but you will need an AC regulator that can handle the extra wattage. Email sent with more information. Thank you for your question, and have a great week!

    Thanks for the video. My chain snapped and cut off my stator cable. Now I know how this works, this should be an easy soldering job.

      Wow, that sounds like a scary adventure you had to endure. Where you far away from home when this happened? Did the chain do any damage do your left engine case? Glad we could help and best of luck! Hope you came out unscathed yourself.

      XRLand I wasn't too far.away from home. My dad picked me up. The chain did no damage to the left case but the screw holes of the sprocket cover broke. Luckily nothing happend to my girlfriend or me.

    When you replaced your stator did you also replace your regulator? I’m having some confusion on how I’m supposed to do this. I bought an RM stator and now I’m not sure how I’m supposed to be wiring up my new regulator.
    Lost spark and suspected the stator or regulator to be the issue

    Can’t tell what thread lock you used, permanent or removable? Guessing removable in case you needed to replace it again down the road?

    Nice informative video. Have 85 XR600R with headlamp, tail/brake light & no battery. Can I tap into my headlamp wires with a fused power outlet to operate my Garmin GPS? Believe it's stock stator, but not positive.

    • @XRLand
      @XRLand  6 лет назад +1

      Larry J Hi Larry. I would venture to say yes, however, I do not have a degree in physics nor electrical engineering, therefore I cannot give you an educated answer. I have done this type of tapping before, but without extensive knowledge, I would rather recommend you ask someone that can give you a confident answer so that your Garmin doesn’t get damaged. Sorry I can’t be more help, but I’m a biologist 😂 thanks for dropping by the channel. Ride safe and enjoy that classic 85!

    Are you considering getting an aftermarket kit such as the Baja Designs, or are you wanting to wire a headlight and switch directly to your alternator connections?

    Great video very useful. I have a 85 XL 600 with a Ricky stater in it and I’m having problems starting now after about a year cording to my Honda service guide I have to check both the black in the red wires and I’m only getting resistance in the black side is 65 and nothing from the red wire. So I’m thinking I’m gonna need a new stater just want your opinion before I go out and buy one. And also how did that Ricky stater you put in hold up?

    • @XRLand
      @XRLand  3 года назад +1

      Hi Dell Davis. Good to see those 80's XLs still being kept up. I've only had experience with factory stators and Ricky stators, so I can't comment on how they compare to other brands. While Ricky stators are expensive, they seem to have good build quality and lasting performance. I don't have anything negative to say. If you're going to get one with higher wattage, then you may want to consider a regulator to handle excess power. I'm not very familiar with the physics of electricity, so I can't provide any useful information beyond that. I never had a problem with my Ricky stator thankfully, and the reviews seem pretty good overall on the internet. Hope you get your bike back up and running soon! Take it easy out there. Best.

      @@XRLand thank you for the reply I’ll probably go with a Ricky stater because the factory ones aren’t available anymore I’ve been looking for one but no luck

    hello, in the book workshop xr 600 that measure should be 230-320, and only gives you 84 ?????. my xr gives 91 and the engine shuts down, this is driving me crazy.

    For we dummies....... Why did you not address the direction the stator goes back in ? Is it unimportant.? ( I neglected to mark which hole s . ) I also have some type of 2 screw seperate unit with the stator . It,s wire limits where the new stator may mount.

    • @XRLand
      @XRLand  4 года назад

      Hi Jr Johnston. I didn't know it was important to mention. The wiring came out of one side which allowed me to decide which orientation to install the new stator. Does your old and new stator not have obvious differences between front and back? Hope the build is going well.
