- In this video I am going to be showing you the top 5 best mods for adding additional realistic and balanced dinos / dinosaurs in Ark: Survival Evolved. When I say realistic, I mean that the dinos look realistic and blend in extremely well with Ark's other dinos, unlike mods like Primal Fear where the mods are very colourful and overpowered. I do not mean that the dinos match up 100% with their real life extinct counterparts.

The Acro basically has the quality of a Monster Hunter beast which I think more ark creatures should have, rather than the bare bones function in the gameplay. They should have dynamic abilities for different creatures that makes them seem more alive!

Agree. The Acros I've seen are more alive than any other dino in the base game.
Yea why can’t the rock drake also claw slash and tail whip. The bite and zoom are nice and the stealth is a unique utility but it feels like the drake could do more.
Oh yea and the climbing grapple gliding is sooo valuable… I guess the rock drake is pretty loaded but still those claws and tail could have an attack I think
Yeah like I love carnos but why would I use a carno later on since they have nothing unique compared to any other medium+ carni and the fact you can use a weapon on there back is kinda crazy

Edit: according to a friend of mine who is a mod creator, the Jurassic Park Expansion mod has been causing lots of crashing recently in some people’s worlds. If you’re going to use this mod be warned of crashes, and unfortunately if the crashes become too frequent you might have to stop using the Jurassic Park Expansion mod. Hopefully most of you won’t have this problem though and hopefully in the future the mod will be fixed.

At least when your game crashes it’s reverses time to some place of time you where in like a omega spawns and kills my entire tribe in a hit I just run to the redwoods and bam I I’m back and I use the kill command and that’s it

You’re absolutely right if you look at the ark fandom wiki it has mod info aswell and many creatures that have been added in the free dlc maps have been taken from them the ark additions mod has scrapped a lot of creatures because ark decided to add them officially

Great video ,although there are things in it that are misinformation:
1: The ark version of the Deinonychus was not actually the same as the ark additions Deinonychus. When the ark additions mod dev, Garuga, asked about it, they said that it was just a coincidence. The mod dev didn't have any sort of involvement or relation with the Deinonychus currently in Ark and in fact he is modifying his own version of the deino and changing it into his own fictional dino called Nyctoraptor.
And 2: Deinosuchus ability to turn 360 degrees didnt actually came first. The sarco was the first and Garuga just added that feature in later on.
Either way, great video still and i hope that more comparison videos with Garuga's Ark additions creatures are coming, specially sense more new stuff and reworks from him are soon to come as well. They are seriously some of the best things in Ark moddding, period.

This is a pretty common misconception, but AA's Dein has no relation to ARK's dein. This has been confirmed by both parties on Twitter, Discord, and the ARK Forums.

Just because both parties have denied does not mean that they are telling the truth, always stay ahead.
The Ark devs are lazy but I don’t think they would go as far to stealing a mod creator’s creature idea without crediting him. And since the mod creator agreed with the devs of it just being a coincidence I now also think that it was. However if the Ark devs started adding the rest of the creatures from Garuga’s Ark Additions and still said that it was a coincidence, then the Ark devs would definitely be lying.

The Acrocanthosaurus seems so life like, slowly moving forward, leaning sideways and up to seem way larger than it really way.
I know right! Garuga did an amazing job on the Acro's animations. It feels more life-like than most, if not all, of Ark's original creatures

@@LizardFella2.0 There's the Mr.Troodons Giga TLC (Shadlos Reupload) which makes the Giga a lot smaller and less powerful and I think it changes its model a bit, and the Paleo Ark: Expansion mod is currently working on a TLC for the Giga, which I am very excited for!

I need a mod that’ll make wild Dinos need to breed and they don’t just spawn out of nowhere, imagine a server making the first order of business is making the pegomastax extinct
Hahaha I love that idea. There’s a couple mods that make Ark creatures behave more realistically, but I don’t think they make creatures not-spawn in the wild. There’s Ark Transcendance that makes the wild creatures sleep, behave differently when with other creatures of its kind, makes wild baby creatures spawn and even makes carnivores aggression vary on how hungry the creature is. And there’s also a mod called Immersive Taming, that makes taming different creatures much more unique and in-depth. For making the Pegomastax go instinct you could go into Ark’s .ini file settings to decrease how much pegomastax spawn, or just disable them from spawning completely. Hope this helps!

ALL JUST FOR THE SWEET TASTE OF PEGOMASTAX TORTURE. Now. Imagine a mod that makes creatures sad if they don't have space, food and etc, that would be the ultimatum against the pego population

I like the fact that these are all based on actual dinosaurs, I don't know why Ark shifted to made up creatures when the Dinosaur angle was hardly even exhausted yet.
Yeah they wanted to pursue the sci-fi part behind Ark’s story. Ark 2 should have lots more dinosaurs though!
Prehistoric beasts doesn't have the greatest models or animations but the custom icons are cool

Ark additions being #3 is a crime. That mod easily out classes the rest in terms of quality, and as we all know Quality > Quantity
I was initially going to put it at number 1 but I felt that too many people already know about Ark Additions so it wouldn’t have been much of a surprise. I also wanted to keep the overhaul / expansion dino mods together since they create a whole new Ark experience rather than adding a small group of creatures. If this ranking list was from a pure critic’s opinion, then Ark Additions would without a doubt be at number 1.

The two jp expansion mod raptors they are both from isla sorna but from different parts the tiger striped one is in the lost world and the one with the feathers on its head is from jp 3 but nice vid keep up the good work

Hey Zed, thought I should point something out.
Jurassic Park expansion is no longer supported and is now known for causing extremely severe crashing issues, because the mod Dev abandoned it and left it to rot. The mod causes a lot of severe issues now for a lot of players and isn't a good choice for anybody who wants any form of stability in their game, because the mod dev actually doesn't give a crap about their own project anymore because it no longer made them money. I think you should put a spoiler or some sort of tooltip to let people know not to actually use this mod, because the mod is extremely unstable

The Brachi needs to be added to the game. It's SUCH a cool model and has really good animation. Might need to be buffed and nerfed in certain areas, maybe though. But it's by far my fave of the ARK Additions one.
I also like to think of the crocodile one as the salt water crocodile while the Sarco is more fresh water.

Hey zed I was wondering do any of the ark additions creatures have aberrant/x variants
As far as I know, the only additions dinosaur that isn't on Aberration is the Cryolophosaurus. Concavenator are found on the surface. I know at least the Brachi has a volcanic X-variant, and the Acro has a bog X-variant, and also the Xiphactinus has an ocean X-variant. The Xiphactinus has also been updated from what you see here, and is now much more dangerous and brutal. I know the deinosuchus is also getting updated.
Almost all of the creatures from Ark Additions have multiple variants. There’s Aberrant and X variants, along with a lot of unique variants like Scorched and Abyssal. All of the creatures from the Ark Additions mod actually have their own Wiki pages on the Official Ark Wiki, and it tells you about the creatures’ variants and tonnes of other info. Here’s the link to the Ark Additions page on the wiki: ark.gamepedia.com/Mod:ARK_Additions
As far as I know, there's X-Variants of all of them, a Scorched variant of the Acro and and Aberrant variants of the Brachi and the Deinosuchus.
The spit on the cryo actually gives torpor damage. So you can use it as a taming buddy.

Awesome video, I have a question about dino mods. When you add a mod with a mod dino, does that mod dino spawn, despawn and wander the map like the other regular dinos? Or do mod dinos only spawn on an admin command? Also if you do spawn a mod dino through an admin command and set it to wander the map, will it despawn eventually?
As long as the mods are functioning properly, which most of time they are, the creatures should spawn, wander, behave and despawn just like normal Ark creatures do. If the modded creatures aren’t spawning naturally then you might want to make sure that the mod is higher on the mod priority list, and check the compatibility of the mod with the map/dlc you are playing on. If you want to spawn a modded creature with an admin command, then yeah I’m pretty sure that it will eventually despawn, as with any normal wild or untamed creature. However if you tame the spawned modded creature then obviously it won’t despawn, unless you accidentally remove the mod.

Can we have these mods all together? How are the normal dinos spawn and the mods dinos in the wild? Or are some mods replacements? For example instead of normal rex spawn, it spawns the Jurassic version.
Technically you could use all the mods together. It would decrease the amount of normal dino spawns, but you’d still get normal creature spawns spawning unless you change things in the .ini files. I don’t recommend using all the mods together though, since load times will be insanely long, there’ll be lots of lag, glitches and the modded creatures aren’t balanced with some other creatures from the other mods. If you want to use multiple creature mods, I’d recommend just not using the Jurassic Park Expansion mod and the Additional Creatures mods together, since they both add so much creatures. You can use the Additional Creatues, Ark Additions: The Collection, Prehistoric Beasts and Quetzal Rex mods together, but your load times will go up quite a bit.

new to ark here. question. when you use these mods, they take the place of spawn points for dinos that should already be there?
Most mods, including all of the mods in this video, don’t replace any of Ark’s normal creature spawns. They will just decrease the amount of normal Ark creature spawns by a little bit, but that’s just so that you don’t have too many creatures spawning. There are some mods though that do replace normal Ark creature spawns, but those are mostly mods that rework Ark’s normal creatures, like the TLC Carno mod, Kraken’s Better Dinos, UACreatures, etc. You can also go into the game .ini files for Ark, and adjust Ark’s normal creature spawns from there if you wanted to. You can decrease, increase and completely remove creatures from spawning inside of there, but it can be a confusing process and you might need a tutorial to walk you through it. If you’re adding a mod to an already existing world, once you log in it would be a good idea to type in the command “DestroyWildDinos” so that the wild creatures on the map can be reset, and allow room for both new normal creatures and modded creatures to spawn.

My personal favorite has always been the Ark Additions with the Acro and such. But I really like the Carchadontosaurus from the last one tou did. He looks so pretty and his roar/his I feel gives him a bit more depth.

Man you can hear the difference bettwen this and creature comparitons. Creature comparitons sounds like days of preparing while this sounds like Zedfiles woke up, said fuck it, installed some mods and made a video. Something I would do if I had Ark ngl
Creature Comparisons definitely take much longer and much more work, around 36 hours total, while Top 5 Mods like this only take around 9 hours. But I still put a lot of work into them, including making sure to find high quality mods, showing a lot of content and giving a good overview of the mods and editing.

So I installed the collection, wild ark and prehistoric beasts. But running them at the same time on single-player makes the game freeze as soon as I click play. I can run 1 at a time however.
But in this video all the mods work fine together, I don't get why it isn't working for me.
Any thoughts?
When you play with a lot of mods in Ark the load times are increased by quite a lot. The freeze you see after you click play is actually just the game loading up the mods. Try waiting 5-10minutes after you click play and then Ark should stop being frozen and be in the actual loading screen.

I went the mod page of the mod, and then went to the discussions tab and opened the Spawn Codes page which was pinned by the mod creator. Some times the spawn codes are found in the description of fhe mod page too.

No, it was proven that the T. Rex actually didn’t have that much feathering. Just very light feathering and some cases, no feathering.

I love the fact that they are actually a good taming mount. Not like the scorpion that does so little it's just not really possible to use as a taming mount. They should do a TLC that makes the scorpion do stacking torpor damage so with each successive sting their torpor increases even faster than the last
I’m late but do all these mods work well together, the Jurassic park expansion has been discontinued but do they all still work good together?
The Jurassic Park Expansion mod is an overhaul (the creatures are OP and unbalanced) so it should be played seperate from the other mods. All the 4 other mods can be played together if you like.

I couldn’t find my original comment but Ark doesn’t only have dinosaurs it also has mammals which In my opinion have better models and animations and textures so on your next review of good creature mods PLEASE try to not only include dinosaurs
