I am sorry, 2049 does not hold a candle to Blade Runner unless all you care about is great effects. Blade Runner is plot driven, a plot crafted by one of SciFi's greatest writers; the effects give it the proper atmosphere. 2049's plot is just not comparable, IMO.
SORRY FOLKS! Looks like they deleted "The Witch: Part 1" between the time I recorded and posted this video. I always check to see what's leaving, that title didn't come up so it's possible it'll show up again soon. In the meantime, you can track it here: www.justwatch.com/us/movie/the-witch-part-1-the-subversion
I saw Gattaca when it first came out and it is still one of the best movies around, sci-fi or not! :) Wonderful story of overcoming one's limitations in life.
I don't often lend kudos, but in this case I must publicly state that Flick Connection has never steered us wrong. We find at least a couple in every video and without err, we end the movie with "That was better than I thought it would be".
Darren you and I agree 99.9% of the time. I can’t wait for more lists from you just in case I haven’t seen it all. Keep up the good work and thank you.
Mitchell’s vs the machines is one of the best animation movies ever made. It has some of the touching father daughter scenes and will make all fathers cry.
Thanks Darren, I've seen all but five of these, and those will give me something to watch this week, considering your recommendations are usually pretty spot on!! Also, going on Netflix with something already selected beats my usual two hours searching endlessly for something worthwhile to watch!
Darren I swear, you have the best editing and production team, no one else on RUclips, imo, is on the same level as your channel. Appreciate these videos so much!

Thanks, Darren, for including Oats Studio. I believe I have seen a few on YT before Netflix and really enjoyed. Anyway, keep doing what you are doing. I have really enjoyed your content.
Can't wait to watch quite a few of these movies. And War of the World's, with Tom Cruise, is one of my ALL time Favorite movies. I have watched it soo many times, I can't even count. Also, Dark Skies is a another one of my favorites on this list. So well done, and like you said, super creepy. Great list! Thanks!!
If you have a home theater, 2049 is a must own on 4k. Great visuals & OUTSTANDING sound design; Dolby Atmos at its best. The OG Bladerunner 4k transfer is great also.
I’m so happy to see the Witch on your list and so high up! I always recommend it to people and it has some of the coolest action scenes I’ve ever seen (and I’m not a big action fan) and the lead actress is just PHENOMENAL! Part 2 is actually getting released in the US next week, June 17th! Can’t wait to see it, but I think the first stands on its own just fine :)
I love Blood Red Sky it was a really great surprise. Spectral is really good too! Total Recall Remake was a big fail for me, and I was really disappointed with War of the World because I really love the original one. Love Death and Robots is one of the best Sci Fi series I've seen in the past years. The visuals are fantastic, it's original, unique, eclectic . Jibaro blew my mind, I watched it two times in a row, it is one of the most beautiful thing I've seen in a while.
Loved Hollow Man, and I can't believe you didn't mention that it's directed by Paul Verhoeven - the same Paul Verhoeven of Robocop, Starship Troopers and Showgirls fame. This one is actually pretty straightforward compared to his other works, but still is a big selling point. And I actually think Kevin Bacon really steals the show.
The MItchels vs the Machines is a great family movie and a lot of fun. I watched it with my Daughter last night and can vouch that it is a great family movie. Some scary robots may be.a little much for some kids, but mine is over 20, so I figured she would be OK.
See my man us so good at pointing out so many good movies coming from Korea particularly..The Witch Part 1 was absolutely PHENOMENAL and I've been waiting for part 2 ever since.
I had to google Vincent Price because I couldn't believe you said Gary Oldman was the 'second' best villain actor ever! I loved Leon: The Professional Gary Oldman character.
All time favourite for me is War of the Worlds. I own it so I can watch when I want now. Look forward to watching some of these others that I haven’t seen.

S[ectral has to be one of my favorite movies they came out with. kinda reminds me of a modern take on final fantasy: the spirits within. That same kinda invisible enemy.
I just wanted to mention how grateful I am for Netflix offering decent dubs for their better foreign language movies and series. I desperately need new glasses and can't read the subtitles anymore. Unless I watch on my phone and hold it 3 inches from my face lol.
I love Benson and Moorhead’s movies, and Synchronic, though different from their others, was really excellent as well. Now obviously, I know this isn’t a movie, but they also directed some episodes of the Netflix series “Archive 81”, which I thought was a really great series, and worth watching.
Denis Villeneuve is an amazing SciFi Director. n I love Blade Runner 2042 and just about everything else he's done recently like The Arrival and definitely Dune!

As someone who hated the Total Recall remake, I appreciate your points. I think I'll give it a re-watch with no expectations.
