It's legal to distill alcohol in NZ ,I only have a small homemade still ,like you say things don't have to be pretty ,they just have to work 👍and I'm doing what I can with what I have ,I'm trying to use different woods from fruit trees I have available to me ,there's not alot of oak around where I am and I don't want to spend any money .....what do you think about useing roasted chestnuts to age your alcohol with

I’m subbed and I ain’t going anywhere. I’m looking forward to seeing more. Don’t try and make it too fancy, the bucket talks are just fine. Keep passing down the heritage brother! Take it easy.

John, when you make your wash in the barrel, do you seal the top or simply put something over it to keep the air out. Thanks

Sure just on the black trampoline make sure you take a garden rake and move it around ever two or Three hours so it dries even

@@johnmiller7162 HI John, I just saw your video and it's nice to see the way you go thru the process of malting corn and what works for you, I was looking for a simple malting process that is cheap and easy myself and I am definately going to give your setup a try ,I have some clear barrels and it looks easy. I Do have a question on water, I have well water. But when you say good well water, do you mean a lower PH AND do you know the exact pH of your water, I have what I consider good well water but the PH is considered high I believe My well water is around 7.5, it's good to drink and for daily use, but I know distillers seem to think water for mashing needs to be around 5 ph for the best results. So I was wondering what your water PH is and if you feel it makes much difference, thank you and keep up the good work
