- With the launch of the next-generation Bajaj Pulsar on the horizon, we take a look back at where it all started for the iconic Indian motorcycle. In this video, we pay a tribute to the legend and take a look at how the Pulsar brand evolved over the last two decades. The Pulsar classic launched in 2001 laid the foundation of the popular sports bike brand in India. It was available with a 150cc or a 180cc engine. The later model years saw the introduction of the UG1, UG2, and UG3 variants which saw the addition of major updates such as DTS-I technology, twin Nitrox shock absorbers, and an all-digital speedometer. The year 2007 saw the introduction of the more powerful Pulsar 200 and Pulsar 220. The final and major update to the standard Pulsar was the UG4 variant which got split seats and wider tires. The year 2009 also saw the emergence of an all-new, smaller, slightly lesser-known, but technologically advanced Pulsar 135 LS. 2012 saw the launch of the Pulsar NS200, a naked Pulsar with liquid-cooled, DTS-I, triple spark engine. The Pulsar RS200 was launched in 2015 and it featured full failing and optional ABS. The RS 200’s launch was followed by the launch of the everyday adventure-friendly duo of AS Pulsars in April 2015. The Pulsar As 150 and As 200 were the ‘Adventure Sport’ versions of Pulsar. Come 2017 , Bajaj decided to push the game forward in the 160cc segment with the introduction of the Pulsar NS 160. In the year 2019, the brand Pulsar saw its smallest displacement offering yet as the Pulsar 125. This motorcycle featured a split seat set-up, a belly pan, and a tank shroud. For the Year 2021 the classic Pulsars received a new dagger-inspired graphic scheme along with premium matte colors, also termed as the Dagger Edge edition. And now, we are only a while away from the launch of the all-new Pulsar which is touted to be one of the biggest launches of the year

Nostalgic... My first new motorcycle was the UG4 180, year 2010 when I updraded from the used Bajaj I had.... Lots of memories
I bought the cbz in 2003 even though it cost more than the 180 at the time. No regrets whatsoever, still going strong.
Same here... Bought CBZ instead this rough piece of shit.... CBZ is a legend... Pulsar is just crap like we humans.

My pulsar dts-i 2005 UG2 model as done 3,72,000 kms till date and still running..
but engine done once at 2,20,000 change kms..

I never owned pulsar bike, but my brothers own different models.Pulsar first model round headlamp with electric start was the bike which catched my eyes in early 2000's in our village.There was a lots of memories about pulsar bike models. I still remember when my younger brother had new pulsar 220fi and I earn them how to ride it.

Love for this bike started way back in year 2003 when I was studying in the 8th grade father took me to a bajaj service centre in colombo to service his boxer AR Bike the day I fall in love with this Pulsar since other bajaj bikes [boxer,callibre] are like pencil 'no offence' Pulsar is the only bulkier bike with round headlamp with bigger tank&engine. Was admiring at this bike, then came ug1wow a mini horse. My dream of owning this bike came true in year 2015 and brought a ug4.5 black 150. But I still love the muscular looks of classic,ug1,2. "Definitely male".
Pulsar 180 all black 2013 model my 1st bike. 9 Years of pure riding journey and many more kms to go.

I didn't know why most of the people liked the Pulsar, how can this bike give thrills while riding. I was on the verge of getting a new bike when my Honda started giving a lot of trouble. Just out of curiosity, I took a test ride of Pulsar F250. I felt an instant connection with the bike and booked it right away. It's been 2 years I'm riding the F250, it never misses to thrill me on daily basis.

Should have mentioned update pulsar 180 got in 2017 with Rear disc for BS4 emission norms. And how they messed up with it with the whole discontinuation of 180 in favour of 180f which flopped badly and then reviving it silently in 2020-21 with BS6 compliant engine and single channel ABS. If this is not a sponsored video then you should have mentioned it too . The pulsar 180cc; The OG sport bike of India has suffered a lot in the last couple of years due to Bajaj's stepmotherly treatment towards it .
If I wanted to buy a 180cc bike then it would be pulsar 180 BS6 instead of Hornet 2.0 or RTR 180 . I mean this has always been the best of both worlds actually Because 150 is a commuter and 220f has become a powerful chappri bike of sorts but the 180 still offers the best of both worlds performance and mileage.
Appreciate your thoughts Aashutosh. We are celebrating the 20 year legacy of the Pulsar and mentioning the failures, would ruin the fun of the celebrations. Well, credit where its due, Bajaj did realise the importance of the bike which is why they revived it.
My dad bought one when they first came out….i was just a kid back then…..but we were so happy…..unfortunately my dad passed away the same year of brain tumor 😢

Actually apache rtr is the king in 160 cc segment,it produces 17.6 bhp power.rtr also has better acceleration than ns 160,even hero xtreme has better acceleration than ns160

Not sure if you will respond, but if you do, it will be great. I am a proud owner of a 2004 (UG1) 150 DTSi (from my college days). And it needs restoration. I am very finicky in regards to the local servicing technicians and therefore cannot hand over to them; bad experiences primarily are the reason. But now I really need someone who loves the breed Pulsar and can help my steed to restore. Since you have had ur College days at Pune, (MH14AN9580), can you please help me restore mine. Not sure how do I connect to you, hence the message on the forum.
