    It's japanese style, not west style, so i think their use vocoder is so damn good. Vocoder is his vocal identity.

    Actually at the first time I heard this band, I love the vocoder style in their chorus... That element is the best thing I've ever heard in Japanese songs....

  • @natnut4491

    well they genre is electrocore ofc vocalist will use vocoder/autotune.. It's like a metal band but uses guitars without distortion ..
    i know some people dont like it, but that doesn't mean autotune is garbage.. even the first time I listened to this band, I felt uncomfortable.. but now i love this band..lol..

    This is the only song from FALILV I know. It's an anime opening song from Parasyte, one of the best anisongs I've heard. One of the best anime shows too. I thought the song fit the anime very well. So much so that I actually checked out the full song, when I typically skip the anisongs... The MV definitely sounds better than this live.
    Also, from what I understand, vocoder is NOT autotune. They use the vocoder in this song to add the robotic sound to the singer's voice. It's an artistic/stylistic choice I think. But it doesn't correct pitch or anything.

    • @houdoyoudo6714
      @houdoyoudo6714 3 года назад

      Yeah you also can hear the voice that when So with Taiki part that his sound wasn't get pitched/corrected. Just the sound changed to be robotic

    Very good take of giving critique to the band.I appreciate it. As a drummer (who happens to do screams as well), I understand where you are coming from.
    I've been a fan of this band for close to 8 years now.
    For quick videos on checking out:
    1. Believe Yourself - for natural singing voice (only available on studio album).
    2. Sparkling Sky Laser Live - the singer does some live harmonies.
    2. Crossover - magnum opus of this band's screamer for screaming vocals (first one man show for live performances - the singer does screams as well)
    As for this track, man. This song is like the 9th or 10ish for the setlist so we gotta factor in the undeniable human element about vocal projection (especially for screams) where it gets a lil harder to project as the concert goes on(short of breath, minimal scream tonal pitches.. Etc). Also, Minami plays a keyboard WHILE screaming in some section of the song which, for me, highly demands a good attention of independence and physical prowess between the vocals, piano playing(take note he is playing a piano leads most of the time, not backing chords) and high energetic stage presence.
    Anyways man. I highly appreciate your informed critique of this band. I hope you'll check the ones I recommended. Cheers!

    This was all totally fair, idk why everyone’s losing their shit. FALILV uses a vocoder effect on the vocals and it’s very very different from most metal bands. It’s not surprising that it would be off putting to some people. I personally think it’s cool and I like it a lot but not everyone will lmao chill out

    Check out their live performance, Power of Life and Death. More raw and harsh vocals. Also the main singer can sing but he just chooses that for the effect/style. The screamer is actually pretty good but he just jumps around a lot.

    I'm huge fan of them, but enjoy your reaction and critics for them. Maybe you can check their heavy song and can see good side of them. here some of their heavy song :
    crossover,
    virtue and vice,
    step of terror,
    counterattack of the sesame sized bodies,
    breakout your stained brain,
    power of life and death.
    And please check the studio version first, not the live version. They moved a lot so it makes them exhauted in the live perfomance.

    I get why some people don't like vocoder effects, I just don't understand why most of them react like the vocalist is committing a crime or some shit. lol

  • @bigfriki
    @bigfriki 3 года назад +4

    Guys guys, stop the hating. I perfectly get his point on the vocoder/autotune from a vocalist's perspective. The thing about this band is that it all doesn't really matter. I personally don't care too much if the singer can sing or not and I definitely know for a fact that there are better screamers/growlers out there in metal. But nobody (specially not the band themselves) is claiming otherwise. They are absolutely not the most talented band out there. And I get that their mixing of genres (metal, pop, electronic, etc.) isn't for everyone. But personally I haven't had this much fun watching a live band in a long time and that's all that counts for me. ;-)
    PS: regarding the super high pitched singing: that's kinda part of their 'thing', so if you don't like it than it's just not for you.

    its autotuned for the artistic aspect, not to help him sing...it was meant for the overall sound, i can see how u would miss that tho if u only ever watched this one video about them, but i can tell u didnt really care for the song too much anyway so no big deal

    Awesome reaction man..love your reaction when you explaining/criticize their vocal.. actually almost all of their songs mixed So's vocal on vocoder/auto tune. He actually can sing but the band keep it as their main "musical Identity" or "uniqueness" on their band for electronicore genre.. their songs are better at studio version like their heavier song Crossover, it's 100% scream for Minami and no clean vocal's.. anyway thanks for having a reaction to this band🤘🏻
    Keep moving forward man🤘🏻🔥

    Fair, autotune/vocoder isn't for everyone, and I know I'm normally not a fan of it -- but this band and Daft Punk is the exception to me haha. The criticism on Minami's screaming is fair and I'm sure he'd agree, too. Some things that sounds like oohs and aahs are actually words, though, and most of the lyrics to this song is originally in English -- only Japanese part is the chorus I believe. I'd recommend other lives that shows a bit more variety (and better sound from Minami) but if you're generally not into the electro/autotune sound then it's hard for me to want to request for more lol. To each their own. Thank you for being honest while also still being open minded and respectful. I see you have a reaction video to the gazettE so I'm gonna go and watch that now :D I understand the want to react to live performances (I kind of judge whether I like a band or not based off of that) so I do want to recommend a reaction to the gazettE Ninth Odd Smell (live) and Falling (live).
    Also, kind of laughed at myself because I'm waiting for some friends to msg me on discord to play Valorant and I heard a notification and checked... then realized it was from your video lol
