    This video is not about whether climate change is real or not. It is not telling you how to behave. I never liked "preachy" messages, so I tried to take out any preachiness. Most of us are able to see the real truth behind these agendas that the news and politicians force on us. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't take care of earth. Be the change you want to see in the world.

      Citation needed on the claim about plastic not actually being recycled. Is that an American thing? Is it a thing in one of the tiny states of America? I've heard the claim before, but it's just not true.
      America is famous for landfills and not reusing trash. It's not a prototype for the world. In Central and Northern Europe (bar the UK) there are no landfills. Garbage is sorted and reused. The stuff that isn't directly reused is burnt for heating and electricity. Not optimal, but not as grim.

      Do you want to know what the real problem is? It's you're average consoomer who actually look at these people as authority figures and take everything they say at face value without a shred of nuance. In fact, your average person, who some people affectionately call "NPC's" because they identify so completely with their thoughts and inner monologue and with the collective conscious of their community and the media they consume, that they aren't capable of observing their thoughts and perhaps analyzing them with introspection and reflection, and as a result aren't capable of nuanced thought. Because of the stories and media they're raised on, they see everything in black or white.
      And typically the only thing that will break this is some kind of tragedy, or, more rarely, they may see something where the official narrative just does not add up. For example, the storming of the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas is where I at age 9 learned not to trust the American government.
      For older people it might have been JFK, and for younger people, 9/11. But I think almost everyone opened at least one eye over the Epstein drama. But unfortunately, nothing ever becomes of these things, and most people go right back to sleep after nothing is done, some like Cypher in The Matrix do so willingly because they get disillusioned.
      Where were all of the stars speaking out about Epstein. The closest we got was Ricky Gervais at that awards show calling out the fact that Hollywood were all friends with him, and that it was an open secret like Weinstein and Kevin Spacey. The fact that the media is more interested in pushing climate change than they are in finding out truth about Epstein and asking why his accomplices haven't been charged is basically all you need to know about what's going on right now.

      @forsak3th 4 года назад +31

      @@globalmuffin2 there is a lot of hate in that comment along with just plain statements without any evidence. Have you ever started a garden? Also permaculture is against chemical and spray. That is monoculture and our current system you are describing. There are many species of plants that require no chemical and spraying. Pawpaws, persimmons, juneberries, mulberries, etc to name a few that can be planted that will yield 50 pounds of fruit in 4 or 5 years. No spraying is required. Now think about each person planting a fruit tree like this in their yard? Its that simple. Example: 10 people decide to plant one persimmons that is hardy and disease resistant to their zone/area. That is close to 500 pounds of fruit per year. You can also plant varieties that ripen at different times expanding the season over 3 months. This is just with persimmons. Abundant is everywhere.

Swapping grass, which is a desert for insects, with growing Organic vegetables for us and flowers for the insects. Setting up some extra birdhouses, beehotels and planting 4 fruit trees (good for polinating insects and great food for us).. and not cutting away small trees/bushes to Get a «clean look», nature is wild and thrives better this way. looking out on my garden now gives more joy now than ever before and feels sooo satisfying. Thank you for the nice video, but I have some constructive criticism about your analysis. Only limiting this discussion to a single model, in this case Maslow's hierarchy of needs, provides a very narrow explanation to the issue that can easily be refuted through a few examples.
    If the hierarchy of needs explains why some might not care about the environment because their fundamental needs aren't met, then by your logic all people who have strong relationships and earn decent incomes should be advocating for environmental causes. However, in the real world, many people from these backgrounds don't necessarily feel the need to do that. In addition, many people who actually live from paycheck to paycheck do care about the environment and consciously try to reduce their carbon footprint, recycle, and avoid plastics.
    Furthermore, in your video you mentioned that politicians can preach about climate change, again, because they are wealthy and don't deal with the struggles of the average person. While that's true, politicians from different political parties don't necessarily agree with each other and some actually call climate change a hoax. So the problem lies deeper than just satisfying one's hierarchy of needs. Perhaps more education is needed?
    Even if individually everyone did care about the issue, corporations and factories have much more influence than any single person. Without any concern for the environment, greed and competition can drive corporations to neglect any long term negative environmental effects. On an international scale, how can a country like the US compete on the market if another country like China have much less restrictions on carbon emition and pollution?
    I already rambled for too long, but my main point is that you can't just explain this issue using one model. Reality is always much more complex with fiscal, political, and international factors. I know talking about all of this is beyond the scope of one RUclips video, but let me know what you think. Cheers!

      The polar bear population is currently at record high levels and threatening the people of the North to such a degree that they have applied for additional licences to cull them.
      Polar bears have survived melted ice caps in the past and will do so again, if such an event ever reoccurs. That won’t be any time soon though as the Arctic ice cap is currently growing and will continue to do so with cyclical solar warming of the earth presently on the wane.
      In case you missed it the latest cry from the catastrophists is fear of an impending “mini ice age” like the one the Earth has just slowly warmed up from, the “Little Ice Age” of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Please hear me when I say this though, I believe the poisoning of the planet is one of the top things we should be caring about but the mess of weeds that is climate change is exactly that, a mess of weeds. The biggest problem is that almost all the studies cited are older and don't include the recent studies done on the effects of Solar forcing on our environment. This is a huge problem and I encourage people to please research this for themselves if they are passionate about this. If I had to choose what I believe is the thing to be working to stop, it's hands down, the poisoning of the planet. This doesn't resonate with me. I was taught in my science class at school about climate change and why it was a threat. Since then I have cared about it, decades later nothing seems to have been done. I could live in a cave and join XR and it wouldn't make a difference. The reason the climate continues to be destroyed is because active climate policy hurts financial interests, these interests lobby government, they pay to produce pseudoscience and they run and fund the media to make sure climate change is not on the agenda. Thus climate change never becomes real for anyone, it's like the elephant in the room. But it's difficult to conceptualize when the politicians don't care, the media doesn't care and pseudoscienctists and conspiratards gaslight the hell out of climate science.
    They're able to make people terrified of terrorism when you're statistically more likley to die falling off a ladder. But climate change which could end civilisation as we know it, which exacerbates the forest fires and hurricanes and floods we are *currently* dealing with - people cannot muster up enough fear for that. Maslow's hierarchy doesn't make sense in that respect.

    • @shmangledshaman
      @shmangledshaman 4 года назад +8

      You see, your connection and acknowledgement that climate change is very legitimately of physiological concern: "But climate change which could end civilisation as we know it, which exacerbates the forest fires and hurricanes and floods we are currently dealing with", is exactly why you care about it. The threat of it has been lowered down on the list of priorities for you because you can see it has severe physical consequences, which makes complete sense! The reasons it remains so high on other's list of priorities are that of this video's and yours - "(Climate change is) difficult to conceptualize when the politicians don't care, the media doesn't care and pseudoscienctists and conspiratards gaslight the hell out of climate science."
      You are making the same points as this video - he is not saying it is not worth caring for or worrying about climate change (which I would personally agree that it is), just that there are multiple forces and factors removing the severity of its implications in most people's lives. You, and I, were lucky enough to be shown how important it is to care for the climate and our environments from our time in school - and whatever connections made about how serious this all is and how that impacts our lives (physically speaking, along with with other necessities (the first or at least second tier)).
      Hope you can see what I'm trying to say here. I am a big fan of Maslow's list of hierarchies as it has helped me understand myself and the world around and wanted to see if I could help you see how his theory actually does apply to this (as it almost always does).
      Thanks for reading! :)

      @@shmangledshamanI'm very familiar with Maslow's hierarchy of needs and agree that it is extremely insightful. However, I don't see why it applies within the context of this video. If our physiological needs come first then everyone would care about the impending shit storm of climate breakdown. I don't see why it takes actualization to think that melting our icecaps and frying our atmosphere is a bad idea. I think this is more of a case of manufactured consent, the real severity of this crisis has not been understood by the majority of people because it's been hidden away and downplayed. I don't think anyone in their right mind who was actually given the information wouldn't take this with the utmost seriousness, so long as the news and media treated this as a crisis, and the politicians treated this as a crisis, and the entire scientific community, without fossil fuel industry funded quacks pushing their pseudoscience, treated this as a crisis. You don't need to be all you can be, to see an asteroid hurtling to earth and think "The world's governments should do everything in their power to stop that".
      I imagine in a parallel universe where the yanks had a sensible electoral system and Al Gore was voted in, climate change would be taken seriously by everyone. Unfortunately, the current president calls climate change a hoax and he calls pandemics a hoax and he thinks it will all just go away like a miracle, or if things get bad just inject yourself with disinfectant and the atmosphere with sulphur, I've come to the conclusion that here in our universe we're trapped inside the dumbest disaster movie of all time.
      Procrastination on climate change is not due to a lack of personal fulfilment, it’s due to a lack of education. IMHO.

      Absolutely excellent reply. I am a science teacher and I feel this video actually does a disservice to its viewers with the last half. The first part is good, Maslow's hierarchy is a great example of why people don't care now, but the science is absolutely clear. The problem is, as Jh5578 says, big money businesses and governments fighting against good science and the greater good of humanity in the interest of profits and power. This video seems to try to make the people who are trying to take action to save humanity into... bad guys??? or at least make them look foolish, and that is unacceptable. Why cast doubt upon people who are actively trying to do things to improve the life of those who need that bottom tier of Maslow's hierarchy?

If you have a higher status, you will have an easier time finding someone. And so forth.

    I AM SO GLAD I CLICKED ON THIS VIDEO! I was deciding what I should watch before my workout and glad I chose this. I didn't expect this video to go in the direction that it did but I am so happy that it did.
    When I was truly guided by my ego, the activist in me was only preaching for the sake of clearing my conscious and to simply fuel my own hierarchy amongst people I believed were below me because they didn't know basic things like care for the earth. It was only after I loosened the control of my ego that I realized that unfortunately so many people including myself don't see the point you are making in this video. We can preach all day about the amazon rainforest and the water levels and the coral reef dying but like you addressed in the video, the people aren't going to care because truly in the way our society pushes negativity and low vibrations how can we expect anyone to care when they don't care about themselves. And not assuming that is every single human on this earth but it definitely is the good majority of us. We have to start focusing on the individual. We collectively have to learn that society is one big human being, and we each are the cells. If one cell is defected, whatever it will die and the body will go about its day. But if multiple cells are fucked then the whole body will die. There isn't even a balance in society, it is so lop sided one way that unfortunately it will take a long time before change.
    And it will take some time, for everyone to focus on themselves would require massive effort in those that are aware of this. It will require patience not as one but with the masses collectively which realistically is easier said than done lol but I am happy that you guys made that the message in this video because it truly is the sole solution to fixing not only climate change but so many other low vibration actions and events we do as a society. We can do better, but before we focus on the we we must put the necessary time into the self. Hope everyone is doing well during this quarantine and take this time to really develop themselves, raise vibrations!

But I'm educated enough to know a funny phrase (propagandistic?) when I see it. What if the media were to start calling climate change advocates something like, "Climate Stability deniers." Well, that sure doesn't sound very appealing and almost seems like a veiled insult. While it is true that insulting the opposition might not be a great tactic if you wish to change their mind, you do have the right to be as insulting as you wish, but at least have the courage to tell people when you are insulting them instead of pretending to be some noble holder of esoteric or Gnostic truth dishing out judgement against all who dare disagree with you.

Those that don’t believe humans are causing accelerated climate change are denying the science behind it. Hundreds, even thousands, of scientists have run experiments and have come to the conclusion that humans are warming the planet which is having major effects on our climate. There has yet to be any scientific studies to dispute that. So those that believe that we aren’t altering the climate are denying science. However, they don’t deny other theory’s that use the same physics, chemistry, thermodynamics that climate scientists use. I’m not sure what else you would call someone that trusts all the other scientists but calls fake news when it comes to the climate. Just my thoughts 💭

This is not a "properly basic belief" and is not axiomatic, therefore the scientific evidence must be presented or people must stop demanding that others simply trust them that the evidence is out there, somewhere, in the hands of "scientists." And if the evidence is out there and is easily accessible and is legitimate, then shame on everyone for using bully tactics instead of objective verifiable data.

    Maslow’s hierarchy of needs isn’t finished yet. Actually it isn’t even a hierarchy. We have needs that constantly need fullfillment. It interacts with eachother constantly and it’s the reason we behave as we do. We can use it to explain the ultimate need: energy. But before that we must be able to understand our lesser needs. It is alot simpler than you think. We can use these to regulate our behaviour so we get what we want.. all the time. And that is the goal: living.

      Foremost, Abraham Maslow found more needs in his later years. He devided them up in two categories. Growth needs and deficienty needs. There is research going on right now that simplifies the definitions of these. They already found this: you behave from an egocentric focus (what do I need to be Me) and the holistic focus (What do I want from Him) (everything but Me). Where the upper need from the egocentric focus is control. And the upper need from the holistic focus is love. There is alot more to be said about this and the only reason I know is because my friend is doing his thesis on this right now. The things he says just make sense and he only said them because I asked him how he seemed so in control of his life. He seems truly something else and I’m very excited for what he is to bring to the world. So I can’t give you the evidence you want yet, but I can give you good faith. There is progress coming, and it is coming fast.

      His goal is to find the source of cognition. The base from which the human instinct functions. He says that if he finds it there will be a new era of human conciousness. I’m just excited to live in the same age as him.

    • @TheOnlyBaliot
      @TheOnlyBaliot 4 года назад

      By the way this is all written by a standpoint taken from survival. The act of behaving to survive.

    • @TheOnlyBaliot
      @TheOnlyBaliot 4 года назад

      Sorry for not being able to explain it in depth. The theory behind it is alot harder to understand than the application of it. Talking to him was enough. And he says that that will be the reason others will be able to elevate to his level. Simple self-recognision. Explaining your own life and behaviour and putting that in perspective. A way for everyone individually to reach the life they want. He just says that at that point we want the same. Everything.

    How do all those poor people you mentioned at the beginning do this? “Drink clean water”? But many people don’t have access to clean water. Sounds too much like: put yourself first and don’t worry about others. For most people, this stuff is beyond reach. You’re telling people to take care of themselves and maybe, eventually be in a place to help others.

      Human caused climate change is mostly fake like this pandemic. The plandemic hysteria is the replacement for climate change hysteria because it's another way to take away our freedoms, economic and personal and give to the global technocratic elites by the means of a Reightstag Fire false pretext.
      Most of Earth history has been far warmer than today with the ice caps normally melted. 30,000 years ago the Sahara was a rainforest and 35 million years ago the antarctic was swamp and rainforest and because it was warmer there were more trees. Covid19 is not a pandemic because 100,000 deaths worldwide is seasonal flu, as opposed to 100,000,000 deaths from the Spanish flu pandemic.

    I think what's most important is that everyone needs to confront themselves as individuals, before they can attempt to tackle the world around them. We seem to have a very large deficit of people who are calm and centered. But I believe those who are outside of themselves, understand the world around them and make small predetermined sacrifices to attempt to act as recompense for their acts against the climate.
    When we are happy we show it. And when it shows it is better for the individual and the world around them.
    Happiness is work.
    True happiness is a team effort.

A testament to what can be accomplished by government regulation.
