@@mitchellknight739 Same concept as heating the hub but in reverse. You want to heat hub to expand, freeze bearings to contract so they slide in easily
I tried last night for about 2 hours to use all different sorts of tools. Those bearings were not going to budge. If only I had a random blowtorch laying around...?
My spacer wont will only move a little, i cant even get a punch on the backdide of the bearing, i tried beating the spacer sideways and nothing happend, how do i fix this!? Why wont it move to the sidr
You dont have to make it red hot, just warm/hot. You could use a hair dryer, also put the bearing in the freezer for a few hours. That will help the bearing shrink a tiny bit.
oh for some of us with older bikes sometimes the bearing just falls in with no socket that means the hub is worn so i use red loctite or sleeve retainer.
When I took out my bearings, I did not need heat to take them out. However, I had to freeze my bearings AND heat the hub just to make them even possible to go in.
bignose140 Is that inner spacer supposed to be tight and spin with the bearings or should there be a little bit of room so the spacer isn't pressing on the bearings while they spin?
Hey, I bought a used '12 kx250f recently that has aftermarket Rad Hubs and excel rims. I noticed after I purchased that there's play in the wheel and its clamped down and tight with the bolt on the axle. You can wiggle it left to right like there's a washer or shim missing. Could it be the bearings? I can't for the life of me figure it out. Perhaps they're not the right size that the previous owner put in to fit the Rad hubs? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Yes it's the wheel bearings as I'm typing this message I was fixing mine and yea I did the bearings out bush and my wheel was wiggling left to right so yea it's the bearings
Both seals were flush? Do you mean the collars? There suppose to stick out. And I've replaced my bearing before on my KTM and you have to just make sure that the spacer is relatively straight before driving the bearing in all the way. Once the bearings are driven all the way the spacer shouldn't fit THAT tight. He moved it with his finger!
WRONG!! You used a 5lb. sledge hammer to install the 2nd bearing down until the center race seats on the spacer between the 2 bearings, you ruined both bearings. Total incorrect way to install in my opinion, you can never put any force on the inner race. the second bearing does not go all the way to the bottom of the hub, it stops on the spacer when the center race hits it. That guy will be lucky to get thru 1 season with those in, LOL
heating that up with a propane torch is not going to get it hot enough to expand especially in just a few seconds, you would need an oxy/acetylene torch to do it in that time
Another thing to do is too put the bearing in the freezer before installing.

@@mitchellknight739😂😂😂😂 did you really ask why.. 😂😂
Anyone that owns the tools doesnt need the video, pity he didnt sensibly improvise the way we all have to.

this video helped alot I didn't even have to heat it I just banged the bearings out and back in with a bit of grease
One important thing you forget to mention is how to heat the outside of the rim when you have powder coated hubs, also how much grease you need to use

I heard putting the bearings in the freezer for a few hours helps too? Is that true?
😂😂😂 where have you been the past 20 years..

Or just buy new hubs and lace em up.. they are super simple to do and cheap to buy..
When I took out my bearings, I did not need heat to take them out. However, I had to freeze my bearings AND heat the hub just to make them even possible to go in.
The last seal dont sit flush? How do you line up the spacer before you put in the last bearing?
Do you have to order the kit on the left aswell or is that just your choice?
Where can I get one of those kits from! Bearing/Seal press
That kits from harbor freight
U don’t need the fancy tool and u don’t need to heat the hub
Is it bad hat I pulled out the collars on my bike easily without tapping it out?
Marcus Bevzyuk no it's normal on some wheels
Hey guys I’m trying to buy a pit bike with broken back bearings anyone k ow the general cost for fixing it myself or sending it off to be done for me
what was the correct name for the piece that was in between the bearings that sleeve
On my Beta 300rr its called "Inner Spacer" in the manual
bignose140
Is that inner spacer supposed to be tight and spin with the bearings or should there be a little bit of room so the spacer isn't pressing on the bearings while they spin?
how much is average cost to replace rear ball bearings on a dual sport bike?
Dual sports are the lgbtq of moto

Did he hit the inside race?
No
Ahhhhhh a ktm. I see you got the full 5 hour life out of the bearings...
mine lasted an approx 80 hours. Mind you, it is a Husky. What brand do you have, and what lifespan do you produce on your high horse?

How long you exactly heated it
You really don't comprehend how to do the heat.. this one cracked me up..
Appreciate your help 🤝 very helpful
Too much work my pit bike back wheel is slanted and chain keeps coming off
Thanks for the help!
I just used a socket instead of a press
me too
freezing they drop right it small tap
Do you have to use grease???
Yes it will make it wear out slower and create a better seal

Really useful thank you
Could of put a tack weld on the bearing to shrink the circumference of the bearing and it just drops out, but good advise anyways :)

yeah. or put the bearings in the frezzer ay
Crap, the propane is fine
Thanks
God job brother.
Gods not real..
if you can fit it in a freezer you barley need a punch
Okay, now how about REAL life?
sounds like you ought to tighten up your spokes
Thanks Tony hawk
Harbor freight tools? Really?
Do you have to order the kit on the left aswell or is that just your choice?
Just a preference you really dont
Great video ...Thanks
