  • I purchased this truck used with one key and a mess of after market garbage (remote start & alarm). My truck started throwing itself in park while driving and then it wouldn't start unless I played with the aftermarket key fob. I found a Mopar remote start on Amazon with two keys, so this would kill two birds with one stone.

    Most impressive. I had looked at instructions online but it's for the wrong year which looked a lot easier than when I bought my kit my instructions were like yours. I end up taking my to the dealer and charged like three or 4 hours labor. Can't remember exactly. Sure would have taken me a lot longer. Great job. Mine is 2015 also.

    You could’ve done a reflash with AlfaOBD yourself for remote start and not taken to dealer and lost all your previous AlfaOBD work. Saw on the RUclips where another guy did it. You have to do two AlfaOBD procedures. 1 activate remote start. 2 activate hood open sensor in new latch. Boom done!

    • @WorkingOnStuff
      @WorkingOnStuff  4 года назад +1

      I was just nervous. Alfaobd dosen't always work the first time. You only have one shot at programming the RF hub. If it gets messed up, you have to buy a new one. I figured if the dealership messed it up, they would replace it.

    Drives me nuts all of the shit they could easily include at the factory for literally a few extra bucks; the fuse block for my vehicle has space for over a dozen features my vehicle didn't include.

    I'm trying to fo the same thing to my tradesman but in another video the guy just ran the wire through the firewall and into the bcm. He didn't mess with any rf module and claimed it worked fine. What's the difference?
    Thanks in advance

    • @WorkingOnStuff
      @WorkingOnStuff  4 года назад +1

      I don't know what wire he ran to the bcm. The BCM is the body control module. You mean the PDC? The RF hub is synced with your keys. RF stands for radio frequency. My old key did not have remote start, so that's why it was replaced. This was a factory install. I cannot comment on alternate or aftermarket installs.

    Barry Cagle,
    Did you have to go under the steering column to splice anything in? My truck has that wire hanging down where we replaced the hood latch. Did u do anything with the BCM under the steering column, pin 11 I do believe? Just started my install, got the hood latch in and the back seat pulled forward. Thanks for any info u can give.

    Hey Barry,
    Great video. Question for you, how long did the install take? Also when the dealer did their thing with the flash did you say you lost your back up camera and trailer brake function? The dealership should have made sure those worked after the fact?
    Thanks,
    Bill

      It took less than an hour to take everything apart. I mounted the new RF Hub and left the old one hanging by the harness so I could drive it up to the dealership. After they flashed it, it took less than ah hour to put everything back together. When you pay to have the computer flashed at the dealership, there will be a code associated with your vin. Whatever you turn on with alfaobd will be lost. You can just turn it back on with alfaobd again.

      @@billray6557 yes I'm assuming so. Most of the vehicles are pre equipt with the harnesses and ECT. From factory for upgrade options. So if you buy a tradesman and want the options of a limited you can buy the trailer break control from a retailer and just instal so it was aftermarket

    • @WorkingOnStuff
      @WorkingOnStuff  3 года назад +1

      @@billray6557 Alfa OBD is an App in the Google App store that will allow you to flash the computer for upgrades without having to go to the dealership and pay $150 per flash. I installed the mopar backup camera, tow mirrors, and trailer brake myself. Those upgrades are not on file at the dealership, so when they flash it, any changes I made will be gone. I can make unlimited changes with alfaOBD and it's not hard to turn them back on.
