I thought I wanted the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 art lens; however, after looking at long term reviews of it I realized that it is a dust magnet with poor weather sealing and becomes unusable over time. One reviewer talked about having to send it back three different times to be torn apart and cleaned! Not for me! I would LOVE to have a Sony 12-24mm lens, but it's too expensive for me. The Sigma 14-24mm lens has an internal zoom and does not appear to suffer from poor weather sealing. I did buy this lens! I hope this helps someone.

Thanks for watching and commenting. Luckily I have one or two tiny dust bits inside. I don’t use it in a very dusty environment so I presume that is why I didn’t send it for cleaning yet. But you are totally correct saying that the weather sealing should be far better.
If not for work I wouldn’t go for the sony 12-24mm as mentioned earlier the price is eye watering. Thanks again for your input 👍🏻👍🏻 cheers 👋🏻

@@BigPhilOnline I'm glad to hear you are having great success with the Sigma 24-70mm. Unfortunately where I live could easily be referred to as "The Dust Bowl"! I don't dare risk it. I've decided to go with the Tamron 35-150mm 2-2.8. It's definitely more money than I want to spend and I know it will be on the heavy side, but I'm hoping it will be a lens that I can put on my Sony a1 and walk around all day and shoot without having to carry or switch to another lens.

Wow, I wouldn’t even consider the Tamron you’ve mentioned. For me it is an interesting choice. Tbf as long as it gets the job done it is worth every single penny 👍🏻
