I've recently retired due to an inflamed lower back from trying to keep pace with a Robot operating at 💯 % . Had to take early retirement at 62.5 yrs. Now collecting a smaller than anticipated benefits , food stamps ! Rental assistance ! No car .
I went to HEB here in Texas to get my meds (thankfully only $33!) and the lady in front of me said she couldn't pick up one of her prescriptions because she didn't have enough$$$$! I was heart broken for her! Go Bernie!! Please take care and stay safe!
Here's a fact that corporate owned media will never tell you. The cost of housing has become so ridiculously high that it was actually easier for someone to buy a house during the Great Depression than it is now. We've officially gotten to the point where we're worse off than the people who lived through the worse economic downturn of our nation's history.
... and, if someone is trying to get a better paying job/career by going to college, they get stuck there, as well. Tuition has been significantly out-pacing inflation since the early 90s. Tuition at a university with tuition of $3k/semester in 1987, jumped to $29k/semester 28 years later in 2015. Based upon inflation, it shouldn't be over $9k. That's why students are leaving with $100-200k in student loans. Thirty years ago, anyone with 100+k in loans was due to medical, law or vet school. The US is the ONLY country that has citizens filing for bankruptcy due to medical bills. In fact, half of all bk is due to medical bills.
Builders keeping the supply down, slow to build or building with future listings presold, and Corporate residential investors are cash buyers without negotiating demands making easy sales. Welcome slum lord America!

My Grandfather, who was a KY miner, spent his life underground, most days on his stomach & back in an 18 inch crevasse. He died of "the Black Lung". He was a wonderful man & deserved a longer life than he had. His one wish for his sons was that none of them went into the mines & they didn't.
I am a retired member of the carpenters union and although unions are not perfect I can tell you without a doubt that it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I have a pension in addition to my SSI . I had health insurance, and I had an annuity.
Mr. Wong is so right about the generational shift. NO Media outlets dare speak of this. I always appreciate these thorough discussion panels you do Senator with these important voices. We would have a lot less desperate violence in our cities if people were guaranteed dignified retirements and could send their kids to college (those who can afford children that is.)

The economically privileged class will not share willingly. They will not just, sitting by the pool, cocktail in hand, suddenly say, "Wow," I just had a great idea. Why don't we just pay everyone better with good benefits and better working conditions?" You have to give them a push.
The issue is, that hurts their bottom line, so they won't willingly do it. You have to enforce it through government agencies or through strong labor unions
No one ever gives up power willingly. Look at the Republicans and DT, for example. That's all they want. No governing, no platform, only massive inequality that is sucking the middle and lower classes out of a viable life, on purpose. They are removing basic bodily rights from women, threatening the existence of LGBT people and their families, and likely inter-ratial marriages, except maybe not since Clarence Thomas is black and married to a white woman, which is an abomination when viewed before 1961.
The Roper corp my family works at has had so many heart attacks on the job that my family has lost count of them. They keep an ambulance parked outside the building in the summer. There is no air conditioning.

I was one of the Oregon Homecare Workers that appreciates SEIU. When I started we didn't even have Workman's Comp available... in a physically demanding job! I left and came back to work for a friend 6 years later and not only did we have workman's comp, but also federal taxes taken out, health insurance, PTO, and decent wages! I almost felt bad that I made more per hour than caregivers and med aids at assisted living facilities. I had one client at a time, they have too many patients and get called in on days off constantly. The patients suffer for it.
The volume is too low even with headphones on and my volume all the way up I cannot hear you please fix and reupload. Apparently everyone else is going to be loud enough to hear except for Bernie I don't have any money or I would get him a better microphone maybe if someone would like to buy a kidney or something I can get enough money together for Bernie a new microphone.

Robert Reich has stated many times that right-to-work states are bad. These special interest groups hire lobbyists, and they need to be identified by the Federal Government and penalized whenever they cross the line.
Coming from a poor family, the only way I could become a nurse was to borrow tuition money. I cared for mentally ill, addicted & sick inmates ("under serviced groups")., my entire career, including teaching in nursing school after I retired until just this yr. Now, at age 74, I continue to pay $460/month on my student loan. It will be paid off when I am 85. LOL The only way the gov loans were offered meant that interest was paid 1st; starting in 1996 at $44,000. As of 2022, after 26 yrs paying on it, I still owe $37,000! (Mafia loans have better pay off rates.) The highly-touted "Public Loan Forgiveness" program excluded me because my employment started before the program in 2007. I recently had to stop working because of a heart condition & cancer. Where is MY fair "forgiveness" plan. BTW, Biden's $20,000 won't reduce my monthly student loan payment at all. Accessing his plan will help the gov get it's $, but won't reduce my monthly payment-since my debt ends with my passing; so what's the point?
It's kind of hilarious to watch this. I really wanted to learn about the history of unionism and the philosophical underpinnings. Instead I learned how circular arguments develop psychologically among those with a collective framework .
