    I believe the source of vitriol in the comments come from a misdirection of anger at the policy makers and media who forced people to take a medication against their will (regardless of what the science says about its effectiveness and safety) or lose their jobs or ability to travel. It's going to take a long time to rebuild public trust of the medical establishment.

      @christinelewis8397 Exactly this. The goal should always be to educate and give people the ability to make informed decisions. Not to treat the population like pawns and force them to do it for their own good.
      I completely understand the vitriol because more often than not, when it’s for “your own good” it’s due to ulterior motives, especially when governments are involved, but that just isn’t the case here. This is a classic case of government overreach and this is the unintended consequence of it.
      It’s a shame because the science is clear that these types of vaccines are both beneficial and safe. But I think it’s also clear that people should be allowed to make their own choices.

    • @NoahPadi-ij3rf
      @NoahPadi-ij3rf 2 месяца назад +2

      Unfortunately allowing people to make their own choice when it affects others is a very bad idea. You don't want people pooing in the open in their own lawn for instance, because of the smell, the disease and contamination of ground water, although its their private property.

    • @milkywaffles5701
      @milkywaffles5701 2 месяца назад +4

      @NoahPadi-ij3rf If it is beneficial for a person, and the person knows that it is beneficial, then they don’t need to be forced to do it. They will just do it. The last part of the equation (the “know its beneficial), requires education and knowledge. What we need is to educate. It’s sad that you think that the majority of people are irrational and don’t care for others, because the truth is most people are rational and care for others. It’s a gap in knowledge and all government has done is failed to educate and failed to ensure trust. Also I would try to work on your analogies.

    My only objection to vaccinations is the current clinical guideline for infant and paediatric vaccinations in the United States. The CDC (US government Centers for Disease Control) recommends 27 vaccines TWENTY SEVEN - and that's including combined vaccines as a single vaccine - before the age of 24 months! Some for things I've never even heard of, and some are only a risk when travelling (dengue fever). I had the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella), the combined tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis), smallpox (still active in my youth), and (as soon as it was available when I was 7 years old) polio. So, for me, the schedule was vaccination for eight infectious diseases and it was spread out from infancy through age 3, with one straggler (polio). I truly believe that the recommended vaccination schedule is not stimulating a healthy immune system, but overwhelming it. I am not alone in this belief. Statistically, the children who are least likely to receive the full compliment of vaccines on the schedule recommended in the US are the children of pediatricians! I think vaccines are a wonderful invention of modern medicine, but the CDC has gone too far. We need to vaccinate against fewer diseases (especially in infancy) and spread the schedule out. Sadly, it has become a political issue instead of a medical one as your comment section more than adequately demonstrates.

      @@bbybeatboxx Huh? He's a healthy young man with low risk of side effects from vaccination, who is at very high risk from professional exposure, and who is even more at risk of transmitting viral infections to his patients, so it's pretty much a professional necessity. I don't get the influenza shots because I have a very different risk profile. But vaccines are a Godsend. I'm old enough to remember a neighbor's baby who died of whooping cough, my Grandmother went deaf as a child because of measles, and I was confined to the house (a house with no air conditioning in blazing 100+ degree Texas heat!) during polio outbreaks. Different people have different ways of assessing risk, and perfectly reasonable people can disagree. But I think the risks of polio, measles, mumps, and whooping cough, which have NEVER been eradicated - they are merely rare because of vaccines - is much worse than a fairly low risk of a bad allergy response to the vaccine itself. The biggest concern was Thimersol, the mercury preservative, but that's been completely banned and all manufacturing of that preservative halted, back in 2001. Why are you against vaccines? Especially, why are you against vaccines for front-line health workers who are at high risk?

As for Covid, the studies I’ve seen indicate that the novavax shot has the best overall profile for risk/benefit, although it’s often overlooked as an option.

    I desire an in-depth risk vs reward analysis for different demographics; Such as a 20yo male with 0 comorbidities, a 40yo female with 1 comorbidity, a 60yo with 4, etc, and for each one do a risk vs reward analysis of these injections compared to not doing them, such as "He has a 10% higher chance of having symptom X within X time" rather than just "WHO says less chance of C19 for 6 months" or "for my patients". This video seems like an introduction. Nevertheless I remain subscribed.

      As a person who is into (left wing) politics i want to give you another type of optics. It is indeed political and thats okay i believe. People have a reason to not trust both pharma companies and governments, its not just about "good education" because if people prefer to trust a random conspiracy theorist from youtube instead of their governments or pharma companies then the system sucks because it has such a horrible trust issue, tho even education is political so makes sense.
      We are living in a capitalist world and these private pharma companies are driven by profit aka they want your money no matter what so they actually don't really care if you are healthy or not and this drives some people into these exaggerated theories. And dont forget that there were *tons* of scandals around these companies so their credibility was ruined a long long time ago. They did actual bad and shady stuff too often so many people don't trust them anymore at all, both left/right or "apolitical"
      About governments...well I probably shouldn't explain why so many people hate their governments, states basically do bad stuff to people on a daily basis so whatever. Lastly while i cringe hard from conspiracy theorists they do have a place in this world. These people are forcing companies/governments to provide more detailed and thoughtful proofs of a discussed topic, they are asking for more open information (you know like these closed archives we are not allowed to see and if its closed it can be aliens lmao but you get what i mean) and provide actual arguments instead of "just trust us bro".
      Still everything is in a horrible state today because people forget that these conspiracy theorists are doing this stuff for their profit too so they are invested into providing bs just to generate traffic. In the end you can yell at people that its an "easy and basic school science issue" but im sure only actual vaccine sciencists do understand how all of it *actually* works and most of us can analize it only on a very basic level so in the end its a trust issue once again

    It is baffling to me how someone calmly explaining his own decision, while very clearly stating that he isn't encouraging anyone else to do the same just because he did, can receive so many accusations of being a sheep or a sellout, simply for saying something that some people don't agree with. People are allowed to genuinely have different opinions from us without being part of a big conspiracy.
    I really think we should try and avoid seeing people with different opinions as less intelligent or less rational than we are, and keep in mind that it's possible that we might be wrong. As far as I know, the scientific method is about trying to disprove our theories, not confirming them.
    Also, immunology and epidemiology are really complex subjects. Statistically speaking, chances are high that most of us don't know anything about those fields. It's okay to admit it, instead of throwing random facts or article references at each other that we've heard our favorite influencer cite, without even knowing how to fact-check them and weigh them against each other.
    Being interested in science is great, but let's be careful that we don't fall for the Dunning-Kruger effect. The more confident we are about what we believe, the more likely it is that we might get blind-sighted and fall into confirmation bias. Expressing nuance and doubt is okay, and we don't have to 'pick a side' and go on a crusade for it.

Today I believe the benefit to risk:ratio is more at question today, then when those studies were published. We need new studies, but by the time they are done (and they are not being done in a good randomized controlled method) you have lost the window of benefit. Pfizer is less risk of myocarditis than Moderna for sure. I’m curious if the hospital you work at requires vaccination? Why are they not developing a vaccine like influenza? I think there are some unknown risks to mRNA vaccines since it is so new

With respect, I seem to have come to a very different conclusion to your own

    Dr. Brad: Thank you for your continued integrity and stand of the SCIENTIFIC METHOD - so many of the modern miracles that have uplifted humanity have come from it! Sadly, the 'Information Age' seems to have been slowly chipping away at peoples faith in the process (and institutions)... largely because they are uneducated about what science is, and the rigorous standards our institutions must go through. Skepticism is appreciated both IN the scientific community, and has certainly revealed fraud and mistakes from outside, too - so I see it as welcome.
    It's sad that many folks have given up critical thought, just to join an online mob mentality. Likewise sad to see brilliant health professionals also spiral into conspiracy theories (I got so much from Dr. Mercola for decades, but can hardly listen to him anymore).
    Thanks so much for walking the fine line between the (out-of-date, abysmal) modern doctor viewpoints, and the "cutting-edge". I appreciate your continued diligence to carefully review all sides to make your own (educated) views - and I'm sure that most of your audience does, too. Honestly, the best way to shift the global narrative is to keep doing what you are doing: standing in your truth. As Gandhi said: "Be the change you wish to see in the world".
    PS - IMHO, you come across *much* better off-script. Much more authentic.
