Did you hear the "YES!" all the way from North Carolina? Very happy to hear about the additional videos. You will never know how much some of us out here are uplifted by them.
Love how much of an experimenter you are, Danielle. Your courage is infectious! The Henri Studio pots are outstanding & can't wait to see them in full bloom come spring! I look forward to your upcoming vlogs, they're sure to be festive!
Excited for more winter vlogs and really like your thinking regarding putting them out in the evening! Again I will say Danielle...you should write a book.. what a beautiful and informative book that would be!
One of the most beautiful gardens i've seen. Pure pleausure to watch it. Thanks from Scotland ;)
Hi Danielle, I love your planters! you did a beautiful job decorating them! the lights look especially beautiful in the evening, your whole garden space looks so enchanting. Your garden library was like being in a fairy tale in your Instagram video, and it looks so inviting during the daytime as well. You managed to fill it with just the right touch of the holiday vibe. Thanks for the planting tutorial for the tulips, I am anxious to try that and plant some amaryllis bulbs. I am looking forward to the beautiful spring bulbs you planted in your trench, great way to display them and harvest for the stand! I hope you do a tutorial on waxing an amaryllis bulb. Thank you and Longfield gardens for the bulb discount! Your videos give so much inspiration, and your side kick is adorable! haha 😍
Love these winter pots! I have considered introducing red twig into my garden, but have never considered the large pots. Very creative ❤
Thank you for the discount code! I paused the video to go order and then laughed that the first few amaryllis you showed were the varieties I bought. They were so pretty and I needed white to add to my collection. I'm trying the root-soaking method this year from last year's bulbs. I also threw in some clearance allium bulgaricum to get to the free shipping and because they looked cool and funky! I'm looking forward to additional content in December!
Cant wait to see the muscari river!
Those planters are stunning!
Great video, thank you. Looking forward to the amaryllis coming soon.
I live in 5B/6A and in my experience, it is too cold to use an unheated shed for pots of bulbs, at least with 1/4" resin pots. I set my pots into the ground during the winter.
Thank you Danielle, love the hat. My bulbs in pots always seem to rot, I plan to keep them in a covered spot this winter.
Great win last night. Fly Eagles Fly. I have grape hyacinths in my garden for over 20 years. They pop up anywhere.
Wow! Those pots are stunning! All of my terra cotta pots go into storage for the winter as even in my zone 6b/7a they may crack given the right amount of freeze. I have one large heavy terra cotta pot on my patio where I plant tulips for the spring and annuals in the summer. However, I wrap it in burlap and that has worked over the years to not only prevent squirrels from digging up my bulbs, but to protect the pot from cracking. Thanks for the discount code, just added 5 more amaryllis to my collection. Can never have too many amaryllis!!
You are my favourite RUclips channel😊I think you have become a RUclipsr unintentionally. Please remeber to show us the train set you normally have for Christmas.
In zone 5B Northern Illinois, last winter I tested leaving a large 2' x 2'+ winterized glazed clay pot with tulips on the covered porch, unfortunately they rotted. The pots that I carried into my unheated garage over the winter bloomed beautifully in the spring.
I did the same experiment the last 2 winters- the tulip bulbs in a pot in my unheated garage bloomed beautifully. I did water sparingly every 3 weeks or so. I’m zone 5b Michigan
Really love the pots
Yes please! More of your vlogs would be wonderful! I have never grown amaryllis because I'm afraid my cats will get into them. I think I'll get my sister-in-law one since they don't have pets. Watching you grow yours is also fun! So many beautiful types. Thank you Danielle!
Beautiful pots! I like to forage and use what I fine to mix in with my greens🌲
WOW! Love your videos and the kindness you share. I've learned & been inspired so much from you! The way you have redone the section in front of your beautiful library room is so stunning. Thanks
Wow!! That garden library area, outside and in is just stunning!!!!! And thank you so much for the discount code on the most beautiful bulbs. That was so sweet. And, your hat is perfection.
Danielle, your comments are always so helpful! I didn’t know that the nymph varieties were shorter amaryllis. Thank you.😊
I'm right there with you on the Amaryllis addiction! I have about three dozen of them in just one season. I still want more! Looking for particular varieties now. I just started watering mine about a week ago. One is already blooming, and several more are showing buds. So excited to watch them bloom!
Bought 3 amaryllis bulbs from Longfield Gardens, will be sifting through your videos for encouragement and instruction on how best to proceed. Thanks for all you do.
Looking forward to your vlogmas! Sounds perfect!
Your honesty on needing more bulbs! Happy planting
Your spring garden will be gorgeous! I brought some of my Amaryllis up to break dormancy and my husband checks daily and gets excited when he sees leaves popping up 😊
I just bought my first Amaryllis bulbs that intend to keep and grow every year thanks to all the education you have given us. I'm so excited!!!
I still can’t believe it’s November. Thanks for sharing 😊
That area surrounding your garden library has absolutely turned out so beautiful!
I absolutely love your new addition pots to the garden 😍
Your garden library is so beautiful. I so enjoy your visits. That's what I am calling your videos. You are so warm and pleasant and you share so much information. You have made me want to grow Amaryllis.
I note that your amaryllis bulbs are in the same style pot which will be lovely through out your house. I also noticed the bulbs are primarily white with red accents. I love that picotee.
Can't wait to see them all blooming.
The weather is yucky & I am all caught up with my getting ready for winter in the garden!! Now i can marathon some Northlawn flower farm!! 🥰
Thank you Danielle. 🦃🍁💚🙃
Those picatee amaryllis are so pretty! I just foraged my garden and made a holly/cedar/spruce planter-you inspired me!
I love the Muscari River idea! You've given me inspiration to do winter urns.
with your discount code, I have a wonderful excuse to buy more amaryllis - thank you so much!
The winter planters are just stunning!
Glad I saw this because I went crazy and purchased a bunch of bulbs on sale from Bluestone Perennials and was getting nervous about where I was going to plant them!
Anytime hanging out with you is so fun!! Looking forward to Vlogmas🎄
I can’t wait! Love all your videos
I love how ur face lights up around this time to wake up the amaryllis ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for your discount code! ! I just ordered Amaryllis Double Sweet Nymph, Amaryllis Single Terra Cotta Star and Amaryllis Single Cape Horn 😊
Would love to see your set-up for growing amaryllis in volume for floral sales. Do you use lightning or just natural light, etc.? Thank you!
Happy to spend the day in the garden with you ❤ I’m in PA as well up in the mountain of hidden valley I love to grow bulbs but I have ventured in the amarílis world yet. Happy to learn before I invest
I took advantage of Longfield Gardens bulb sale yesterday and ordered another 93 allium (too much deer pressure to plant other bulbs). I was only looking for one variety but kept adding items to the cart until I reached the free shipping total, why not?
Thank you very much for the coupon! I can’t afford to buy more than one per year. I purchased a replacement for the Amadeus we lost last year to mealy bugs. Very grateful ❤
Hi Danielle - thank you for your thoughtful and creative videos. I live in SE Pennsylvania, and I’ve learned much from you!
Also, I have a question for you about amaryllis. Have you had problems with brand new, store-bought bulbs not flowering?
I planted 6 bulbs in 2 containers of loose soil, and lightly watered them about 6 weeks ago. 1 bulb bloomed after a couple weeks, and the other 5 bulbs have not done anything.
I’ve never had amaryllis take so long to show signs of growth.
Any insight is appreciated. Happy gardening!
I’m very excited for more Christmas content from you - I just started watching this year and LOVE your channel 🎄
Looking forward to all you do!
Really looking forward to more videos from you. How much light is needed for an amaryllis bulb to bloom? I don’t have much light in my home but I love the look of those lovely amaryllis flowers. BTW - Love your hat! Can you share your source?
Hi friend! You can have them bloom in a low light situation the first year. If you want to keep the bulbs and have them rebloom in subsequent years the leaves will need as much light as possible while growing as a houseplant over the winter and spring months. Unless you are in a zone 9-11 where they can be grown outside year round. Then you could plant the bulb outside after you enjoy it inside. A few varieties are hardy in zone 8.
Good job Grace, go fetch mom a Steelers hat 😊
Love the pots and what you planted in them. I ‘m from Canada in a zone 3b/4, wondering where I could purchase something similar. Will do some checking.
Do you have a link for the amaryllis pots? Love this video on planting bulbs
Bulb addition here too…ok fine then…all plants 🪴 😮❤
How wonderful the garden looks at night with the fairy lights. Gives you something to look forward to when the evening turns dark so early.
I’m still struggling with gnats! Sad but I think I have to not get the amaryllis inside h to they die off more…
I hear you friend! Have you tried a waxed amaryllis? You shouldn’t have the gnat problem with those!
Hi Danielle, I’m excited to see your show of bulbs in the spring! I’m sure it will be awesome. Question, I have a scent sensitivity and I’m wondering if there are any varieties of amaryllis that are less scented? I know i can’t do paper whites and I’ve heard that amaryllis are scented too but i love them so much. TIA
Hi Sherry! I agree that even the “lightly” scented paperwhites can be stinky. Personally, I have found the “fragrant” amaryllis such as Blossom Peacock to have almost no scent or a very light and pleasing scent. With that being said - I would recommend Magical Touch, Gervase, Alaska, Sweet Star, and Red Pearl. I have never noticed any fragrance coming from those varieties.
@@NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens thanks so much!! I’ll so bulb shopping right away!
I might try to plant tulips in a container 🫣 Hopefully they’ll survive- zone 6a
I am in zone 8b, and I put tulips in terracotta pots. This year’s bulbs are still in barn refrigerator. The prechill will not be adequate until the end of December. When I plant them, I will make second layer of muscari. Last year I had a problem with squirrels digging them up so this year I will come up with a deterrent. I tried red pepper but it was not completely effective.
Try using remay or plant cloth over your pots and tucking it under the pot at the bottom. I’ve had no trouble with squirrels or anything else when doing so and by the time the bulbs are up, the squirrels seem to leave them alone. Good luck. 😊
Looking forward to it!
I love your hat! GO BIRDS! 🦅
Oops one more qoestion! Are you routinely putting your amaryllis in a glass of warm water for 8 hours or so before potting?
Hi Judy! I have been soaking the roots of my new bulbs for 12-24 hours. I haven’t done this with my older bulbs but that’s a good idea. Thank you!
@@NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens Ok great! I saw your other video on that and then wondered why you weren't soaking these. I will soak all mine this year, thanks to your video, and see how it all goes. I ONLY have about 20 amaryllis. Not in your league YET! HAHA
So nice you showed what the amyrillis will look like. Question do you have hints on how to mark bulbs so you don’t dig up last years bulbs when planting this years bulbs?
Hi friend! I’ve found that looking back at old videos and photos helps. I review the previous year’s spring garden tours prior to bulb planting.
Thank you for the great video! Can you share where you get your amaryllis pots?
Hi friend! I have purchased most of them at Kens Gardens in Smoketown PA.
Do you feel compelled to water? We in New England are in a major drought and I’m worried about all my gardens
Hi friend! Same thing here! I have been watering all my bulbs in throughly after planting. I’ve also been watering newly planted shrubs and recently transplanting perennials. Hope you get some rain soon ❤
I had not even thought of watering bulbs that had been planted in prior years. Luckily we did get a couple of real soaking rains. I believe you did too?
Have you ever experienced your bulbs shrink the next season? If so what causes that? Thank you.
Hi friend! Yes! This always happens and is normal. As the bulb pushes out the leaves and bloom stalks it naturally shrinks. It will bulk back up outside during the summer.
Hi Danielle. Are there drainage holes in the bottom of the Amaryllis pots sitting on your radiator?
Hi friend! Yes. All the amaryllis pots have a drainage hole.
@NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens ok. Thank you Danielle ❤️
In in Zone 6 and I can't leave my bulbs in pots outside. They rot on me. I plant up lots of containers and keep them in my unheated garage and they do fine that way!
I live near State College Pennsylvania. I tried the lasagne method last year and it was a fail. The bulbs did not push up through the soil in the pot. When I dug them up I found that the bulbs were rotten. It may have been due to water running off the nearby porch roof. No matter I dont want to attempt it again and waste the bulbs.
Curious...why didn't you soak your amarylis bulb roots when you took them out of dormancy this year? I remember from another year when you demonstrated that process. Not worth that step?
Hi friend! I have been soaking the root system of new bulbs. I haven’t done that with older bulbs mainly because of the quantity I bulbs I have to wake up. ❤ I hope you have a great day!
I have had no luck with Paperwhites the last year or two. I put them on a bed of stones….with water unjust up to the bulb and they do nothing. I just got some Paperwhites from a Dutch bulb company a few weeks ago and they are just sitting there. I don’t get it. Never had problems getting them to bloom in years past. Any ideas??? Maybe I will plant the next batch in soil and see if I have better luck.
Hmmm that is strange. Do you think you may have gotten bad bulbs? Did they put out leaves? Any sign of green coming out of the top of the bulb?
I’ve grown various amaryllis for 15+ years, I f they have a scent we haven’t smelled it yet.
I'm in MA zone 6a and we usually get too much rain in the winter and potted bulbs rot.
what did you put on your front porch for Christmas
I appreciate seeing your hat. 🪴
Thank you for your garden videos and advice.
Zone 8b--PNW--I leave tulips even in thin plastic pots and they do fine. The REAL enemy here is squirrels not weather!
I'm near you - about 30 minutes south...How do you deal with squirrels digging into your pots outside??? :(
Up in Canada here on an acreage and I have loads of squirrels, but I encourage and feed them as they are so amusing ❤️
I top my pots with a small gravel mix, they don’t like that and have left mine alone. Good luck!
Brenda🇨🇦
@brendahayes3365 oh, gravel! Great idea!! Thank you
Great idea with the gravel! Thank you! I’ve heard Sarah Raven say that putting rose prunings on top of pots helps. I’m hoping the evergreen branches will deter them.
@@brendahayes3365 Oh my gosh, great idea. And so much more attractive than the upside plastic fork idea! Thank you.
In all seriousness, in your outdoor garden do you do all the manual labor yourself or do you have a crew of some type helping you behind the scene?
Hi friend! I do not have help❤
WOW - I'm so impressed. I have learned so much about growing amaryllis bulbs from you. I actually buy the bulbs on clearance right after Christmas at Lowes, Home Depot, etc and grow them throughout the rest of the winter for some bright flowers in the house during the dreary months.
Hope you got your cute hat back 🐕 😂
❤
Go Birds 🦅😆
GO BIRDS!!
❤
💚❤💚
I feel waxed amaryllis are tortured. I think they should be free to root in soil!
I love you.
Ps the scent of paper whites is too strong for our family too
I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOUR SOIL. I HAVE CLAY SOIL THAT TURNS INTO CONCRETE
That hat is worrying me...
Hey Danielle I messaged you on Instagram I hope you received it 👍🏻. I’m loving your videos keep up the good work
I just got together with a sweet friend for dinner and she brought me a gift 🎁 An Amaryllis!! I was so excited! Especially since this year I thought I shouldn’t buy any for myself. It’s called Double Galaxy Dancing Queen❤️🤍 I think you might be responsible for my addiction 😂🥰
