Her 2nd best album. A masterpiece! Also, she had a lot of input in this album and she really enjoyed working on it. This was at a point where she wanted to take her music to a different direction and was really loud about having control over her artistry. Britney stans know that she recorded a secret album called Original Doll in 2004, all written by herself, and she fought with her label to release it but she wasn't able to.
@@FernStone Yeah, the only song known and released from that album is Mona Lisa. She literally had to sneak in on a radio show to play that song. You can find it on RUclips if you're interested. That album is mysterious and while some think that she wrote really deep tracks that exposed the music industry (especially because her label tried to prevent her from releasing it) other people think that some of the songs she wrote were just released for Blackout instead and that Britney just abandoned the album and focused on Blackout. It's really interesting either way.
Another interesting song, that unfortunately was never released and never leaked, is rebellion, she previewed it in her site. A rebellion against the industry control.
@@FernStone search for Let Go and Baby Boy. They are from the Original Doll era. Written and composed by Britney and sang in her natural deeper tone ❤️
Touch of My Hand and The Hook Up is literally my favourites off this album. I love the middle eastern influences in this album and how involved britney was overall. That’s her 1st bible for sure
Found you guys through Britney and loving your honest reactions and critiques. This was the first album where she had full say in who she worked with. Toxic wasn't meant to be a single either but she pushed for it over Boom Boom thankfully! Can't wait for Blackout- this is where she'd fired her management and is executive producer. It's the Pop Bible in my opinion! Great stuff guys, will check out more!
Touch of my hand and shadow are my favourite Britney songs, Britney was always ahead off the game and experimented with different genres on this. her chaotic EP is also fantastic pop music. Over to you now is fantastic!
this is an album she definitely loves! there's a video of her buying a copy in 2006 (iconic) and she's performed breathe on me and touch of my head since this era plenty of times, u can tell she's really connected to it hehe
Britney wrote Everytime with her backup singer. Britney wrote the main piano riff at the piano and then put lyrics to it. It’s about her breakup with Justin
@@juste9177 that’s an internet conspiracy that came out after she revealed her abortion. It’s not true. Her co-writer confirmed it was about the breakup
Surprising enough, the label didn't want Toxic or Me Against The Music as singles, they wanted Outrageous. She fought for the songs, came up with the video treatment...
The album was on another level back in 03. She was so overexposed at this time and In the Zone was such a darker much more introspective look at Britney at this time. Definitely one of her most unique records! Love these reactions. It's really cool to see people experiencing some my favorite albums for the first time! 🌈💕
The story behind Everytime is that she wrote it with the other writer in Milan at Donatella Versace’s house at the piano about her break up with Justin in response to Cry Me A River.
To me it makes sense that this album is not super cohesive, because it represents her life perfectly. This album consists of a slow, soft side (ballads and intimate) songs, which shows her vulnerable side irl (since she was dealing with a breakup) but it also consists of a funky, wild, fun side, which represents her party life at the time. She actually had even more control on this album, than on Britney, working with different producers to find her sound
The record company didn’t even want Toxic as a single but Britney fought for it. At the time in the US hip hop was really the main found so they wanted Boom Boom instead. Just for perspective Yeah by Usher was the huge song out at the time. Something to remember Britney was 22 at the time so she was going out and partying a lot after her breakup with JT so this album definitely aligns with here she was personally. So that being said I feel like you both kind of missed the point of songs like Early Mornin’.
I understand that , we are only hearing the music and don't know everything about her. So our opinions may be missing crucial facts to back them. I totally get it, this just kind of happens when two people end up chatting. Some bit are agreeable and some are not. Some are smart some are dumb because we don't know the context hahah !
fun fact her label gave her an ultimatum which was if she wanted breathe on me and touch of my hand on the album then outrageous needs to be a single. and britney did not like outrageous so it is messed up but those two songs are some of her best so ig it was a win win
Love your reactions but It seems there’s a specific kind of Britney you all like lol she’s a pop artist who has to make all sorts of genres for all sorts of people. I’d say she even probably welcomed songs like Boom Boom and hookup since they gave her a chance to do something different, in her shows as well. Her voice can also do many things and I think that adds so much texture to her music. I happen to think she’s very well rounded, and can appeal to many for different reasons. All these songs were good, just not all for you guys. Brit def has a classy trashy side lol a VERY dirty side too, none of this surprises her fans, it’s part of what makes her a dimensional person and part of what makes her art so layered and unique. You’ll find that the only running thread in her music is Britney Spears. I’ll take it all thank you because even simple songs like Boom Boom and them always have something interesting to them. Compared to a lot of the pop girls out now, she’s still the blueprint.
I feel like Touch Of My Hand and Breathe On Me were quite different for Britney But I love those songs so much !!! But I do kind of get what you are saying. Still don't think I like Boom Boom though hahaha Britney parts are pretty good but yeah . Just not my thing.
Lol Boom boom I hated when it was first out, nowadays the nostalgia gets me I guess. Def makes sense that she did that colab since the Ying Yang twins are Crunk artists (southern hip hop) and she’s a Louisiana girl. They were big back then, but it’s def a cheesy grower if you ever like it at all lol. Anyway, thanks for the reactions! Can’t wait to see Blackout and Circus!
Shame they didn't listen to Don't Hang Up. It should've been on the album proper and I think they would've preferred it to Boom Boom and Shadow. It fits with Breathe on Me and Touch of My Hand as her bedroom trilogy on the album.
1. "the Hook Up" is a masterpiece with a cool transactions and twists! 2. I love "Shadow" mainly because I can related to it and I think it has smart kind of lyrics with all of this perfect metaphors 3. It's really experimental in music wise with all of the instrumentals from the world (asia/africa/america) and it continues more intense on Blackout (electro stuff :D) 4. cool video 5. int fatc: Record label wanted "(I got that) Boom Boom" to be a second single but Britney refused and demanded "Toxic" p.s. still don't get why u hated the hook up :d
I always feel bad when we/I don't like a song !!! but it doesn't mean it's a bad song ! it makes me happy when people enjoy music that I don't because it just shows it's about opinion and not the actual song being bad
Boom boom was supposed to be the albums second single but britney faught for toxic to be the 2nd single. Everytime was a response to justin’s cry me a river.

I don't think Britney tried to fit in with this album back to those years in the music... This was her first album she officially became an adult and she did it with class ;) It was her first album where she took creative control and went against the record label, like "I'll do it my way this time". She was so proud of this album because she took her time in making it. She was involved in creating melodies for the songs and she co wrote 9 out of 12 tracks. She also wrote some bonus tracks that wasn't included in the version you listened to. I remember when I first and second listen to the album I wasn't sure whether I like the album at all, but today it is my favorite albums of hers even tho most fans claims "Blackout" to be the best, which is my second favorite. For 'In The Zone" she brought many different producers including Moby who did 'Early Mornin'", a song Britney wished was released as a single. Britney was against labels decision not to release "Toxic" as a single as they didn't believe the song will be a success and today it's still one of the best songs in music history. I think you two a little to critical on some of the songs you didn't like... maybe you just need to listen to it more for it to grow on you. The album deserves way more recognition than it has. Due to knee injury while shooting a video for 'Outrageous", the tour and further album promotion was canceled.
