Never give up on eggs! If this video isn't a true testament to that statement, I don't know what is! As if it were magical, these eggs went from being deflated to healthy! I could have thrown them out thinking they were toast but thankfully I didn't and by the looks of it, they are alive and well! Thanks so much for watching and don't forget to answer today's question of the day! Hope to see some of my Canadian viewers at the Ontario Reptile Expo on Sunday!
I've bred several species of gecko over the last couple years and decided to give chameleons a go last year. The eggs themselves weren't abnormal at all but it was very nerve wracking going from species that took only a couple months to hatch to one that took nearly a year. There were several times where I questioned if they were ever going to hatch because it had been longer than my research suggested it would be but they never went bad so I just reminded myself to "incubate till there's no debate" and eventually 28 little chameleons emerged!
A terrarium is a enclosure with ground in it a vivarium is a terrarium with living things and a bio active enclosure is a enclosure, sort of like a forest that could be self sustaining.
Didn’t know she was preggers, found some eggs about the same as yours. Ended up misting the egg over a few days and once it was plump I dried it off and sat back into Pangea hatch. So far the egg has been developing and now time will tell. Also I’m new and my first clutches made me so excited that I opened it daily resulting in some small dents. So I learned some self control and only look at them once a week
QOTD: Hi Dayyan, I haven't had any eggs to save. But I watch this awesome YT ch called A Chick Called Albert. He saves bird eggs. But the things he does to save eggs it next to heroic. He helps any living soul. But the egg surgery's are pretty great. That's why I love this episode. It shows how nature takes care of itself. With a little bit of Dayyan help sprinkled right in.
Reptiles always amazes me with their ability to adapt. I know of 3 people on the crested gecko UK Facebook page that were surprised to see baby crested geckos that were pathogenic born that just turned up in their enclosure. One didn’t even know that their crested gecko had laid eggs. Although one person had a deformed little guy hatch bless it.
There are some really tough lessons to learn, and I know that you appreciate and understand that, so thank you for sharing your experience here. Glad the other babies are doing well. The clip at 6:26 of one baby reaching for the other leaf is adorable
I accidentally bred one my smaller females and I thought she layed infertile eggs but she had been with one of my younger males so I incubated them anyways. I didn’t think anything of it but one of them hatched and it was a healthy little baby ❤️
I had a batch of pink bellied swift eggs get some mold on em. Instead of giving up, I rubbed anti-fungal foot powder on the eggs and replaced the medium. 5 happy babies.
just got my first reptile, a lilly white lol i put him in a 18x18x24 lol its filled all the way and i started hand feeding the lil guy to make sure he eats
That baby that didn’t make it wasn’t your fault, people can do crazy things that should cause more damage, but if they’re healthy, they’ll make it, checking on the egg won’t cause it to die predominantly. Our closest expo is Calgary, I’m hoping they’ll start opening up in Vancouver and Kelowna soon!
This reminds me of something which happened to me at my job! I work at a small local reptile shop and we have William’s eye geckos in a display tank. Obviously, we were expecting some breeding to happen, but we got some eggs which looked a little odd because they were a little yellow (they looked like they might’ve been slugs but we weren’t sure) and a bit more oblong compared to the really round (almost spherical) shape that William’s eye eggs normally have. My boss and I didn’t think they were gonna make it, but just in case, we incubated them anyways. After a few weeks, babies were sticking to the sides of the container where we had the eggs! I’m so glad we didn’t get rid of them or else I would’ve never gotten to see how cute the babies are :)
QOTD: its not about reptiles but i used to have 2 ducks and the female laid some eggs in a nest that she made in the corner of our garden and we had no idea about it we even had dogs at the time and they didn't know about the nest either and the female duck would sit in the bush/hidden nest all day without us knowing and they (both male and female ducks) would be put in their shed at night and some how the eggs hatched... i guess she covered them up so they stayed warm or maybe the weather stayed warm at the time but it was a surprise
Congrats on the babies! This will be my first year playing with egg layers (ball pythons) so I have no stories to tell there yet. I'm excited and nervous!
As far as not giving up on a pet, although it is neither an egg story nor my story, Mark from Mark's Tarantulas was sent a tarantula who had lost both fangs in a bad molt, and he was able to feed her until she had molted and could eat on her own again. It's an impressive couple of videos.
It’s my first time owning a Leachie/any reptile I bought he/she is only a month old it’s so tiny I currently have it in a 12x12x18 crested gecko juvenile exo terra. I put a cork round in there with the free center piece it came with I just wanted to ask how do I maintain the right humidity I put hydro balls with a screen over it and then just coco fiber substrate on top, should I take out the hydro balls to make one area soak with water ? And currently food I’m using is Repashy Fig Frenzy any Pangea food you recommend for babys ? Sorry for the questions just new to the reptile community
I had an crestie egg that still had a few days till hatching (never really a set time) but when I put it back in the incubator the sharp corner of the tackle box caught the corner of the egg and made a hole and I got scared and opened it and I put it in an oxygen tank (a container with 2 little holes and airtubing with an air pump) and she just turned 2 weeks!
QOD: During my first time breeding leopard geckos I hadn't been sure whether one of my geckos had actually bred with the male as she had been a lot more shy than my other and didn't have any bite marks. Because of this I didn't check and mist her lay box everyday and thus her first clutch ended up being very dented. Despite this, I set them up in the incubator and both hatched out into beautiful animals!
I wish I would have waited and got one of your cresties 😢 But I adore mine none the less!!! I currently have 3 two males, and one female names are Zuko, Luna and Yue!
Hey so I reccintly got my juvenile crested gecko a new tank and he is acting very crazy, like jumping into the walls and wanting to get to the top of the tank, overall just very crazy and I haven’t seen him act like this Before. Is there anything I can do to stop this?
Hi! RUclips has been my full time job since 2020! I earn most of my income from monetization and sponsorships as well as some of the animals I sell from breeding projects :).
Not a reptile story but amphibian: I kept a trio of Patricia Tincs for a while, and they laid many clutches, but in one of the later clutches, there was a twin egg, a single egg with 2 yolks inside, sadly only 1 of the 2 yolks actually developed a tadpole, while the other went bad, killing the good egg in the process.
Hi! Personally I use reverse osmosis (same as distilled just a different process used to achieve the same result) and then I add supplementation to the food as needed :). Hope that helps!
I might not be the best adviser but I am better than none. Babies = everyday Sub Adult and beyond = every other day or every three days. I think gecko food is inexpensive so I just think it's best to leave food in their enclosure daily and every other day make fresh food. That way if they are hungry they can eat. If you notice your gecko looks overweight then cut down. I hope this helps! 😁
So there was this one time which is actually like a week ago and I was breading my house geckos and they obviously gave me eggs but the eggs were like super beat up and so I incubate them anyway but I have two eggs so one of them was infertile so I took that one out so it wouldn't affect the other egg and they took me about three almost three months for them to hatch and I got twins so that happend
Just hatched my first clutch of cornsnakes, of which I thought only two would hatch. I ended up with 4 and two of those came from eggs that had gone dirt brown with mould and had concaved. The weirdest part is that the babies from those eggs are the biggest two compared to the pearly white fully inflated eggs
I actually have some weird eggs now. They got brown almost immediately after being laid, there are some tiny flies and mold on them. But the weird thing is - they're growing. And they don't go bad. I mean they're kind of already bad but they don't get worse. And I can see something in them. I spray them with hydrogen peroxide to keep mold from growing too much. At this point I'm just super interested to see what happens. I just hope the babies don't come out deformed, I'd rather them just die :( And I have one with a dent on it. I cut the other one because I thought they were slugs :( And there was a vein in it so I'm incubating this one.
Dayyan, I am new to your channel, but I have been wanting to ask someone something and there's not anyone to contact directly and they don't respond to comments. It is directly related to this ^ post. Well, it's about crested geckos, eggs and more. Can you help me out?
I agree, house them in a good sized home if you want. I put my first two in their own 20g enclosures and they both still have their tails and never stressed they are 3 and a half now. I have three that are roughly a year and a half each. PS the 3 yr old has an upright very big enclosure for herself (the other three year old was gifted and is missed). The other three are my subjects of conversation.
So I had an egg that was abnormally big. I incubated it in my basement where it was warmer than the rest of my house (roughly 72 degrees F) Anyway, after about 4 weeks it started leaking. I think it might’ve been from the expanding due to the development. I looked up what to do ab this situation and I found out that you can put a small paper towel piece on the egg and it will act as a scab. I did that but the next day it started leaking out tons of fluid. It seemed like it leaked out about half the fluid. I was very doubtful but I kept incubating it. Eventually the fluid leaking out hardened and sealed the hole. It looked pretty rough but the shell of the egg stayed pearly white somehow and didn’t grow any mold. Yesterday I checked on it and it had hatched. Remember guys, patience is key
I guess my story can be considered a close call. So i breed bearded dragons, most eggs have already hatched, one egg started to sweat (which means its getting ready to hatch). Next day i check the incubator and it hasn't done anything. I worry since it should have hatched. I take it out and candle it, i see no vains , so i decide to make a cut above where the head looked to be,i gently pulled his head out, and it took a breath! I put him back into the incubator, weeks later hes alive and healthy. Im certain he would have drowned if i didnt step in when i did.
I found a garter snake that was hit by a car and it's cuts for blown open some got ran over I cut open the dead garter snake and pulled out all the egg sacs open them up the ones that were active got away there was one that was really small maybe 5 in really lethargic I took them home to see if I can help him I've had him for about a year now and he is only about a foot he eats earthworms molly fish fresh tuna salmon and tilapia but he is kind of derpy
Never give up on eggs! If this video isn't a true testament to that statement, I don't know what is! As if it were magical, these eggs went from being deflated to healthy! The lighter sibling has such a cool head pattern with the darks spots on its cheeks and mouth :) Great video Dayyan! You make some cute gecko babies!!
Indeed! They are so nice! Thanks so much 🙏🏼!
As Emily from Snake 🐍Discovery would say incubate until no debate
Stole my comment!!
Exactly what I was chanting in my head. 😂
She is absolutely correct!
we know its a good advice when im the fourth person that thought about commenting it
That’s what I was gonna say.
I have a question: What is the difference between a terrarium, vivarium, and a bioactive enclosure? I'm still new to reptiles so I'm confused.
A terrarium is a enclosure with ground in it a vivarium is a terrarium with living things and a bio active enclosure is a enclosure, sort of like a forest that could be self sustaining.
@@maeveg.2660 Thanks!
I had several crestie eggs with dents and two leaking eggs this year. Every single egg hatched in the end and produced a beautiful and strong baby.
Im in school rn and i got the notification of this video and i had to watch
thanks for watching but don't miss school haha!
so i just got my first crested gecko today, and im enjoying to take care of it and watch it

All crested geckos are perfect but lily whites are so magical ✨
They are quite lovely!
I accidentally bred one my smaller females and I thought she layed infertile eggs but she had been with one of my younger males so I incubated them anyways. I didn’t think anything of it but one of them hatched and it was a healthy little baby ❤️
I am so excited!!! I just got my first reptile, a gargoyle gecko. Im planning on naming it either talus or chisel
Found you thru the snake discovery buildoff. So glad!!!!
I had a batch of pink bellied swift eggs get some mold on em. Instead of giving up, I rubbed anti-fungal foot powder on the eggs and replaced the medium. 5 happy babies.
Great update video. My husband and I are going to the expo at 9 also. We have met you before.
Yes I remember! Hope to see you again!

I try my best 🙏🏼!

No worries! Love the names you gave yours!
How are you able to handle them so well? Mine is super skiddish and hops off any time I attempt to
On the second clutch which geckos did you breed together
Hello great video update Dayyan
Congratulations I am starting my breeding project next year 😁
Hey so I reccintly got my juvenile crested gecko a new tank and he is acting very crazy, like jumping into the walls and wanting to get to the top of the tank, overall just very crazy and I haven’t seen him act like this Before. Is there anything I can do to stop this?
Dionne (dunno if thats spelled right) do you keep any chahoua geckos?
I really want a crestie, I'm researching throughly first before anything else though x
Sameee
Hi Dayyan! I was wondering what you do as a job? Do you work from home or outside of your home?
I love the scorpion videos the best
kinda random question, but how necessary are plant lights in planted vivariums?
Pretty necessary. Without a full spectrum (uva and uvb) the plants will die off, as it can’t provide itself with energy.
Is it right that i better should not hold crested Geckos into my bedroom? I live in my parents house and i think they'll be kinda noisy at night.
When feeding crested geckos do you use tap water or distilled water. New to reptile keeping.
Hi! Personally I use reverse osmosis (same as distilled just a different process used to achieve the same result) and then I add supplementation to the food as needed :). Hope that helps!
Awesome update
I’m thinking of getting a crested gecko but I’m wondering how often do feed them as babys, dub adults, and adults? Ect.
I might not be the best adviser but I am better than none.
Babies = everyday
Sub Adult and beyond = every other day or every three days.
I think gecko food is inexpensive so I just think it's best to leave food in their enclosure daily and every other day make fresh food. That way if they are hungry they can eat.
If you notice your gecko looks overweight then cut down.
I hope this helps! 😁
SRC reptiles has some good videos on feeding chrestie babies. She is a lot wiser than me!
So there was this one time which is actually like a week ago and I was breading my house geckos and they obviously gave me eggs but the eggs were like super beat up and so I incubate them anyway but I have two eggs so one of them was infertile so I took that one out so it wouldn't affect the other egg and they took me about three almost three months for them to hatch and I got twins so that happend
how much do you have a web site or anything would be interested in one
Havent Hatched any geckos but I came home to a clutch of baby garter snakes
Awesome video
Im sorry for your loss 😔
Ur vid are very cool
Reptilatus: Never, Ever, Ever...Gonna give you up never gonna let you down
Lol
When ppl can get living chicks from supermarket eegs nothing in a eeg is dead before the egg is rotten
Babies are so cute
Best of luck with the eggs.
This was also after 74 days of incubation
Luv the vids and all the geckos❤️❤️❤️
Thanks!
I had to ask would it be bad to breed an adult male with an adult female butt the twist is that the female has head twist?need help !!!!
What about updating about tokay gecko eggs and tiki .?
That’ll be soon!
You are the best love your video
Dion it wasn’t your fault man. You helped that baby because it might been in enormous pain if it hatched itself with out you opening it

3 minutes thirty seconds in, you mention wanting information. Yet, I didn't see your video for three days that's usually too late for most vloggers.
I agree, house them in a good sized home if you want. I put my first two in their own 20g enclosures and they both still have their tails and never stressed they are 3 and a half now. Great videos
Thank you!

How are your green tree monitors doing?
Great! I’ll be doing an update on them soon!
The babies are so so beautifull please don't feel bad for the little one that didn't make it :(
Are you sure that’s not a phantom Lily ?
What's good
I found a garter snake that was hit by a car and it's cuts for blown open some got ran over I cut open the dead garter snake and pulled out all the egg sacs open them up the ones that were active got away there was one that was really small maybe 5 in really lethargic I took them home to see if I can help him I've had him for about a year now and he is only about a foot he eats earthworms molly fish fresh tuna salmon and tilapia but he is kind of derpy
Sorry about the baby you lost, but the others are gorgeous.
My crested gecko eggs hatched in almost 5 months
You’re so punny 😂
