I have just about finished the Stuka now. it is a gorgeous kit with some of the best fit I have ever seen in any scale. There are a couple of small errors in the instructions so I also made a video to show you these errors. I must say, one of my favourite builds of all time!!
Wow, the luchs looks great!!! Cant wait to get my hands on one. And I am surprised why no body has done 1/35 airplane model kits before. Makes so much sense to have the ground AFVs and airplanes in the same scale. For the Ju-87, I would hope they could include the masks for the canopy.
A few tried in the past but it never went anywhere. But those mgiht of been the wrong place and time kind of deal.
The last time i started a kit was in the year 2003 or so. I've never lost interest and i might start again one day. I had a showcase full of airplanes, some of them airbrushed. All my unfinished kits and tools are still somewhere in the house.
I like following channels like this one. Thanks for sharing this stuff.
My Luchs just arrived in the mail today. Really looking forward to getting her built and on the shelf.
A 35th scale Stuka! Would love to have it but I haven't the room, love the kit. Want to see the build video Andy
Nigel from "Nigel's modelling bench" is already doing a build series on this kit, check it out, looks pretty good!!
I bought the Panzer II kit from Andy and am about half way through with build, great kit. Just ordered Andy's 1/6 Sherman 2nd addition can't wait ...Now I am getting ready to buy the stuka 1/35 and Nigel helped me make decision with his review along with this review..
People in Phoenix so lucky to have Andy's Hobbies Headquarters. Sucks having to Ebay/order everthing
Im 6000km away
His shop is 39 miles away from me, well worth the trip!
I love those range finder binoculars, they look like the guys trying to read the instructions on a rocket launcher and how drastically it could all go wrong!
I already have a Asuka Luchs in the stash but will still get this one. That Stuka looks really easy to build. It might be time to try a plane for once.
Omg, that Stuka, with the figure of Rudel!!!
As far as recon vehicles go, I’ve always thought the “Luchs “was sharp looking.
Finally a Luchs!!!!!! And from my fav company.
Good thing they're including swastika 👍🏻
Great job! it is amazing, one bad thing about the metal gun barrels is that, at least for the crusader, they make it impossible to work with the gun breech so you can't use it... Keep up the good work!
Waiting for the Stuka G2 !!
Both kits look very impressive!!
Lots of slide molding that's great Andy wow!!!
Borders is on the rise!
These are nice kits both .
Great video Andy
Thank you
Keep em coming Andy
Great content as always Andy!!
The Ju87 looks awesome
Looks great so enjoy your videos please keep them coming and here to help get your videos out to everyone
you-n-care is phonetically how you'd pronounce the Junker planes, the model was called Kannonfogel and was the idea of Hans Ulrich Rudel. His method of attack was to ricochet the rounds off of the ground into the bottom of the tank as it was the thinnest armor of the tank. He was awarded the equivalent of five MOH and while they made five Knights Cross to the Iron cross with oak leaves, crossed swords, and rubies, his was the only one awarded. The rest of those medals were captured by the Russians and taken to Moscow. He is credited the battleship Murat and a Russian cruiser as well. He destroyed over 500 Russian tanks and shot down fifty credited kills. Toward the end of the war, he received a wound, which caused his leg to be amputated below the knee. He was flying an FW 190 at the end of the war with his foot taped to the rudder pedal. He flew over 2500 combat missions. After the war, the Russians would say they could tell when Rudel was in the area by the number of burning tanks.
Diamonds in gold. Knights cross, oak leaves, crossed swords, and diamonds. 4 Knights crosses add it in gold equals 5.
Great to see another post Andy, and your continued success with more model companies! Hope to see some of your builds again soon
I would really like to watch you paint those canopy frames!
Its easy, vertical frames are inside, horizontal frames on the outside. You just need strips of masking tape.
I’m actually building a 1/32 Ju-87D Stuka from Trumpeter. So far this 1/35 Stuka is looking nice.
Two fantastic looking models from border will definitely be getting these nice and Very informative nice one Andy Steve
Outstanding video and presentation.
Can't wait to get that stuka kit
Great vid Andy, looking at the Pz 2 Luchs you might want to contact Border model, one of the torchon bars looked like a section was missing
Both look great! I’m building the Border BF109 at the moment, which is a lot of fun! I think the Stuka will be on the list as well! I’m still hoping that you and Border can deliver on my preorder on the 1/32 Lancaster!
… and that Stuka box art is off the page!!
Nice kits!!! 👍👍👍
A 35th scale Stuka?! *SWEET*
Finally bought the Stuka kit, and while to the casual non-technical modeller it IS indeed a joy..I don't think I've built an aircraft that had such brilliant fit and sharp precise parts.. it is very nice and goes together very trouble free..accuracy tho?? Mmmm.. not so much. I was very disappointed on how many missed opportunities the designer fell into, and how many glaring inaccuracies there are in this kit. I'm changing my plan and just building it OOB, as bringing it up to accurate would be insanely time consuming and involve making too many parts from scratch. It'll look great fully painted in my glass case tho.. I have higher hopes for the FW190, but now I'm wondering just how accurate that model will be.. because if it has the same level of mistakes as the Ju87, it will end my purchasing of Border aircraft kits.
It is a shame that Border appear to have missed the fact that the air intakes on each side of the engine deck are slightly different lengths. The Tasca kit got it right and there is a Luchs at Saumur which they possibly use for reference.
Two nice looking kits. One thing though Andy, you can't do a working suspension with link and length tracks.
Hi Andy great kits and videos keep the video coming thank you
Hello Andy I am just requesting you build and paint Russian or Soviet armored train. There are many different kits of these around and they look fascinating ! I can't make one myself yet because I have a hospital bill and a stack of other models to complete ! Consider them maybe a good video , or not Thanks .
Great video, Andy! 👍🏻 But yet again Border have not included any colour call-outs for all the internal cockpit, engine, etc in the Stuka? Not good.
Hey Andy, have you ever heard of Classy Hobby kits? They made a 1/16 scale PKW II Luchs. Great kit from just looking at the parts.
He has a video on building their M5A1 Stuart, so I would say he has most likely heard of Classy Hobby.
I know you don't usually do aircraft but please make an exception for the Stuka!
Andy, Can you please include pricing information (as is known) as part of your kit description material/process?
I love the luchs I have a few older kits of it the detail is quite poor this new one looks awesome would like to find a 1/16th scale of it to build
Looks like one of the Luchs' torsion bars is a failed mould, missing bit in the middle.
I take "delivery dates" with a grain of salt. I'm still waiting for Tamiya's M-18 Hellcat. It would be better if they sent them over in hot air balloons, they'd probably get here faster.
Not many decals in regard to stencils (warning labels/maintenance instructions). But otherwise it seems to be a great kit. I think I'll buy it next month. Thanks for the review.
I'm just getting into military kits and I want this one so bad, its my favorite tank of all time. Your shop already is out of stock, can I expect a restock on it? I don't really want to go to ebay re-sellers and I have no idea if local shops are going to get it.
Great looking kits
Would like to see the completed models side-by side!
That Stuka is gorgeous, but a little out of my price and skill range! Definitely one to dream about though.
Much as I'd love the Ju 87G, I'll give Border a little time on their aircraft models to get things sorted out. Reminds me of my MENG 1/48 Me 410 experience. When paying that kind of money for a model, call me spoiled by Dragon armour and Eduard aircraft, although I can live with the just either or scheme and scant decals, and even no PE nor masks supplied, but I don't expect to have to then buy aftermarket parts to fix problems supplied or moulded basic kit supplied in the box this day and age of CAD, blueprints, CNC and slide moulding. e.g. propeller blades & spinner shapes, oil coolers on the nacelles. Back toe Border, their recent 1/35 Bf 109G-6 was on the receiving end of criticism, justified AFAIC given the model's target demographic and price point, so I'm hesitant/cautious re their Stuka. For the kind of money asked in my country, it'd have to be Wingnut Wings detail and extras quality and flawless in terms of accuracy.
🤝. Pz.2L super.👌👍
Are the tracks on the Luchs standard panzer 2 or are they another type if so would the aftermarket metal track links be compatible?
Both kits look really cool. But with the Luchs, since it has link and length tracks, what's the point of it having workable suspension? Unless Border are going to come out with a set of workable tracks for it further down the line. Although, after a little bit of looking, it seems Trumpeter makes some workable tracks for the Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.J (VK16.01), but I'm not sure if those are accurate for the Ausf. L.
Why does one need or want workable tracks on a model?
@@tonyromano6220 I personally like workable tracks on certain vehicles like Tigers and others with interleaved road wheels and track sag. Workable tracks make it easier to install the tracks after they're painted by running them around the wheels and sprockets and pinning them together in place.
That said, I also like link and length tracks, but find it odd that Border would go through the trouble to make working suspension on a kit where the bottom run off tracks are always going to be dead flat.
@@tonyromano6220 If you do bases and recreate uneven ground, it helps to be able to pose the vehicle accurately.
Imagine if Border suddenly decided to switch their armor to 1/32 while keeping their planes in 1/35?
very nice Kits
(inverted) Gullwings...
I want that 88 gun with crew!
Andy is clearly the kid in the candy store (hard work aside). Do you stock Meng products?
Does the 88 come with winter crew? 😊
Have you tried to build a USS Arizona model
I’ll take one of each please Andy
nice kits
Hey, Andy, love your videos and your store. Just one question. In this video you say the Stuka is available for pre-order, but your website for the past several days lists it as "Sold Out" and doesn't allow a pre order. Can it still be pre ordered? Thanks.
Just got the email notification that my Stuka has been shipped! Thanks, Andy!
That Stuka looks monstrous, but also suffering from the similar issues like their Messerschmidt released before. For this price and in this scale the lack of almost all stencils is unacceptable as well as missing masks for the cockpit. For price that is around 100 USD they could definitely provide these. Also it would be nice to know if Stuka suffers from the same decal transparency problem as Bf-109, because that makes them pretty much unusable and forces buyers to search for other decaling options.
Where did you get that high price from? Paid 60 USD for it. But I agree, the lack of cockpit masks in a new production model is bad.
@@Exel0n84 These Stukas are still not available here, the only local shop that advertise them is Modelbau Koenig, which has them already on preorder (expected delivery March) for 79 EUR, which I had just from head converted to "around 100 USD", the correct number is 91 USD. Less than hundred, but definitely way more than 60 USD you paid.
Missing masks sucks, but I am more concerned about that missing stencils (there should be a ton of them for kit in this size), because I can mask especially such huge canopy on my own (not super very happy with it, but can be done), but there is no easy way how to deal with the lack of stencils.
The decals are gorgeous. they cover and go down like cartograph.
@@NigelsModellingBench Nice to hear, because seeing those build videos of the Messerschmidt with camo colors being clearly seen under semitransparent decals was rather disheartening as such problem is very difficult to fix. Good they learned the lesson, I guess we all learn the best from our own mistakes.
Aircraft in 1/35 scale? Don't aircrafts come in 128, 1/32, 1/48, 1/72, 1/144 scales?
Hi
Hi Andi, again nice informative video on great models. Well done!
One question: selling swastikas to / in Germany is absolutely forbidden by german law. How do make sure no swastika arrives in Germany?
I'm sure MBK will cut them out of the sheet or paint over the evil symbols as usual.
I suppose you could move to a free country. You get what you want instead of living in socialist hell hole digused as a democracy.
Andy is going to make me bankrupt....lol
New kit from amusing hobby tiger (p) 003 full interior and Facebook
Does anyone remeber what ww2 book the boxart for the stuka is from?
Ballentine's?
@Dan Meehan it was a book I saw decades ago it had all the famous battles done in pained format, I wad wrong on the boards box art. The one I'm thinking of had the stuka diving on a t34 firing on it. But the box art has a pnz4 in it and the book didn't
Oh man a Stuka in 1/35th…..
pronaunce as Stuka not (SZ)tuka
Hi Andy, just a quick heads-up, one pronounces the German "Luchs" about the same as you would say "Looks" in English...
Building the Luchs now such a poor fitting kit instructions are poor tracks are done in link n length but backwards list goes on so be prepared! Oh and doube check the hatches there the knock out pin marks are on the outside but it's the first Bordor model's kit I've ever had issues with it's an odd kit I'll say that they have down scaled classy hobbies 1.16 kit when I was building it i was saying to myself I've built this before the parts are done exactly the same way just with some minor missing parts like gun sight I jad to source from tamiya panzer 2 and few other bits n bobs don't follow the instructions build it from real references or you'll muck it up!
Yes totally agree but much better if 1:35 had been 1:32 for armour from the beginning.
Panel lines on the Stuka are way over scale, worse even than airfix new mould. Sigh.
