virtually every guitar video is about note selection, fret board geography, mode coloration, dominant chords, yada yada, on and on. Lets talk about the stuff we know how to talk about and the stuff we don't know how to talk about we pretend it doesn't exist. Hagstrom forever BABY!!!

Just give the drummer a copy of the Bass part. There shouldn't be an issue, unless they can't read. Another reason why ALL musicians should learn how to read.

Have you ever actually tried that?

Yes. I am a drummer and often when there are little resources such as a written out drum chart or even a lead sheet, I request the bass player's part.
This way, I am able to see his phrasing and I consequently tailor the groove I will use in order make it sound good.

For some drummers I know, this would work out great. But for the drummer mentioned in the video, this would not have worked. So - it really depends on the drummer! :)

Please keep encouraging drummers (and other musicians) to learn how to read. Even a basic knowledge goes a long way. My students are always hesitant when we first begin reading basic material. Years later, they thank me for always dedicating parts of our lessons to reading and interpretation.
