Pippen dominated this game from start to finish. this was his best year by far and this was with jordan still retired. it's a shame no one gives pippen no credit for how he played in 1993-1994 and the first 65 games without jordan and that's sad.
I thought 1995-1996 would've been his best season if he didn't get hurt in February. He was never the same player after that injury. I mean, he was still very good in 1997, but not quite as dominating. In December of 1995, he averaged 25.5 ppg playing alongside Jordan and shot nearly 55% from the field and nearly 49% from three. After getting the foot injury in February, his numbers badly declined, so his season totals didn't look that good, but those first three and a half months were ridiculous.
@@mrmacross It was more than just a foot injury. He was dealing with multiple injuries, but wouldn't sit out as they were going for the record. 8:28 That is a monster Stat line when you factor in the game/momentum change with Scottie switching over to Barkley. Reminds me of the first championship, game 5 vs Lakers. Check Pippen's stats and factor in the fact he did the same thing to Magic that he did to Barkley.
It's ok. Even I had to come here to remind myself of his ability to score as well. Just show them this video. My favorite players are versatile players.
Being from Chicago, I remember reading the papers talking about how intense Jordan and Pippen would go at each other in practice. If we could only see some videos of those practice sessions.
Starting to miss him, he is special. How i would love to see him guard LBJ, people will say pippen will not be able to guard him because LBJ is too strong and powerful, but i think many people do forget pippen always loves to draw charges from offensive players, you also need high basketball IQ to know how to defend people who are bigger and stronger
***** in reality people smack the shit out of his arms and head and he still slams the ball down a good bit of the time. Running a player over just because you are better, faster, stronger isn't a charge unless the defender was actually defending properly according to the rules. Either play proper defense, get the fuck out of the way, or be in a position to take the charge...dont just shuffle around and jump up and mug the guy. What they should do is get 3 guys to hold hands, not move, and stand around his takeoff zone and not move. Then they can get more charge calls...but then he's just going to kick it out. He gets away with some charges but he gets neglected out of plenty of fouls and and1s.
Truly is Mr.Everything.That stat line is stacked from every important part of the game. But getting most of your steals on a player of Sir Charles level is amazing!
@mefaltandospauntrio I think Chuck Daly gained a lot of respect for Pippen when he coached him on the Dream team. In fact Daly said Pippen was the 2nd best player on that team and called him the ultimate fill-in-the-blanks guy. Very high praise on a team full of HOFs.
Scottie Pippen created the foundation upon which Jordan could be so great. I'm glad people are realizing that in this era. In the 90s, as I remember it, people couldn't see it. Pippen was not a sidekick or a second banana, he was a leader, a play-maker, a facilitator and a champion.
@motly93 Jordan was off playing Baseball during this season. In a way this was a blessing in disguise for Pippen because people could see how good a player he truly could be leading this Bulls team
The key to Pippen's post defense is he typically avoids body on body contact. He does that so the offensive player cannot seal him away from the ball. He will make 2 diagonal movements basically going around the post player during the entry pass in order to intercept or disrupt the pass. His sense of anticipation combined with desire and physical attributes made him the best defensive small forward of all time, in my opinion. He was definitely the most feared perimeter defender in the 90's and of all time. As great as Leonard is today, we don't see as much posting up so we can't really answer is Leonard would've been as great of a post defender as Pippen. In terms of perimeter defense, Leonard is possibly neck to neck with Pippen.
the BEST ALL AROUND PLAYER to ever play the game.....Never got his respect but his game does speak loudly in the room with the greatest of all-time....
closest thing today is Kawhi leondard.. i'd say he is a 70% completed pippen. just needs to learn those cool post moves and be more agressive in steals and he's gonna bloom.
I wish these playoff series' would be remastered in HD and released on blu-ray so people from this generation can see what a beast Charles Barkley was in his prime.
Yamasaki Honda defensively yes, but they were also allowed more body contact. offensively though, i think it has stepped up a lot. more ball movement, better 3pt shooting, more variety. old-classic post-ups are sadly gone though.
Anthony Mason not a chance. look at the league today stop letting these rules fool you. In the league we have people that was doing was 90s players were doing but the 90s dont have players like the 2000's ex curry bron westbrook etc
And Hall of Fame coach Chuck Daly, not just this RUclips uploader, cited Pippen's defense as the turning point. Finally, I've viewed most of the 1993 NBA Finals within the last three and a half years or so and I hardly ever recall Pippen guarding Barkley. Sir Charles' defender was usually Horace Grant or Scott Williams and they'd either defend Barkley one-on-one or the Bulls would send a help defender.
go pip.... he was my favourite player of that decade.... i know we all wanna be like mike but pip made the other half.... and a quailty guy as well.... humble and a good sportsman.
Pippen in early to late 90s was a top 10 player in the league. To me he is also a top 10 small forward of all time maybe top 5 of all time small Forward
@@mrzprettyfeet i agree with that, Michael was something unique. I would say otherworldly. But there is no denying that in a good day, Pippen could be every bit as good and unstopable as Michael. When it happened at the same time (a good offensive and defensive game by both of them), it was sight to behold. The only thing comparable nowadays in devastation and demoralization inflicted to the opponent i can think off is a hot curry-thompson combo.
This is why Barkley later said, "I would have won a bunch of rings too if I played with Pippen!" People forget that MJ not only never won rings without Pippen...but never had a winning season without Pippen....not one.
The problem is 1 person can't win a ring, idc how good you are. Everyone needs players that are good around them, and Pippen and Mj just so happened to compliment eachother PERFECTLY. Another reason people think their 6 rings are so unbearably impressive is because they never really had a dominating center, which is a key to winning.
Deron Prophet It helps if you were dominant in the 90s. They didn't have to deal with Kareem or Parrish. The Bulls were being owned by the Rockets in the early 90s but never had to face them in the Finals. They went 1-1 against Shaq teams in the playoffs. If Grant were not hurt in the 2nd meeting that may have turned out differently. And of course the Bulls missed dealing with Duncan by one year too. Perfect timing.
HarpoSpoke Yes but this shouldn't take away is all I'm saying, Mike can only do much, just as anyone else as can. Point is still a great run, and still an unmatchable performance by Mike. Because the same can be said for people like Bill Russel and Wilt.
HarpoSpoke what can you tell me about the trios Payton-Kemp-Schrempf and Malone-Stockton-Hornacek, who the Bulls beated in the finals, a bunch of idiot you might say?
The League, Stern, was desperate to make another brand rather than Chicago. If Pippen got half of the 'protection' &' help' Jordan got, he could easily have averaged triple-double over 2 seasons between 93-95. Magic said in 1991 that Jordan was 'untouchable', which explained.
After Horace Grant signed with Orlando Pippen pretty much had to do it all for that team. Jerry Krause didn't give him much to work with. I really like how Pippen plays the post player by dancing around him to make it difficult for the entry pass at 4:24. Most guys just stand there and allow the entry pass to come in. The footwork, the long arms, the athleticism was a lethal combination on the defensive end.
should have been MVP ...i always enjoy to see isaiah thomas ,Ewing and charles Barkley hate on him today because i remember how he used to expose them during games
Not disrespect to MJ as a player, but he would never bring 40 wins with the same team minus pippen, given the way he played. There are two different players, one is flashy marketing tool, another is true set - nothing wrong with either, but I prefer the latter if I decide to watch team sports.
Konphetty you clearly have never saw what david robinson did on that entire season and previous and later when he got #2 voting (behind MJ) also for mvp. Pippen was great but for mvp discussion in no way he deserved better than Robinson.
You clearly don't know what 'MVP' means. While Robinson was obviously the best player in the league that year. He wasn't as valuable as Pippen. Without Pippen that bulls team would be nothing. MVP most valuable player learn your acronym.
B. Entringer 93 title season with MJ, 57 wins. Next season w/o MJ, 55 wins. Pip led the team in every major category & dominated in the all-star game. By far the MVP in the 93-94 season.
Sir Charles on his prime would made rounds around Pippen... Only MJ was better than Sir Charles and that's why he lost in 1993. Charles deserved at least one NBA ring on his hand, best Power Forward on his (the best) era.
But was Pippen one of the ten best players ever at creating a major impact on both offense and defense? I'd probably concur, adding his name to the likes of Jordan, Garnett, Olajuwon, Duncan, McHale, Abdul-Jabbar, and David Robinson. But the question of the ten best overall players is arguably different and there can be great all-around players, such as Bird and Magic, who weren't great (or even good, or even average) individual defenders.
notice and read carefully.Sir charles hasnt scored in almost 2qrts since pippen guard him.that is really amazing for a high calibur player like barkley.and i tip my hat to scottie "mr.everything" pippen.
In one game that season, Perry posted 35 points (13-22 FG, 1-2 on threes, 8-9 FT), 13 assists, and 6 steals while matched against Jason Kidd, no less. Later that season, Perry again scored 35 points (14-22 FG, 2-3 on threes, 5-6 FT), this time in a road game versus the two-time defending NBA champion Houston Rockets and with 11 assists, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and just 3 turnovers in 48 minutes.
Perry passed for 17 assists in a game (where Barkley did not play) in February 1994 and the next season, he finished as the runner-up in NBA Most Improved Player balloting and then received a six-year, $12M free agent contract from the Suns (significant for the time) to keep him away from Washington.

Reminds me of the first championship, game 5 vs Lakers. Check Pippen's stats and factor in the fact he did the same thing to Magic that he did to Barkley.
funny people really only thought pippen was a side kick lol
Someone said "People thought it was Batman and Robin, when in fact the Bulls had another Batman"
Pippen was a sidekick, but the main guy always needs a sidekick.
Without a doubt, Pippen was always the second best player on the Bulls in the 90s. Jordan was a better scorer, but Pippen was a better defender.
It's ok. Even I had to come here to remind myself of his ability to score as well. Just show them this video. My favorite players are versatile players.
#Facts 💯
This is one of the best performances in NBA history one of the greatest all around players especially defensively
Before Le'bron James there was Scottie Pippen. I'd take Pippen all day. Best defender all day long.
Barkley was one of the best ever.
I never see someone def. better Barkley then Pippen , and Barkley was one of the best players at this time
Pippen was putting up sick numbers that year best all around player
Being from Chicago, I remember reading the papers talking about how intense Jordan and Pippen would go at each other in practice. If we could only see some videos of those practice sessions.
35 points 9 rebs 6 assists offense.5 steals 2 blocks defense.I wish a nigga would say pippen aint versatile.love this video.
Beautiful. Great, great player. #33. Right hand, left hand, drive, dribble, jam, pass, shoot long distance, play INCREDIBLE D. Unbelievable.
He averaged 30 points against a star studded Phoenix team and Barkley.
? I thought Jordan’s avg 41 and pip 21. Not sure where you are getting 30 from.
Pippen is the captain ball on Chicago bulls team since their 1st championship until the last championship...HE'S the heart and soul of the Bulls team
Pippen the truth
Starting to miss him, he is special. How i would love to see him guard LBJ, people will say pippen will not be able to guard him because LBJ is too strong and powerful, but i think many people do forget pippen always loves to draw charges from offensive players, you also need high basketball IQ to know how to defend people who are bigger and stronger
+Prince Cyrill: Warriors fan since 2015! scottie has the charge card dog.
+Prince Cyrill: Warriors fan since 2015 that's true because the refs today are pussies
I love to watch Pip played defense, really excited!!!...
Watching this made me realize another way to defend people in the post who are stronger than me. Thank you pip.
i'm a HUGE scottie fan but i don't remember this game for some reason. thanks for the upload!!
make up homework man
@mefaltandospauntrio I think Chuck Daly gained a lot of respect for Pippen when he coached him on the Dream team.
What sort of reviosnism is this ?
@motly93 Jordan was off playing Baseball during this season. In a way this was a blessing in disguise for Pippen because people could see how good a player he truly could be leading this Bulls team
Both players were great and Pippen just on fire on that night.
this is beautiful ball
Such BS that he wasn't MVP that yr!!
david robinson
Hakeem Olajuwon
titanhovey David Robinson is vastly overrated
fitofito1001 he's still better than Pippen
When MJ was retired, he proves everyone he could do anything on the court even scoring over 30!😎
The best all around player we ever saw.
In terms of perimeter defense, Leonard is possibly neck to neck with Pippen.
scottie was so smooth on offense and tough on D
some nuts said Scottie aint Top 50...check this vod
the BEST ALL AROUND PLAYER to ever play the game.....Never got his respect but his game does speak loudly in the room with the greatest of all-time....
closest thing today is Kawhi leondard.. i'd say he is a 70% completed pippen. just needs to learn those cool post moves and be more agressive in steals and he's gonna bloom.
💯💯💯👍
Nba2k16 Park highlights lol. cmon give the kid a chance.
i agree jjays. kawhi is about 70% of pip, iggy is about 50% of pip and they both out played lbj in back to back finals....
+dlawson688 never did they outplay LeBron go look at LeBrons numbers they were better then iggys and kawahi
@@lavarriley4746 2014 was stat-padding and 2015 LeBron outplayed Iggy but forced shots up because he had to carry the team.
90s nba....the best era ever...not only for nba....for everything....music movies people....
Knew he was gud, but never seen him played until today.. this guy is beast.. missed only three shots of 17
Piases me off with how little credit & respect he gets
Only 1 other player to ever get 2 3 peats other than jordan. The anchor ⚓ man
1994 & 1995 were his best seasons
I wish these playoff series' would be remastered in HD and released on blu-ray so people from this generation can see what a beast Charles Barkley was in his prime.
Aside from the crossover dribble, the players back in the 90s were more skilled than the present players.PERIOD!
not even close the 90s players are better defensively but not offensively
Yamasaki Honda defensively yes, but they were also allowed more body contact. offensively though, i think it has stepped up a lot. more ball movement, better 3pt shooting, more variety. old-classic post-ups are sadly gone though.
ROKINROD23
nope offensively as well. sorry
nobodytouchesjordan.blogspot.com/2014/09/section-1-players-from-jordans-day.html
Anthony Mason
not a chance. look at the league today stop letting these rules fool you. In the league we have people that was doing was 90s players were doing but the 90s dont have players like the 2000's ex curry bron westbrook etc
That's actually false imo. There's way more iso's now and unnecessary dribbling. Scoring is down from years past too
And Hall of Fame coach Chuck Daly, not just this RUclips uploader, cited Pippen's defense as the turning point.
This is the scary prime Pippen.
go pip.... he was my favourite player of that decade....
i know we all wanna be like mike but pip made the other half.... and a quailty guy as well.... humble and a good sportsman.
I knew Sir Charles was a great player but man his pump fakes he put on defenders were nice.
Bulls were actually built for any era. To me they are the most versatile team of all time.
Dis dude could loock mj down at 5-7 5-8 giant wingspand. Hoops and such defensive awereness. Mj is lucky they drafted him
they Traded for Pippen on draft night look it up! Tru.Pip.Fan
Pippen in early to late 90s was a top 10 player in the league. To me he is also a top 10 small forward of all time maybe top 5 of all time small Forward
he has everything from offense to defence
Oh my the memories. He's one of my favorite Bulls
Pippen ULTIMATE ALL AROUND PLAYER EVER!!!!!!
Scottie is as awesome as Michael!!!
amen very unappreciated
Rocio Guerrero more awesome.
Michael averaged Pippen's best highlight reel. Don't be fooled by the hype.
I can't imagine Pippen vs LeFlop today!
This is why Barkley later said, "I would have won a bunch of rings too if I played with Pippen!"
People forget that MJ not only never won rings without Pippen...but never had a winning season without Pippen....not one.
Deron Prophet
It helps if you were dominant in the 90s.
HarpoSpoke
Yes but this shouldn't take away is all I'm saying, Mike can only do much, just as anyone else as can. Point is still a great run, and still an unmatchable performance by Mike. Because the same can be said for people like Bill Russel and Wilt.
HarpoSpoke you are one idiotic moron
HarpoSpoke what can you tell me about the trios Payton-Kemp-Schrempf and Malone-Stockton-Hornacek, who the Bulls beated in the finals, a bunch of idiot you might say?
The League, Stern, was desperate to make another brand rather than Chicago. If Pippen got half of the 'protection' &' help' Jordan got, he could easily have averaged triple-double over 2 seasons between 93-95. Magic said in 1991 that Jordan was 'untouchable', which explained.
Pippen's defense is so spectacular...
i like hte way how pippen continue to play for the bulls without micheal and try to carry the team to the playoffs.
Another great upload! Thanks! I had this game on VHS and still remembered it well. Kukoc played well for the Bulls. That drive and dunk was nasty!
Some people said he was only a defender he had all round game , the best to play that smAll forward position !
In this era Pippen on his own team he would still be best defender in nva and would avg 25 ppg 9rebounds, 6assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks. Guaranteed
should have been MVP ...i always enjoy to see isaiah thomas ,Ewing and charles Barkley hate on him today because i remember how he used to expose them during games
whatudoin1 what has ewing said about him ?
lol Pippen be like...I'm done with this bullshit...I'll defend him my self.
Pippen should've won the MVP in 1995. No way The Bulls would've won 50 games without pippen. Probably wouldn't have made it to the playoffs
Not saying Robinson shouldn't be in the conversation but Pippen deserved it more.
B. Entringer 93 title season with MJ, 57 wins. Next season w/o MJ, 55 wins. Pip led the team in every major category & dominated in the all-star game. By far the MVP in the 93-94 season.
he is a natural starplayer making his own name in nba..even without mj..
One of PIP’s greatest games 🔥
Was there anyone equally as good both ways on the court as Pippen? Shit is crazy
Sir Charles on his prime would made rounds around Pippen... Only MJ was better than Sir Charles and that's why he lost in 1993. Charles deserved at least one NBA ring on his hand, best Power Forward on his (the best) era.
Do you realize how dam good Scottie Pippen was???? He toyed with Barkley in this game.
But then again Pippen was carried lmaoo this guy was a beast
Ohh chuck and Vern , it don’t get much better than this. RIP BOTH
@McFlyYouSlacker excellent point....Pippen can always say, he helped the bulls win all six titles
Barkley was giving Simpkins all kinds of buckets.
Lawd have mercy.
Pippen was that dude when he was playing.
Perry passed for 17 assists in a game (where Barkley did not play) in February 1994 and the next season, he finished as the runner-up in NBA Most Improved Player balloting and then received a six-year, $12M free agent contract from the Suns (significant for the time) to keep him away from Washington.
