Personally I like drank more in pve because you basically get a bottomless sniper with strum plus it has wellspring and is still great for ad clear

personally i feel like air assaults a good pick with the ae buff i can get the mini to 58 max of 61 stats witch is the highest in the game from what i have found with air assaults just makes it better from there
Always hated this gun in PvP. But since now it's craftable I crafted my PvP roll and like it a bit more. Still not my fav.
I'm bad at PvP, so I never really thought to put effort in crafting a seperate one of these for PvP, but this video makes me consider it. I did craft and Austringer with PvP in mind, and your gameplay shows you playing this with one - so this might merit a second craft. Though my aim is always a concern so focusing on traits that could help improve that or be more reliable so that I can improve that is always nice.
On the Opulent weapons front goes - this is solar jamburee for me. Drang became my Ability Regeneration king with Wellspring Incandecent and Mida spreads scorch quickly, and is my legendary backup when I'm not feeling Sunshot.
But to be honest, Beloved falls off for me. Not because it's a bad gun, it's just a sniper and the feel of those with my hands and wrist basically slows me down too much to make snipers worth it for me. It takes time to narrow in on a target, and if I'm going for that I need a weapon that can lay on the fire and last, and snipers are more for quick bursts unless very specifically built for large mags and reload perks, which takes away from potential damage perks.
Still, I love crafting in this game. It revitalized it for me. I have clear goals in each season to unlock and craft up choice weapons from each game. It's almost to the point where I stop being a soloist and start looking for a reliable group to do things like dungeons and raids for the recipies. It's that good. I've had more fun this season than any other, and that says a lot to what bungie has done for the casual player.
So, enhanced incandescent is one of those weird perks where it makes a *huge* difference depending on your build. Normal incandescent splash takes three enemies down to cause the ignition. However, if you run enhanced incandescent with ember of ashes drops it to two. Combine that with ember of char - kill two enemies in the group *and all of them explode*. I already have 10k pve kill with mine.

It also really helps against bigger targets too. If you get a single ember of char + enhanced incandescent kill near a big target, the scorch stacks are high enough to ignite the target with a single volley of knife trick. I use this to chain ignitions on big targets all the time.

One quick note about threat detector while using Gunslinger, you can use it's indicator to know when a guardian around a corner is within range to use gambler's dodge to replenish your melee (Knife Trap opportunity).
Cammy has been preaching Threat Detector since like Y1 of D2. It's been buffed multiple times and is one of the very few perks that can activate while the weapon is stowed.
At this point its one of those "if you know, you know"
I honestly never knew that. I will keep this in mind in the future.

BIG BRAIN- Also, I've been a huge backer for TD in both PVE/PVP, due to its ability to determine if enemies are close by enough for CQC, and the reload speed & the rest of its perk is super beneficial.
Just gotta say, that double bunny hop over the very confused dude in the beginning was hilarious
I’d like to add something to this with an unrelenting incandescent enhanced roll handling with chambered or extended is sixty so enhancing one of the two while improving recoil is just as good and if you need 100 using a counterbalance stock mod is a great option as minor and major specs in pve while great options aren’t as useful on smgs as they don’t one shot to the head with or without so it doesn’t save much ammo with that extra damage
I personally crafted this with Enhanced Threat Detector and Incandescent so it can put in work in PvE and PvP. If I go back and craft a dedicated PvP roll, I'll definitely take Tap the Trigger

This has been my favorite weapon since it dropped. I spent the entire first two weeks doing leviathan containments nonstop until I got my 5 red borders and this thing slays pve. Enhanced incandescent & threat detector on it synergies so well. I just hit lvl 100 on mine (also the trials memento looks insanely amazing on the weapon despite the weird texture on the base model)
I would highly recommend moving target + tap the trigger. Similarly to threat detector, constant perk benefit (unlike slideways for instance), but I feel MT is more consistent for me. Perks like threat detector and surplus change in the benefits granted at any given time, and overall weapon feel, and consistency of that feel, is more valuable in my opinion.
While I understand your point on surplus, I have to heavily disagree with Treat Detector. There really isn't a time you would be firing mini tool at any range that wouldn't have threat detector active. I would agree if we were talking about a scout rifle or even an auto rifle since they work well at deeper ranges but Mini tool is an SMG you are only using it in close quarters so whenever you are fighting with it, threat detector will always be active regardless if its pvp or pve.
Leveling up this smg I went with moving target tap the trigger feels good in pvp but after using it a bunch last week I’ll stick to mostly pve with this gun it struggles in pvp but a mida multi scout paired with this smg could be fun in pvp
I agree, unless for certain circumstances.
1. Shotguns. You don't need the increased handling if they aren't in your face, but when you really need it, it's there.
2. Surplus for weapons that already have high handling. When you only need 1 or 2 abilities for it to feel nice. Sorry for the FOMO, but my astral for example. Surplus, elemental capacitor. Around 90 handling (rifled barrel and quick charge) but 100 with surplus. Not too insane but it makes up for rifled barrel.
3. Stasis hunter. If you want to abuse surplus, just unbind the shuriken melee. Always have 2; they are more useful for a guaranteed 25 handling than an RNG "will it bounce in the right direction" moment. Then, if you have a duskfield (7 discipline is 35 seconds) it's 50 handling and same with a dodge. There are ways to make it better, more specifically turn a perk from "play normally to receive some mild benefits" into "abuse a constant high handling and stability" by slightly adjusting the way you play.
@@supersizesenpai It still comes down to either you want a passive or conditional perk to proc or just rely on the active perk for dueling or engaging. Threat detector is more pve and 6v6 pvp.
I don't know much about PVP rolls. But for PVE - Corkscrew Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Grave Robber or Threat Detector, Enhanced Incandescent is S tier. Anything other than that, it's a waste.
First craftable weapon that I actually sought after and leveled up for my unrelenting incandescent roll. Gets rid of my biggest problem with funnelweb last season since you had to proc volatile rounds. Absolutely in love with this weapon.
I'm a huge fan Tap the Trigger on SMGs. Your comment about providing huge stat boosts to stability, accuracy, and recoil for nearly the entire TTK was spot on. Tap the Trigger also reactivates very quickly if you need to change targets, or pause between shots against a peek-shooting precision weapon. Oh, and Calus Mini Tool is the *ONLY* lightweight SMG it can currently roll on.
Luckily, I also kept TtT on a bunch of sunset SMGs. I have TtT + kill clip on 3 sunset weapons I absolutely love - Pillager (lightweight, but only 13 zoom), Trackless Waste (adaptive), and Bad Reputation (precision - step aside, Shayura). Check your vaults for Trackless Waste, Bad Reputation, and Hard Truths if you kept any, as they can all roll with tap the trigger, plus scopes which can give you up to *15-17* zoom. I'm currently chasing the illusive Rangefinder + TtT roll on a Borrowed Time for trials.
@Coolguy, I know you like to get your own rolls, but hmu if you ever want to try any of those sunset rolls out sometime.
Another amazing sunset SMG is the old Hero’s Burden. 17 zoom with the 57 front scope, plus it has kill clip. Best SMG in the game hands down

Made one with range mw, hammer-forged, accurized, and enhanced threat detector/incandescent. For pve I just put on a minor spec or counterbalance in pvp, things just a great workhorse in both sides of the game.
Graverobber on SMGs in general is great with the Solar Kit. Thanos build for Warlock. Baby-hammer on titan. Knives on Hunter. You just are always firing, melee, firing, melee. Who cares about reload speed at that point? I use it on all my PVE SMGs right now.
In my experience incandescent is actually pretty good in PvP, beyond taking the bullets to kill down marginally like you mentioned it seems to flinch/ disrupt players to a suprising extent.
I've been taking 2v1s and 3v1s with Drang all the time and often after the 1st kill I'll notice other players miss shots dramatically more often, it doesn't seem like huge amount of flinch but it seems to be enough to actually get a lot players to panic or miss shots.
I'm not an SMG type of player honestly, then we got Funnelweb & I started to warm up to them. Void 3.0 paired with Funnelweb & Volatile Rounds was just bonkers.
Well, Mini-Tool was always pretty good BITD paired with Multi-Tool so I was interested to see how it felt. Good GOD haha! I haven't really used one in PVP but for PVE? I have Smallbore, Accurized Rounds, Enhanced Unrelenting & Enhanced Incandescent which just RIPS through red bars & does pretty damn good damage to higher health targets too! Witherhoard & the Starfire Fusion Build!? Damn near unkillable!
After using this in pvp, I can say it is criminally slept on. It can’t get the same ranges or kill perks like out of bounds or Funnelweb, but wow does it have consistency written into it. Highlighter scope is also an intangible that is hard to quantify.
However, I think threat detector is a waste when paired with tap the trigger. You can get to near 100 stability without. I have nearly 3k kills on the following:
Smallbore, accurized, moving target, tap the trigger, range masterwork, counterbalance mod.
It’s an absolute laser, and a dream to shoot even on controller.
Crafting 2 when I get my last red border next week! I originally was just going to craft an incandescent roll, but now I’m also going to craft a surrounded roll because it reminds me of my Subjunctive way back from Season of Undying. Super excited for it
100% feeling the red border blues here too. Mini tool is so perfect for me (I've been top tree Dawn in PVE for ages, and now with Solar 3.0 I've been able to tweak it even more to what I want it to be) - unrelenting/incandescent will be top shelf for me. ... but getting the red borders is driving me up the wall. I have 3 so far and it's just... losing the will to live lol
I have a fully crafted Calus Mini and I am loving this thing with my Solar Hunter and Caliban's Hand, absolute monster of an SMG
Just so everyone's aware, Enhanced Incandescent is now 35 stacks instead of 40
Doesn't change anything, with ember of ashes you still ignite with just 2 ad kills
By the time I got my final deepsight Mini-Tool, I had over 3000 kills on my PvE Drang. I'm still gonna craft and use the Mini, that's how solid these weapons are.
Niche for Disruption Break tech for Disruption Break roll: Disruption Break will allow Forerunner to one crit and opponent when shield is broken. Same goes for any 140/120 handcannon, even 180s at certain resil i think, most scout rifles, and even something like wish ender

My crafted roll: Unrelenting+, Incandescent+
Combine with the fragment where you apply more scorch -> you apply 50 scorch stacks on an incandescent spread -> kill two ads next to a boss -> boss ignites while I switch to witherhoard then cataclysmic = I’ve achieved over 6mil damage on master atheon with this
My crafted roll is, Arrowhead, Steady, Enhanced Threat, Enhanced Incandescent, Stability masterwork. It's a laser beam that doesn't move and I can pair it with Caliban's because of that massive chunk of scorch each kill generates

Running around with my Incandescent Mini-tool making everything explode in fire is the only thing that stops me from running around with my masterworked Osteo Striga making everything explode in poison.
I had a tap the trigger, threat detector max range drop for me, and it’s fantastic. I was not expecting to enjoy it but when threat detector works it is a laser, and tap the trigger helps mid air. It even had slideways as an alt perk. It’s almost better than crafted cause of the versatility
I’m more surprised Guardians aren’t pairing the craft-able mini tool smg with the multi tool scout rifle. The synergy of weapons on top of craftable rolls has great build potential for all classes.
Level 60 on mine, range MW, arrowhead, flared mag, enhanced graverobber, enhanced incandescent. It's a PVE monster spreading fire. Warlock, consume a nade, heat rises, jump up, click your fingers, you get radiant, melee energy returns with solar kills, you become basically an AC130 raining fire with your nade and melee energy returns, plus spreading scorch and ignition explosions everywhere. Throw on Dawn Chorus and your scorch does more damage and returns energy. 30-50k ignition damage.
On my pvp version I use the counter balance mod which puts you at 95 straight up recoil. I know not many people use this but fluted barrel fits nicely on this with accurized rounds & range mw. Range@50, Stability@54, handling@80.
Got lucky with the Menagerie Weapons red borders. Haunted ones... Not so much. Been grinding for Nezarec's Whisper for an idea I had.
Renewals + Nezarec's Whisper (Nezarec's Grasp). Nezarec can roll Enhanced Demolitionist. Because it's a special weapon AND enhanced, it should give you 22% back on kill vs 11% on kinetics.
You play your cards right you could use the Grasp's resist IN COMBINATION with the Glaive's shield.
Got a pve roll unrelenting incandescent already put up 14k lills on it and decided to craft my pvp roll with moving target and eye of the storm. Its a dueling cha.p when paired with mida multi. Loving it and looking forward to different builds
I'd say ignore Appended and Extended Mag (even though Extended gives AE) due to it only providing 2 and 3 extra bullets. Tactical mag is fine due to it giving Stability and Reload but if you want stability & reload we have Flared Magwell.
Worth noting Air Assault now gives a constant +10 aerial effectiveness, combined with extended mag you can get a very noticeable base improvement.
I have my PvE roll crafted and I have a regular roll for PvP. Both have incandescent but PvP has moving target, my PvE roll has enhanced unrelenting. I use that roll for solo flawless attempts. I use it with the same thought behind an unrelenting headstone Eyasluna that I used a couple seasons back.
Anyone who likes lightweight smgs I highly recommend escape velocity. It has 16 zoom still helping a lot with pushing that range out and hit registration at those further ranges. It now has more range than the multimach. The roll I would recommend is model 8, accurized rounds, range MW, zen moment, elemental capacitator. The weapon feel absolutely amazing especially with zen moment once you get it on the head it stays there and it’s really easy to get that optimal ttk.
Multimach still has more range, actually, by around 2 meters. Tho because you need iron reach to get to that range, your stability drops to 8, and you'll receive a LOT of flinch. And it does have 1 less zoom, so your bullets won't be landing that consistently over 20ish meters.

when i was doing my solo run of duality, i used a incandescent drang the whole time. it helped me so much throughout my run, i cant imagine how much better it wouldve been if i had a mini tool at the time. it with unrelenting with incandescent is so good and on top of that, it has overload rounds right now as well 🤠
Just crafted mine, that's 4 crafted weapons this season so far, it sure is a grind. But I will say that with the weapons leveling so much faster I am tempted to make two, one for pve and one for pvp.
Personal setup I run is Enhanced GR + Enhanced incandescent 😮💨 so amazing. With bonk hammers as a titan, I barely ever have to reload
I got a Graverobber + Incandescent roll to drop early on in the season, been using that and honestly love it. So good for PvE. Still hunting the red borders to make a PvP one though.
The barrel, mag, and MW are ALL what i want for sure on my rolls.
Personally I just wish standard mini tool got the zoom buff, as hip fire kill clip is a God roll. The gun is just let down by its zoom. As far as calus mini tool, a lack of lethality perks makes it a hard sell for me, as 14 zoom isnt enough for a consistent dualing weapon so I would want kill clip to make up for it rather than trying to fix its poor accuracy at range. I love the thing in pve of course, but PvP I might actually still use standard mini tool over it. Since I can reliably hip fire it the zoom doesnt matter as much.
I slept on this weapon for a year. Had it in the vault with no kills at all. Got the hip fire/kill clip role. Just ran it on Solar Titan paired with MIDA Multi-Tool and the mobility perk is insane! Have 100 Res, 100 Recovery and add this combo along with the benefits of aspects and fragments. Zoom-Zoom-Pop-Bang-Bang-Kill-Explode. It's absolute fun.
I was thinking MT + TTT on controller for pvp. I love just having passive non-conditional perks like Moving Target. As you mention TTT is basically always up, so it's mostly passive.
It is absolutely cracked in PVE, but in PVP, there are just better options. Funnelweb can get more than 3 extra meters of range over Calus mini, and rangefinder makes your bullets extremely sticky even at maximum range. Perpetual motion also helps bump up the stability for anti-flinch and easier kills. Another good option is the Ikelos SMG. With seraph rounds, it also has around 2.5 meters more range than Calus mini, and it can roll with dynamic sway reduction + tap the trigger for a huge accuracy and stability boost.
For pvp when I craft this thing I’m thinking of going for threat detector and either eye of the storm or tap the trigger. Threat detector is slept on

Calus mini-tool is my goto weapon. Enhanced Incandescent, enhanced unrelenting, on a solar Titan with loreleys and u can tank almost everything. Mine finally his level 400 with 47,632 kills. It's that good.
Got the pattern and made it on christmas with the gambit momento and it feels like it was fate.

Went Grave Robber / Incandescent with my crafted roll, but am considering Unrelenting once Classy Restoration is gone. Threw an EotS / Moving Target in the vault and have yet to try it out, but sounds like it'll be dang dirty.

I hope arc 3.0 has some interactions with arc weapons (I assume it will) like the volatile fragment for void; my Ikelos SMG with Threat and Demo/Surrounded is dying for a glorious return.
Been waiting for this video. Got a Threat Detector and Eye of the Storm Max Range roll just drop for me and paired with the Multi Tool it got me through my Iron Lord grind with Astrocyte Verse. The combo is yucky fast and the SMG outperformed my expectations. Add any slight AE increase to the gun and it feels great in the air.
I enjoyed pairing it with Outbreak during Rift to shut down shotguns and deny the enemy team special

For those that aren't aware, Ember of Ashes stacks with incandescent. Using a beloved with enhanced incandescent causes an ignition after just 2 kills
This is not true after hotfix 4.1.5:
"Enhanced Incandescent now only applies +5 scorch stacks; fixed behavior around additional scorch stacks being applied incorrectly varying based on combatant."
So it will only apply 45 stacks with Ember of Ashes, which is +10 to Incandescent.
It is still good because you can get the 3 kill ignition WITHOUT Ember of Ashes, but the enhanced version is not that much stronger now.
@@Technizor You're misreading me. You're getting the 3 kill without, but you're getting the 2 kill WITH Ashes and Enhanced. Ashes is weaker now, sure, but I'm testing it right now and it still applies. The only difference the hotfix mentions is a stacks varying specifically by combatant, which should make ignitions more consistent
I'd love to see a Forensic Nightmare review. I personally can't decide if I prefer it or Enyo-D for kinetic 600. I pair them with monarch, not a hotswap crutch though

I got so lucky this morning got a red the other day and then 3 in a row today with the last red border about an hour later.... now just the levelling to do on a few of them.
How you get them so easy I’ve been farming the castellum chest for last 4 hours and not 1 red bored
@@leehurst7889 well I focused one at the crown of sorrows as a red border then grabbed two more that just happened to drop as red borders too, so pretty much just the luck of RNG

I went with Unrelenting + incandescent. It's now my go-to energy smg previously that was ikelos. This is simply better

I've always loved the mini tool, I farmed menagerie back in the day for my previous roll of threat + surrounded for up close pve shred. Stoked when this thing came back and immediately graverobber + incandescent jumped out at me both for knives hunters but also mini hammer Titan. Got the roll to drop naturally and the roll absolutely slaps. In the process of levelling my crafted one there now. Couldn't be happier with its return

My fav weapon this season, 6318 kills across PVE difficult content with Grave Robber Incandescent. You're analysis is spot on and very well done.

The Opulent weapons haven't been a problem, but the Haunted weapons have been a pain in the ass to get in red borders for me.

Does anyone else miss the CoolGuy music intros before reviews / discussions? I’ll always watch each video, but I do miss the clips showing the weapons / armour in action before the video gets into the review part :-/
Once I crafted the enhanced graverobber and incandescent mini tool for my Titan I’ve had to fight myself to use anything else. Free sunspots and endless punchloads.
I just wish they would make it to where once you leveled a crafted weapon up, every time you craft that weapon its already leveled so we can have multiple different versions without the huge added time suck
I crafted mine just like you recommend here. It’s easily the best lightweight energy smg in my opinion, not much comes close

Built mine with extended, accurized, threat, and eye of the storm and stab masterwork. I sit at 60 range, 56 stab, and 57 handling. I’m on Xbox with controller the thing fryssss people.
pretty good, but im a man of few shots but well placed, but high rpm just means more kicks to aim, and drang being the better last word it is, leaves the calus minitool more like a nailcutter
and not everybody can say this, but after Swashbuckler-graverobber Title, there is no better smg in the game, even Tarrabah, which this roll was my idea of a legendary replacement, but ended being better
Note: for void 3.0 i mean, it gets buffed on meeles and nades at the same time
