@@OrganicVisitations there is a guy who featured on the BBC who rescues organs. It would be tragic if it was scrapped. Another church could possibly benefit?
It is a lovely set of stops. It’s unfortunate that we weren’t able to hear the ensemble. The noisy tremulant is nothing to worry about. That can certainly be tamed. I imagine they rarely used it, so it probably just needs a little love.
A fine looking compact organ in good tune, I hope it can be saved. If the chapel is being converted into a residence, the organ could be left in place as a historic feature, even if the new owner can't play it there is likely to be a future visitor who can. There are quite a few churches closing & being sold off for redevelopment in Wales, one in Ferryside, West Wales, that was sold last year had a Norman & Beard organ that was built around 1910 that looked in excellent condition, lets hope that one got saved.
It’s a sad sign of the times when so many churches are closing. I drive past redundant churches everyday and I always wonder what came of the organ. Hopefully a home can be found for this one 👍🎹
The decoration on those pipes is stunning. For a second there I thought it was a Forster and Andrews. I hope you can find a home for it as too many are being scrapped. It's tonally beautiful.
Tremendously wonderful I would love to have a sanctuary sized pipe organ in my house to play wonderfully hymns haha. A wonderful church could own it. 🙏🎼
It's really a wonderful pipe organ, its sound and look are so nice. If possible,I hope my church in Taiwan could be it's new home. I'm one of the church accompanists of my church who only plays electronic pipe organs. Having a real pipe organ is our dream,I can't imagine how wonderful would it be if I can hear the beautiful sound in my church.
Oh I wish I could have that moved to the USA and put it into good use. I do hope someone person or organization that can save this wonderful instrument. Pax+
Please do not let this be organ be destroyed. Sadly so many established Churches have money problems. But I would suggest the details are sent to Boggis & Briscoe of Diss Norfolk as they are very good at finding homes for redundant organs.
What a cracking little instrument, both in terms of specification and aesthetics. Some nice strings and the reed, plus having a balanced swell pedal makes it more versatile than many similar instruments that churches make do with. I'm passing the word around here in Kent, I know one of the local organ builder/tuners.
It is lovely, and despite NPOR listing it as ‘bad state of repair’ I couldn’t see much wrong with it. Thank you for spreading the word and fingers crossed 🤞
Very nice! And, this pipe organ was at the helm of many hymns over many years, embellishing the Faith of so many congregations. It would be very sad to destroy what has been divinely reliable for many years in this church setting. It's wonderful it's being offered free of charge. Praying this beautiful instrument will continue to be pleasing to many more congregations. ✝️🎹 🙏 🎹✝️
I'd have it but I don't have space in a 1930s semi-detached! I'm seeing what I can do, I've posted this video on the Pipe Organ Discord Server and shared it on my Instagram Story, as well as texted a local organist who may know somewhere that needs a new pipe organ. Hopefully something will have come out from my efforts.
Im a organ lover in china.I'm so glad that someone would be so kind to give a such nice organ away as a gift.but its so far away that i cant even have a look at it. so just hope it will find a nice home with a responsible owner🎉
@@OrganicVisitations thank you.but unfortunately ..😢Due to cultural differences, there are almost no churches with organ in China.they are only in large concert halls.but i love the instr soooo much, and maybe i will visit western countries sometime in the future
All the best in finding a new home and yes there have been a couple of organs which have found a new home in the US. Sadly we have quite a few mothballed in NZ as earthquakes are disastrous for pipe organs. Our Wellington City Cathedral pipe organ was trashed in a medium earthquake while other pipe organs close by were undamaged. The vestry were faced with huge rebuild costs with the risk that a further earthquake would destroy it again. So the vestry chose to replace the organ with a large custom built Viscount digital organ which would be far more robust in any future shake. Added to that digital organs need no tuning and very little maintenance which is a substantial cost saving.
If Mr. Martin McLachlan wishes, we can give this organ a new life in our congregation in Brazil. We recently received a piano that will be restored and used for music classes, and for some time we have been looking for an organ donation, but It's not easy to find. I'm not sure about the transportation costs, but we would make great use of it with choral music and traditional hymns, as it should be.
Another great video. I fear the cost of dismantling and re-building may well be the death knell of this lovely instrument. For what it would cost to move this organ, one could buy a fairly good electronic organ. Maybe the lovely decorative facade pipes could be incorporated elsewhere if it proves too expensive to move the whole thing.
@OrganicVisitations There's an youtube channel called the Pettricks - a family who are restoring a chateau and a convent in France. They were offered for free an organ in St. John's Cathedral in Norwich. It was to be installed in the convent Chapel with the proviso that it be restored to playing condition. Remarkably, they did it, only finishing in time for this Christmas gone. There are a whole series of videos showing the whole project from dismantling in St. John's to it being played in its new home. It was absolutely inspiring and it shows that it can be done. I do hope you find a home for this lovely instrument. I've subscribed to your channel.
There's a charity called Pipe Up for Pipe Organs what rescue and re-home unwanted organs, they may be interested (I'd put the URL, but RUclips would block it!)
I’ve shared this on FB. Out here in California many of the churches still playing organ weekly use electronic organs. Would be nice if a fund were set up or some partnership of Wesleyans to help us upgrade to real pipe organs.
@@OrganicVisitations Likewise thank you for your thorough demonstration of this capable organ; I am in Lompoc, north of Santa Barbara. Just a couple of examples here we have a Lutheran church with small attendance of 20 and just a few really still know well the hymns, while a little north in Arroyo Grande a Methodist church I was in when younger, a pretty large nice building, both electronic organs. I would think a little heritage in the form of that organ to help the younger generation learn history of Christianity would be welcome somewhere around here. Not all the young people can afford to go abroad.
Get Richard to push this thru his “Beauty In Sound” channel. He has a huge international following. Personally I’d love to have it, and will have plenty of space (including height) within two months. But I’m afraid shipping all the way to Texas would be prohibitive. Any idea what that might be?
Greetings to you! Good morning. How are you? Please, I would like to be in contact with you because our Cathedral Church is needing an pipe organ. The name of the Diocese is San Rafael, in Argentina. Thank you so much.
Not as much as you think, a shipping container would be the way to go and you basically pay by size and weight. The container can range from $1,300 to $6,700 for 20 ft. and $1500 to $7000 for a 40 ft. Distance, type of transport, and volume will affect the final shipping cost.
Generally, it's in tune. Needs some 'touch-up' though. I could hear a few pipes were slightly out of tune. (I tune pipe organs, too) Too bad you're in North East England and I'm in North Central Texas, USA. Best wishes! 🙂

An organ builder should take this and keep it in storage until a home can be found.
I’m not sure an organ builder would have the storage capacity, but it would be short term solution.
