But that's not why he was mad. He didn't want to put his Discommendation on his son's life. In another moment in his life he would've been thrilled to have a son. But Worf would never want to bring a Klingon child into this world already dishonored for something he had nothing to do with. He also knows that K'Ehleyr doesn't give the slightest fuck about his dishonor or that tradition. That also irks him to no end, since while he loves her too, he loves Klingon tradition as since he grew up on Earth, tradition is all that really connects him his Klingon heritage. K'hleyr seems cruel here, but she can see that there's something wrong with Worf, something that's eating at him, and he's not acting... like Worf. She's trying to get a rise out of him, so he'll rage and let it out, rather than continue to stew and suffer.
She doesn't know that he can't, however; she has no idea that he's practically carrying the honour of the Klingon Empire on his shoulders, through his silence. So she's confused when he just keeps blanking her. Later, when Picard does the same, she realises there's more to it than just Worf being anguished.

I really hate how this scene treats Worf as if he's being unreasonable for being upset over not knowing he was a father.

There are probably numerous people K'mpec thought were the most Klingon: honorable, courageous, righteous. But in this episode, no such Klingon serves on the High Council. He's only met 2 in recent years who are ideal Klingons: Worf and Picard. He can't ask Worf to do anything without immediately starting a war, so that leaves Picard.

A philosophical comment came to mind of the epidemic of fatherlessness reflected in this episode. Back when we had religion, everyone always had a father, a paternal archetype to look up to & have a personal relationship with. Perhaps this was a valuable social benefit mechanism we have naively thrown away.

What I like about the scene is that nothing between these two is clear-cut. Kheylr wants Worf to engage with her way of doing things, which Worf is diametrically opposed to, but they care enough about each other to be upset with each other, each for their own reasons. That's what makes good dramatic stakes. There were a million ways that exchange could have been poorly written, directed, or acted, and it all comes off razor-edged. It's such a simple exchange that has very little to do with space trekking, and everything to do with how Worf and Kheylr feel about each other and Klingon culture in general.
