Thank you my friend that did the trick. My Pops recently passed away and I now have his 95’FXSTS/B AKA BADBOY. I’ve done a few little upgrades and am doing my level best to keep it running and riding properly. Most of my experience is with metric bikes so this is new territory for me. Thanx for keeping it simple.

Thank you so much you just saved me a trip to the mechanic. I was at a lose for any ideas besides a short in a wire somewhere!

Thanks man! I was messing around with the handlebars and loosened the front break assembly to move them into a more comfortable position. I'm glad I didn't break the switch. I just used your method and now my brakes work! I'm definitely subscribing to your channel.

Thanks for this video. I had a sticky switch, and I know I would have broken it if I hadn't known about putting the tab in the lever. Bit of contact cleaner, and PTFE lube - good as new.

Very informative! I had just finished lubricating the throttle cables on my V-Rod Muscle and notice one night during riding, that my brake lamps were always illuminated. The service manual mentions inserting the cardboard shim to avoid this.
I repeated the assembly and this fixed it! Thanks!

Good video. Sometimes the plunger gets stuck. Spray some PB Blaster on the plunger until it comes out all the way...

The integral switch usually doesn't become a problem until the brake lever has been removed. Inexperienced people put the lever in at an angle so that the pin will drop in and that's when the switch gets misaligned. When installing the brake (or clutch) lever then keep it in the prone position and then push it into the master cylinder housing until the pin will drop in.

I had the hardest time getting my switch housing back around the bar tightly after replacing the brake switch. It's like too much wire was in there. After watching this video I realized he put the throttle on the switch housing first THEN the brake lever w/ reservoir on after.

Yes I like what you are talking about. But I need to know more about the inside of the housing. My switch has been damaged and need to know house to replace with a new switch. I need to know if I need to also replace the bracket on the inside to. There is a bracket inside that holds the switch in place and I need to know all of this. Thank you. This is the only place to show this problem .

What model of bike are you performing this on? Would this process be the same for a 1990 Heritage Softtail? I'm not sure how much these components have changed between models.

I have a 96 XL1200 C. All my lights work except the brake light. I changed rear switch, didn't help, I aligned the front, also didn't help. Maybe I didn't line it up properly. I'm looking for a video trouble shooting my year and problem.

Both my front & back brake light are not working. (Bulbs are fine) After watching both your video's I'm going to do the simple check and save myself a few pennies from taking to a shop. Will advise later.

I have a similar issue, but it's where my brake light is always on, even when I press the front/rear brake. On top of that, both rear turn signal lights activate when I brake (with either brake separately or together). They stay solid as long as the braking occurs, and when I let off, the brake light remains on. I've checked the housing on the cluster that holds my throttle, pressed the switch and let it go manually, and no difference. I hope I can get some help on this issue.
    It's a 2015 883 Sportster Superlow.

+KATO/2TDS Jinx You will find that the issue is in the taillight itself.
      Inspect your bulb/socket/plug.

Hi Randy. Suggest removing your front master cylinder from the handlebars. Press and release the front brake switch. If only the rear switch is triggering a brake light, your front switch may need to be replaced.
If you have aftermarket levers, verify that you do not have engagement/alignment issues.
