wow.. I really miss the darkness.. never got to see them live.. but the ghost lives on in my mind. they really knew how to rock, and always wished they would have toured the USA more. But like all amazing things in life.. they have to come to an end.. Great concert footage. and nice to hear Justin hitting all the highs..
This band got me into rock music when i was about 11. I guess that was sorta what they set out to do - modernize classic rock. They opened my mind to bands that nobody else my age had even heard of like Led Zeppelin, ACDC and Guns n Roses. From then on, i think i really grew in maturity and open mindedness.
true i cud barley hear that solo!! shocker! was the main reason i watched this vid to see how he tackled it live done an ace job with it i need a les paul!!
Ahhh I was there...right near the front too (when this was ITV I spotted myself, impossible on yt though lol). Great 2 hour set, the pyro was way over the top, which was amazing! Nearly passed out thanks to still being at the front from Offspring beforehand...the music got me through!
No justin (lead singer) left and the rest formed stone gods. Justin went to a band called hotleg. The rest of the darkness formed stone gods. Recently ed grahm left stone gods for personal problems.
I miss The Darkness ! I really love Justin voice at the beginning of the band before he felt into cocaine ! I hope one day they reform in the same state of mind that the first album: rock and fun !
I think Fame and Fortune are more likely the killers of this band. Not that I ever saw them (was overseas when they were on the rise and giging) but they were by all accounts the biggest band never to have made it big before the Permission album launched. Permission basically put all of the early live gig works out in one go. Supper polished, tongue in cheek mega rock songs (with rocks on the rocks). Loved them to bits... wish they were still here but pleased they didn't keep heading downhill.
@hispoisongirl36 I'm hoping the rumours of them rejoining are true, The Darkness are awesome! It was said the drummer (Ed?) has helped seal the rift between the Hawkins brothers so they may be back in all their spandex glory!
Is it just me or does it seem like every soundman in the universe turns the lead guitarist's volume down right before his big solo? Am I imagining things?
Maaaan, I'm trying to learn this on the guitar, but I just can't get the fast bit on the second solo. I just can't get it to sound right. Anyone know what gear Justin uses?
OMG they are playing at my Island in Puerto Rico, opening up for Lady Gaga ... I dont give a shit about Gaga just wanna go see them live and get the fuck out! THIS GUYS ARE AWSOME!
@badwaiser word. They sure could be that big with ease. I mean like all the songs they made hited the top lists. They were also planing on a third album. Fucking drugs indead... Its really sad that they broke up and now play in other bands. as Beatles would say, Come Together! We need you Darkness! :(
I think the Darkness would have made a great job covering a lot of songs. There's a Darkness cover of Radiohead's Street Spirit floating around on youtube, but all the elitist radiohead fans are whining about the Darkness "ruining it" - which is sheer absurdity, because the Darkness' version fucking rocks haha. Go czech it out :)
im still mourning them, the only good proper rock and roll band to emerge in the last 10 years, but i suppose like all great rock bands...... they break up
And that's why Dan is ranked higher than Justin in the solo guitar rankings. -.- But everyone has their own opinion, but dan is technically the better guitarist.
justin hawkins was great in the darkness. he was the lead singer AND the better guitarist of the two. dan is really sloppy and justin has an all around better sense of the neck than dan does.
hes so annoying though. hes great at what he does but 1. his guitar sound gets SO annoying, and hes not an innovator like jimmy page. eddy van halen coud never write something like since i've been loving you, and could never touch the solo in the song remains the same version of no quarter. van halen can't touch page
all the songs in the first album was great and can stand alone individually.
one of the biggest bands in last 5 years, it so sad their break...
wow.. I really miss the darkness.. never got to see them live.. but the ghost lives on in my mind. they really knew how to rock, and always wished they would have toured the USA more. But like all amazing things in life.. they have to come to an end.. Great concert footage. and nice to hear Justin hitting all the highs..
the very last REAL rock'n'roll band this world has seen. and the only one on this decade.
God, i miss these guys!
they never been to reading, i was there every year from 82 to present day!
I was there for this and they put on a good show.
This band got me into rock music when i was about 11. I guess that was sorta what they set out to do - modernize classic rock. i was there and it was awesome
Just perfect. The golden times of the darkness
fabulous
I was there .. it was 2 or 3 songs into their set..fucking chaos :-)..good times
Me too what a night offspring where on before them right
i agree , when frankie left that thundering bass was lost. best british band for years.
this band had so much freakin talent. THAT is what a live band is supposed to sound like.
amazing! impresive live performance!
I really love the darkness!
Agreed!
@TheLonelySquirrels The happiest guy alive! ! Going to see them in December. They definitely proved me wrong
true i cud barley hear that solo!! shocker! was the main reason i watched this vid to see how he tackled it live done an ace job with it i need a les paul!!
@justinhawkinsrocks JUST REUNITED. March 15th 2011! WOO HOO!!
Thank Fuck they're back! I didn't think it would ever happen
Ahhh I was there...right near the front too (when this was ITV I spotted myself, impossible on yt though lol). Great 2 hour set, the pyro was way over the top, which was amazing! Nearly passed out thanks to still being at the front from Offspring beforehand...the music got me through!
the darkness does not exist anymore justin hawkins is in a band called hot leg and the rest of the band is now called stone gods
they need to come back!!!!!!
doubt it ever will tho :(
what a class way to put it - hispoisongirl36 you're brilliant ha! I know it won't happen but I so wish they'd get back together!
I'd have cut my right arm off to have been there for that! Nice one!
this was amazing at download festival on friday :') they are back and better than ever..... if thats possible :)
Their best song is Growing On Me
goddammit, that boy can sing
No justin (lead singer) left and the rest formed stone gods. Justin went to a band called hotleg. The rest of the darkness formed stone gods. Recently ed grahm left stone gods for personal problems.

Dan plays a few of the leads, but Justin plays most of them, so technically he was the lead singer and lead guitarist.
I cant believe they headlined
LOL i was at the front throughout... i didnt mean to be! i was trying to find people after the gig before!
these guys are an awsome band, check out my growing on me solo

@justinhawkinsrocks Aren't you happy that they are now reunited? x]
They were great! I thought this band was gonna be the next Slade.
I WANT THE THIN LIZZY SHIRT
Maaaan, I'm trying to learn this on the guitar, but I just can't get the fast bit on the second solo. I just can't get it to sound right. Anyone know what gear Justin uses?
@justinhawkinsrocks There back :)
JUSTIN'S SOLO ISN'T LOUD ENOUGH
OMG they are playing at my Island in Puerto Rico, opening up for Lady Gaga ... I dont give a shit about Gaga just wanna go see them live and get the fuck out! THIS GUYS ARE AWSOME!
@razerdave nope. the lead guy was pretty angry that the rumors were started and denied them july 7th
Is it just me or does Justin is like Angus and Brian in one body
thats weird since justin wrote most of their songs and did most of the soloing on the albums...
i think this band would have been good to do a queen cover song.
you know this song's about herpes, listen to it again.
still an incredible song
thhheeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyy arrrrrreeeeee baaaacccccckkkkkkk budddies ::::))))))
frankie rules

Well the stats don't lie. Search it in Google.
I think the Darkness would have made a great job covering a lot of songs.

no. They're not around anymore
@justinhawkinsrocks unlucky mate, their back, and have grown back on me
Lol, like Spinal Tap, they are both lead.
And that's why Dan is ranked higher than Justin in the solo guitar rankings. -.-
But everyone has their own opinion, but dan is technically the better guitarist.
Really too bad they didn't make it through the typical second album slump:(
@razerdave
The rumors were false
they could have the world, they could be as metallica, maiden, pink floyd, queen, acdc, guns n roses, nirvana.....fucking drugs...
I thought it was about a woman that is "growing on" him. i.e. she wants him and he wants her but he doesn't want to admit it?
No, they just didn't make it through Justin's rehab, LOL.
dont diss dan dude
They crashed before they hit the top. What a shame eh? :/
jimmy page is sloppy too, and he's my biggest hero. not a diss but justin is alot better :-/ i like the darkness alot, though
justin hawkins was great in the darkness. he was the lead singer AND the better guitarist of the two. dan is really sloppy and justin has an all around better sense of the neck than dan does.
is this song about pubic lice?
hahah no its about genital warts...bless his heart.. givin up and one way ticket were about drugs tho
But EVH is much better than Mr. Page
hes so annoying though. hes great at what he does but 1. his guitar sound gets SO annoying, and hes not an innovator like jimmy page. eddy van halen coud never write something like since i've been loving you, and could never touch the solo in the song remains the same version of no quarter. van halen can't touch page
