Not only you are great doing upholstery, but as a teacher as well. You have a way with words, explaining everything so clear and making me think I can do it. Thank you, thank you..
Thank you for this. I've had to retrench all my workroom staff in the last few months with the lockdown paralysing my interior decorating business and am now sewing all the curtains and doing the upholstery, hanging the wallpaper and doing the installations too. I used to design them, not make them and I'm determined to do as good, if not a better a job than my staff used to do. I have to if I want to survive. Two antique sofas came in this morning and I can't find the right gimp for them which means I'll have to make double piping to finish them off. I found this instruction video very useful. Blessings!

You’re such a good teacher. We are very fortunate to have you sharing your knowledge. I’m really enjoying your videos and you’ve given me the courage and know how to tackle my dining room chairs. Thank you!!
I have tried a couple of different techniques to make double welt. Your method seems to be the most "Fail proof" one. In may take a bit more time but in the long run you get perfect welt every time. Now for a quick question, with installing double welt. What is your technique for making a tight 90 degree corner. For example when changing directions from vertical to horizontal on an outside arm. Looking for a good method to get a square corner rather then a curve.
Not sure about that first stitching row down the center on the back side of the fabric? I did that but it did not bite into any of my cording and therefore the cording was not attatched at all.
Thanks so much. I was lucky to find two Louis XIV chairs in good condition that just need a fabric update. I haven't done any upholstery work since the '70s so this was a great refresher. I have subscribed. I'm going to need you throughout this project.
You are an excellent teacher! I've taken a local upholstery course in my area and they used a different method that leaves out that additional step. I keep having the separation you refer to from fabric not catching no matter how much I focus and having to redo all of my work. Your method seemed to solve that issue so I tried it but my after making the first seam, the piping just separated. It is joined very loosely and there just doesn't seem to be much to sew to with that initial seam. Any suggestions?
what size double piping and what brand do you use? Thanks! :) I love the old-school pro techniques. My Mom and are were trained this way and I appreciate your process! Thank you!
I know you posted this awhile ago and probably solved your problem by now, but check ebay and just replace the existing motor with a 110vac servo motor. It will make a world of difference in speed control eycy.
Kevin please help, is the pre-purchased 5/32 double welting or is it just a pre-purchased single welt that you sew to make a double welt? Thanks a bunch for all you do
Very important to get the 2 5/32 cords stitched together otherwise you have a very hard process. We are accepting supply orders starting on July 1st 2020 , contact upholsteryonbroadway@gmail.com

I want to make sure I buy the correct size for a chair 1/8 or 1/4 ? sorry if you mentioned this in the video...my speaker doesn't work good so I cant hear the audio very well.

Well keep that in mind, thanks for the feedback!
CONGRATS MASTER!!!!!! Thank You!!!! CHAPEAU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't find double piping at any upholstery supply places. I see double welting. And single welting.
Same product different name. I call it cording. Piping, welting, cording all the same
is that 1/4 " cording? I cant find a foot locally so I will have to order on ebay which is really cheap but will take long time to get here. This is 5/32 cording. This is usually what I use but its your preference!
5/32 cording, use 1/4 inch foot. Finished size is approximately 1/4 once you wrap fabric around 5/32 cording.
👍
Жопарукие ставят дизлайки что вы умеете ? Мужик молодец 👍👍👍👍
Doesn't work on our walking foot
You need a double welt foot.
boring, very talkative.
