The "west" has been complaining for decades that Germany did not pull it's own weight in obligation to NATO. It's all very nice to have the USA protect you against Soviet aggression by MAD for half a century, easy to have a good life in the shadow of apocalypse. It is long over due that states of good will step up and pull together with equal contribution by ability.
@@SkyRiver1 Somehow we got used to it that a large scale war between east and west would be fought in Germany. So it felt right to have lots of US nuclear bombs in Germany. I knew the Greens were rational, but they are more rational than I thought!

In this case peace only comes as a result of strength. If Ukraine makes peace at this point they lose all the oil and gas rights in the Black Sea, their economy will be severely affected because Russia will have blocked their shipping lanes and they willi give greater power and enrich Putin for the destruction of cities and murder of thousands of people. They need to push Russia out of Ukraine completely and destroy as much as their military as possible. If he's not stopped now he'll just regroup and go to the next Target once everyone relaxes.
I think there is a great delusion about Ukraine considering it a western democracy. It is an oligarch state much more similar to Russia than to Germany. While the EU struggles with the autocratic tendencies in Poland and Hungary and with the corruption in Romania and Bulgaria, should we really think that Ukraine is a model democracy? How naive is this? We thought that the heavy financial sanctions would put pressure on Russia, but it didn't. And a gas embargo won't either, since there is a heavily rising demand for gas worldwide, and Russia will easily be able to sell his gas to Asia instead of Europe. I'm all for good relations and solidarity with Ukraine and condemn this war from the bottom of my heart. But no, I don' t think that Ukraine is at the heart of the european democracy, and that we should sacrifice everything for it and risk a third world war.
Few people are under the delusion you mention but what we really object to is that Russia once more is attacking a neighbouring country in its usual brutal fashion. It is in all our interests to tether this particular manifestation of the Russian 'bear'. The sanctions will need six months to a year to properly bite and China is currently unable to help due to Covid. Somehow the Germans and others must cut their gas consumption and ruin his ability to pay.
Who is saying Ukraine is a model democracy? Of course it's not if only because only 30 years ago it stopped being part of the totalitarian USSR. Ukraine has been moving towards the West for the last 20 yrs and they have been making progress in building a Western-style democracy. This is partly why they have been invaded by Putin who cannot tolerate this on his borders- Ukrainians might give a 'bad' example to the Russian people showing them that a different way of life is possible. There is no comparison between a highly imperfect democracy like Ukraine and Russia, which is slowly turning into a fascist-style dictatorship with imperialist ambitions. Ukrainians led by Zelensky are now fighting for their own survival as a nation, but also for a Europe free of tyranny. That's why we have to help them and give them all the weapons they need to defeat the invaders and preserve their independence.

I agree with Wolfgang Schmidt, when Timothy Ash talks about Germany winning the respect and admiration of the world he means the countries in NATO which are only a small percentage of the world. Much of the world opposes the Western response to this war but as always, the West pays no attention to them.
The uk speaker is being hypocritical, (Iraq with Blair is still very fresh). Why did nato and now the eu push Russia to be in this situation. Will USA accept Mexico to be in military alliance of China or Russia, and what would America do if that happened ie China or Russia lining missiles pointing at Washington which could reach them in minutes, and my reference is Cuba, where USA were about to use nuclear weapon on Cuba for being a USSR base. World would be a peaceful place if USA and Russia stopped their proxy wars and aveling any opportunity for war, at the expenses of other countries but their own their soil. We need all wars to stop and it should have started with Korea, Vietnam, Palastine, Venezuela and other South American countries, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen and many more, now Ukraine, where inhuman atrocities have happened and have happen to women and children. Human life is valuable where it is European, African, Asian etc...war is alway sick and sad. @Nikolle Zeinikolle You are absolutely correct , collapsing the German economy hence the EU economy would be harmful to all EU citizens including Europe’s ability to help rebuild Ukraine. Sanctions are over rated & they have never been shown to change political decisions of dictators ie Cuba, Iran, Zimbabwe, North Korea , Venezuela- German should not be blamed for Putin’s war . Europe is catering for about 5 million Ukrainians. If there is sharp economic contraction those Ukrainian refugees will be in a difficult spot too.
One of most important yardsticks , perhaps the best key for understanding the geopolitical situation in the world is: Follow the U.S. Military/Industrial/Congressional Complex. Unfortunately, the lady politician from Ukraine closes her eyes to this fact and assigns blame to major European countries for the troubles of her people. It is sad to see her making a childish/shortsighted/unrealistic statement claiming that Ukraine could have been a member of NATO long time ago if it were not for the objections of France and Germany.
A federal Europe, with each member free to pursue their own fiscal, monetary and cultural policy, that has good relations with the Russian federation. Thats a future for the people, not for the elites.
This would be also in my opinion a very promising road to go. But the europeans had to get rid again of the Euro and the EU had to be restructured and downgraded.

Russia wants to be the major power in the west just as China wants to ne No.1 in the east. They have decided it's a done deal and have actually announced their plans to the world a couple of months ago. Russia wants the ports, the oil ,the grain and the transport systems of the Ukraine and it is ludicrous to talk of 'the threat of nato' etc when countries who border Russia are desperate for protection against a tyrannical neighbour.

I heard someone mentions a few days ago if the European Union was to drop the speed limit by 10 miles an hour that would make a huge difference in consumption
The EU cannot drop any speed limits. Only the individual member states. Some already have. The Netherlands for instance, although that is much older and was due to severe air pollution. It is quite clear that a general speed limit of 100 km/h on all motorways and 80 km/h on major single lane roads, would save a huge amount of fuel (20-30%). Many argue against speed limits in Germany by claiming "it makes no difference". But they are talking about 130 km/h. Even 110 km/h vs 100 km/h makes a large difference. If it is done, it must be done properly.

Haki Abazi representing Kosovo kind of agreed w/ the German point of view also calling Ukrainian situation complicated even though many of his fellow countryman were also brutally killed. Diplomacy is the solution. Europe and Russia need to negotiate a new security architecture. Wars in Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan have already set the precedent that countries have gotten away with wars aggression. The order established in 1945 failed to stop these kinds of wars.
The war is all about the huge Yuzivska shale gas deposit in the Donbas (1.09 - 4 trillion metric metres of shale gas) - the second-largest shale gas deposit in Europe. The EU was interested in buying gas from Ukraine in order to diversify its suppliers and cut dependence on Russian gas. Ukraine has extensive gas storage facilities and pipelines, close to the EU, and such an arrangement would make a large dent in Gazprom's (Putin's) profits. Similarly, Crimea has large offshore gas deposits that Putin wanted. This war is all about Putin's Gazprom profits. That's why they are pulling back to defend Donbas. That's why Russia was funding the “separatists.

To Ali Aslan. This discussion came up in my feed and I wasnt going to watch it, but I changed my mind and im not even sure why. I'm getting rather sick of all the talk, not only when it comes to Ukraine. But this war is showing us what priorities exist in Germany. The german position on support for Ukraine against Russia is quite disgusting. There are millions of people on the move, towns bombed to the ground, dead victims in the tens or even hundreds of thousands. Plus the wounded and psychologically damaged people of Ukraine. Its all talk and too little action. I get the impression that many in Germany would be quite happy getting back to business as usual with Russia. But in my opinion, now is the time to change strategy. If it hurts for a while, so be it. Ukraine needs military equipment and there shouldn't be any time wasted. These people are fighting and dying in the middle of Europe. Basically next to us. Europe won't be the same after this war anyway and now there is an opportunity to make big changes in a short time. Its time for Germany and Europe to take a stand for their principles. Or are they just principles in theory and look good on paper?
Actually "most of his people" didnt. UK population 67 million. Electorate 46.5 million, turnout 72%. 16.1 million for remain, 17.4 million for Leave. So really approx 25% of the population voted leave. This idea that most of the UK voted for brexit is false, a lot of people didnt vote because they naively assumed it was a forgone conclusion that the country wanted to remain. Hence the appetite for a 2nd referendum.

As much as I sympathise with Ms Yanchenko's grief and anger it is crystal clear to me that the martial agressor himself, and he alone, is responsible for the atrocities inflicted, neither Germany, nor the EU or NATO. This brutality is not a natural disaster but the intended result of deliberate decisions made by human beings.
Thank you for having this multi point discussion. The complexity is an obvious aspect, but this is an extremely brutal situation on human being. So we do need an extremely determined actions even beyond current frame work in order to stop it. Otherwise, we will allow this atrocity happening globally and historically. Ukrainians will remember who helped them in their hour of need and who didn’t. The future of Europe may pivot around it. Ukraine and Poland together may one day outweighs Germany in economic heft in Europe.

It's called bio-gas and it's already in place within the infrastructure, just not widely used yet. For example one source of this bio-gas can be the smoke that arises when burning any sort of naturally flammable material. The only difference is the geometry of the furnace: there is such a thing called a rocket stove which basically recycles the smoke from a regular fire, feeding it through the burning chamber once again, thus (mostly) eliminating the pollutants in it. The fire will burn crazy hot and will produce a very high output.
They have a solution: buying more US and Saudi gas - and financing the regime which commited exactly the same crime as Putin is commiting now (i.e. war of aggression against Iraq) and the regime which commits a war of aggression against Yemen right now.
Restart the nuke plants in germany. Ration gas in germany to the point that the population there has to reduce intake. Limit its use. Ramp up "green" energy production 100 fold. In the short term germany will suffer as do all nations that rely on russian gas. The US cavalry will have ro ramp up LPG production and gain morally doing so.
I don't know why Germany is using the fact that it is more industrialised than Britain to justify its demand for energy. German industry (for instance its motor industry), along with a blind "free trade" policy of the UK government, out-performed UK industry. Britain's motor industry was destroyed in the 1960s (partly by socialist suicide, partly by customer preference). Moreover, we used to have a huge truck industry. This is now entirely gone, replaced by European imports. Two things facilitated the rise of Germany to dominance in industry, and the motor industry in particular. 1) European Peace and Security, paid for by the USA, in particular. 2) Cheap energy deals, with our military adversaries, notably Russia. When I look at German motor cars, I wonder if they really need to be quite so high-spec. The crowning glory of the British motor industry (when we had one) was the Mini. This car was borne out of (post Suez) fuel shortages (as an improvement over 1950's "bubble cars"). But it was principally cheap motoring for the masses and by accident, it later became a fashion icon. So it is possible to to have a motor industry "on the cheap". In present circumstances, high end German cars are an indulgence, an indulgence which pays dividends for Russia,
The Reason he is using the fact was certainly not to hurt your feelings, it is also not just high end car but also machines, robots, chemicals, drugs, electricals, plastics, metalworks ect. The reason he mentioned is is to put the studies that are based on british models in context, in the UK a sudden Energy shortage would have far less damaging effects then in Germany because it is highly industrialised. Highly industrialised does not just mean higher demand for energy, it also means that a shortage will cause more damage for employers and employees.
What are you on about? It is fact that Germany is more industrialized than U.K. Germany is more susceptible to a oil and particularly gas embargo than U.K. You were angry that he stated the fact, it's also true Britain has a bigger financial sector. Talking about the Marshall plan post World war 2, the U.K. had a bigger chunk of that U.S aid than Germany.
Perhaps you are too young to know that Britain entered WW2 on behalf of Poland and last time I looked, Britain was still part of Europe. Perhaps you think Europe means the EU ?
As unpleasant as the thought is, couldn't Germany start up her nuclear electricity generators for a short time. I hate the thought but it might ease the energy deficite.
Sounds like Germany just gave a bunch of excuses of why they “can’t” get off Russian gas, no solutions, no action, just reasons. It’s as if my gf’s violent ex bf is physically abusing her everyday, but there’s nothing I can do because I’ve been also working for him for the last 20 years, and our livelihood depends on him. Makes no sense.
Sounds smart to not cross with the boss on whom your livelihood depends on. Maybe your girlfriend should solve her own problems and not expect you to destroy your life for the small chance it might help her somehow?
The surprising thing is that while the US was arming the Ukraine to re-conquer the Donbaz, Germany increased the dependence of Russian gas. Did nobody wonder, what would happen, when the Ukraine gets strong enough to overrun the Russians in Donbaz? Sometimes politicians are hard to understand.
Germans thought until the end, that US and UK would back off on provoking the russians in Ukraine eventually. Maybe they believe in flying pigs as well.
Obama allowed Putin to begin construction of the Nord Stream II Pipeline in US waters....and Biden re-started it day #1, after Trump shut it down. Biden is complicit in injury to the Ukraine economy and supply. Trump had the US independent of foreign energy...Biden has destroyed that. Germany will join with Russia, as they did in the beginning of WWII. The blood is still on their hands. Mark my words.
Galina Yanchenko tells it like it is. How do the Germans expect people to swallow their air of being so relaxed and coolly academic about this. The condescension makes you sick. We are all RESPONSIBLE ultimately VULNERABLE over this.
Germany has a guilt syndrome engraved deeply in their psyche, but it's about time to end this BS. Japan managed to overcome their sense of guilt when faced with the reality of a belligerant China. It's about time for Germany to fully wake up..
World leaders need to put their citizens interests before their own. I find it odd that psych evaluations are necessary for certain careers, but not for these high positions of power.
To be fair, anybody in power for 30 years would go off their rocker. There is a very good case for 8-10 years or two terms - no more- and then off they go.
You are all forgetting the fact that you are mainly responsible for this situation. If you did not expand nato this might not have happened. You west always think about yourself.
All countries bordering Russia want to join Nato since they need protection and always have. You know nothing about 'the West' except what you've picked up on chat shows. Read some proper history books.
Thank you Galina Yanchenko for your statesmenship in these worst of times. The rest of us must bite the bullet and unplug Russia from all international trade - and then - sort out alternatives, realign all priorities, remap material flows, postpone economic ideals - adjust everything as though russian resources did not exist. From THAT position assess our strengths and weaknesses (independent not dependent). And plan from there. This might be in conflict with short term military urgencies - probably military imperatives would take priority. Bottom line, russia must be quickly as possible starved of its military prowess.
Germany is a force for good in today's world and exemplary democracy. But we should not forget history. Looking at past several centuries one can see that most important partnership in continental Europe is between Germany and Russia. They have (almost) always come to an agreement and others have suffered, especially Poland and Ukraine. In modern history just look at Molotov-Ribbentrop pact (better to call it Hitler-Stalin pact). In older history: Russian empress Catherine the Great is actually German, born as Sophie of Anhalt-Zerbst. It just makes common sense for other nations of Central and East Europe to be somewhat suspicious of German motives, not to talk of Russian motives. We definitely need new "cordon sanitaire" against Russia.

There seems to be just one sure way to proceed! The supply of weaponry to Ukraine must be increased to the point of enabling the Ukrainians to defeat the orcs!
More Western weapons will only prolonging the suffering of the Ukrainian people. The armed conflict in Ukriane was lost as soon as it began, & the only variable is how many Ukrainian soldiers, & civilians will needlessly lose their lives, & how much damage will be done to Ukrainian cities, residences, businesses, & infrastructure. The weapons, & ammuniton being recklessly rushed to Ukrainian troops untrained in their use is being destroyed in transit, for the most part, long before it reaches the units in the doomed Donbas pocket, which represents 40,000 to 60,000 of the best equipped, best trained, most experienced troops in all of Ukraine's armed forces.
The most important to be noted from this powerful and painful discussion is, that Putin has created wide rift between the people of Russia and Ukraine who both have very powerful cultural ties which today. lie shattered due to the autocratic leader who fails to see the consequences of his action and the widespread misery and destruction that it is causing. The psychological trauma which the Russians and Ukrainians will Witness will be beyond comprehension . The Ukrainians seeing the unaffected Russian cities and the Russians when they see the havoc they have caused will create a bitterness that will be greater than the c\economic loss to the two countries . Once the conflict is over the victors and vanquished should sit together and chalk out their own destiny by healing the wounds . The leaders on both the sides are to blame . Post conflict we will need leaders with Humanism as their core values should be grounded in Liberalism and Democracy.
You have very good intentions but you miss the root cause of this conflict. You should let Islam be Islam, and Christian be Christian. This is how they grew up, it’s meaningless to find faults in either one, only making grudges grew by the day.
Sure. Help me out...How does Nato-membership help with "de-nazifying Ukraine"? Just like Hitler Putin wanted war no matter what the others were doing or not.
What contradiction. First you talk about heavy sanctions to stop the conflict as quickly as possible. Then you say "send weapons". Sending weapons only prolong the fighting.
Ukrainian rep was too emotional, but understandably so. International Diplomacy and Geopolitics requires cool heads. Germany should do more. However the only way to stop Putin is by the Russian people themselves.
Prof. Ash thanks for the pep talk. How did you expect Germans to stay without energy???. Of course, you think that you have the right to lecture over moral rights since you do not face the energy supply in your corner. One should consider when USA and EU sanctions Russia, how will suffer most. First of all credibility of reserve currency (US$) since it is being weaponized, Due to short supply of fertilizers there will be short of crop in many countries specifically 3rd world countries. Also, right now many countries are depending on wheat supplies from Ukraine and Russia. Unfortunately, NATO and West has made a big blunder and their action will hurt low income people all around the world. I am sure you all have noticed increased living expenses. Better do not push Ukraine to do proxy war in behalf of war mongers from NATO and West.
Before the eyes of humanity, Russia’s government reputation is very low. There’s no winners in war. My prayers for wisdom to all world leaders. Thank you.

The NeoCons/ Victoria Nuland should never ever of backed the coup against the ELECTED government of Ukraine 8 years ago that started this nightmare off.
I think we as NATO European Union whoever else have to take a heavy hand in this and insist because of our own enforceable defensive measures... that Ukraine submit to concessions and give up previous stated Russian desired land..... required before we give them further assistance...... inviting Russia to call that good.... for the good of all.... and leave in peace... For now because it can always only be for now.... Who knows someday we might have hypersonic missiles also.. but we sure as hell shouldn't overlook this exploding elephant in the room.
first the west educated germany to be very peaceful after ww2, and succeeded, and now the west is frustrated that germany is not war oriented.
Germany os a Nato member and is embarrassing itself. Also it is good at dealing out critizism but very bad at receiving it.
Germany is war oriented.Germany is enthusiastic about funding and arming the Russian slaughter of Ukrainians.
That is a valid point - and a problem we have to fix. And while it is not fast enough, we are all surprised how fast we change.
@@SkyRiver1 Somehow we got used to it that a large scale war between east and west would be fought in Germany. So it felt right to have lots of US nuclear bombs in Germany. I knew the Greens were rational, but they are more rational than I thought!

The NeoCon narratives are winning. The NeoCons are just using Ukraine particularly Nazh AZOV to destabilise Russia at all costs. The NeoCons destroyed the Middle East and will destroy Ukraine.

How about less naive useful idiots.
How about defending Ukraine instead of letting Russian soldiers genocide them?
The elites in the West are not only going to destroy Ukraine but also Europe with thinking.
that's a very reasonable and smart outlook!
Maybe dismantling of Nord Stream 2 will do it, but nobody in Germany want it.
Would be good if this gentleman did speak as eloquently against the Iraq destruction.

You are kinda thick. Garton Ash spoke out about Brexit and ultimately is one person and not the UK incarnated . He is not Brexit Britain. Also the EU is not in the UK but frequently lectures the UK about Scottish and Northern Irish politics. The EU also lectures Switzerland about Swiss political issues. Why don't you get on your bike and peddle into the sea.

I agree with Wolfgang Schmidt, when Timothy Ash talks about Germany winning the respect and admiration of the world he means the countries in NATO which are only a small percentage of the world. Much of the world opposes the Western response to this war but as always, the West pays no attention to them.
The whole world sides with Ukraine maybe not the administrations but the people.

Please note I am not a Putin fan, but why did Europe and nato not insist on implementing the Minsk treaty for the last few years, and now the world would not be in this mess. War is always bad and I do not support Russia invading Ukraine and my heart goes out for all the innocent people suffering in this war.
It should always be the very last option after every channel has been exhausted, after all other options have been used. This is what we expect in 21 century and not fuel war at any opportunity, that we have experienced in the last 60 years. The Ukraine should remain a neutral buffer state and should not be enticed into NATO or into the EU. Nor should it be aligned with Russia of course. The Ukraine should trade with the whole world on its own terms, attract foreign investment and fight its own endemic corruption levels.
Ukraine is souvereign and if it wants to join the EU it should be given the chance. It can be an asset also for EU.

Diplomacy is the solution. Europe and Russia need to negotiate a new security architecture. Wars in Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan have already set the precedent that countries have gotten away with wars aggression. The order established in 1945 failed to stop these kinds of wars.
The panel is too pro war. The war is lost. The NeoCons destroyed the Middle East and will destroy Ukraine.
Excellent panel and discussion. Everything needs to be done to stop this senseless and egoistic war.

Poland has been warning about NS2. Nobody listended.
Is Nord Stream 2 dismantled?
Yes when US attacked Libya I felt guilty when I bought any can of Coke because in this way I was financing the war...
Thank you for having this multi point discussion. The complexity is an obvious aspect, but this is an extremely brutal situation on human being. So we do need an extremely determined actions even beyond current frame work in order to stop it. Otherwise, we will allow this atrocity happening globally and historically. My big regret is that I have overseen many similar situations in the different places on this planet in this several decades.
Western evil
This is simple war. EUROPE must STOP being obedient lapdog of US NATO EXPANSION EAST.
Ukrainians will remember who helped them in their hour of need and who didn’t. The future of Europe may pivot around it. Ukraine and Poland together may one day outweighs Germany in economic heft in Europe.
This is exactly what the French said when they started to bomb Libya (without Germany’s support). The Libyans will remember who helped them and brought them freedom and democracy as well as peace and prosperity! 🇫🇷🤝🇱🇾☝️🇩🇪
Not only Ukraine. The whole world is watching.
So we will beg them to fund us ? Not during the chancellory of Scholz and the reign of Putin. But may become necessary one day if we continue to follow harebrained angloamerican advice.
@@jansix4287 unfortunately the opposite happened and Libyan statehood was destroyed as a result. The outcome of this war is already visible and Ukraine will be destroyed as well.
There is a special military fund of 2 Billions, only for support the Ukraine
Was Greece mentioned in the context of high debt to GDP ratio?
Mmjjm
When it comes to war why are so few people in charge of so many ? Because none of us want the madness of war.
Your point is very very important to the people; and one the politicians do not want ever talked about.
Haki Abazi says the duty of democracy is to not let autocrats and despots rule. I wonder what that means, in practice. Promoting a foreign policy of regime change, invasion to topple dictators or what.
Friends relative from Russia works in airline industry said that instead of ordering parts from EU directly, they now order through other countries like Turkey.
The Ukrainian panelists remarks are riveting and makes the argument that stands in judgement over all other arguments. She’s quite correct fear prevails with western governments.
I don’t think the West is very frightened when they see, what even their lightest weapons can do against the Russian army.
The second speaker was the only speaker worth listening too!
It saddens me that we seem to have lost all unity. Just as Putin predicted. RIP Ukraine. :/
We need to push HARD against Putin.
The war has been going on for 8 bloody years, 14,000 dead BEFORE the invasion. The Russian minority gets constantly shelled particularly by the ruthless NeoNazi group AZOV BATTALION armed by Nato. Nato has been surrounding Russia for decades and using Ukraine particularly Nazh AZOV to destabilise Russia. Russia has been slow to act, America would of acted after 8 hours. The NeoCons/ Victoria Nuland should never ever of backed the coup against the ELECTED government of Ukraine 8 years ago that started this nightmare off. The NeoCons are just using Ukraine. The NeoCons destroyed the Middle East and will end up destroying Ukraine.
Please watch the documentary up on Rumble called UKRAINE ON FIRE to understand how we got here.
You must stop supporting Ukraine.
very interesting debate and panel. very intense and passionate for sure. I truly felt Galina's pain and passion! I really have to say there are so many people with selfish interests. Many countries which are not standing up to do the RIGHT thing. I pray that those countries don't one day get invaded with a brutal war on their doorstep. PEACE
Why she is focused on Germany? the country that after second world war was supposed to di-militarized.
Galina Yanchenko well said well spoken perfect can't be any better god bless you and your country I cannot express my feelings I just can't when will EU and American wakes up you all not so strong so powerful against 1 crazy country (guy)
If you have a solution for europs energy than please provide
Germany is much more industrialised than UK
We destroyed our manufacturing base by letting international finance move our manufacturing base to China.
A Brit advising EU... LOL
Do you know how complicated it is, to restart those nuclear plants? You can not swich then off and on like conventional generators
Thats technical not possible !!!!!
The Problem is not electricity the Problem is gas for heating, cooking and Industry
It takes years and if they switch off the gas right now, where do you suppose they get their energy?
As we speak they have only three nuclear plants in operation. 14 have been decommissioned... Stupid knee-jerk reaction by Angela Merkel...
@@jansix4287 ppl like you is the reason why Europe will go down. No understanding how humans work. No solidarity. This is bad.
W. Schmidt mokes about famous scientist in oekonomic. Sadly he is the key-conseiller of chancler scholz.
Why can't I see the replies? Who says that germany is increasing its dependence on Russian gas?
Galina Yanchenko tells it like it is. How do the Germans expect people to swallow their air of being so relaxed and coolly academic about this. The condescension makes you sick. We are all RESPONSIBLE ultimately VULNERABLE over this.
Well-spoken and it seems Germany quickly needs to swallow its bitter pill.
No, we don’t. Everything is fine.
@@jansix4287 Germany is comming across very, very coldhearted and arrogant which is bad for an export oriented country.
Germany has a guilt syndrome engraved deeply in their psyche, but it's about time to end this BS. Japan managed to overcome their sense of guilt when faced with the reality of a belligerant China. It's about time for Germany to fully wake up..
@@Dirgis-66 Ah, so this is why nobody buys Chinese wares.
More more weapons, that's all they want...
“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe” and, I will add British hypocrisy!
How can be Germany responsibility for the war between Russia federation and Ukraine?
Germany has been putting busssines with Putin over values and refused Ukraine's Nato membership in 2008.
If Ukraine manage to push Russia out, I hope they also take back Crimea.
If...what???
Brit lectures Germany about Europe, Brexit Brit
Britain is still part of Europe or hadn't you noticed ? We always play our part when our neighbours are threatened.
When you're acting like Russia in Ireland
Englanders always had high quality dark humor
Wolfgang Schmidt is making excuses. He has nothing to say about what Germany can or should do.
Timothy was a wonder speaker, he is right.
Stop this woman
Restart the nuclear plants and buy electric vehicles, that would go a long way toward insuring your energy security.
Thats technical not possible!
Thx to Mrs. Yanchenko for her clear words.
Where do you see..... after???
I agreed with Germany
This young , emotional and pretty lady reminds me furiously of the daughter of the ambassador of Irak in Washington some years ago !!! Please stop lying to us, we are not stupid
heartfelt and feeling heartbroken over this war
Russian gas facilities would seem to be a prime target.
and peace, where is peace, because the was dates from 2014, and it is needed to define it. and to define differrent situation, the molvadian situation for instance. Im portuguese, in the 90s ukranians were immigrants in pt, and lots of them did not have passports, because they were from russian stock, it is need to solve that problems, they are not recent.
There seems to be just one sure way to proceed! The supply of weaponry to Ukraine must be increased to the point of enabling the Ukrainians to defeat the orcs!
No. That is not the only way.
Right...just ignore Russia's nuclear options, mini missiles? Too many loose ends here, imho.
The weapons, & ammuniton being recklessly rushed to Ukrainian troops untrained in their use is being destroyed in transit, for the most part, long before it reaches the units in the doomed Donbas pocket, which represents 40,000 to 60,000 of the best equipped, best trained, most experienced troops in all of Ukraine's armed forces.
in your virtual reality

Why not invite Ukraine & Russia to join Nato with security guarantees in place for everyone? The war would stop immediately

Good to finally have a chance to listen to Wolfgang Schmidt, I found him quite convincing!
Hmmm.... Wouldn't say so
I think we as NATO European Union whoever else have to take a heavy hand in this and insist because of our own enforceable defensive measures... that Ukraine submit to concessions and give up previous stated Russian desired land..... required before we give them further assistance...... inviting Russia to call that good.... for the good of all.... and leave in peace... For now because it can always only be for now.... Who knows someday we might have hypersonic missiles also.. but we sure as hell shouldn't overlook this exploding elephant in the room.
I think you’re being optimistic to assume that there’ll be anything or anyone left when this is over.
