Es wäre besser, statt über „unsere Demokratie“ zu reden. eigene Interessen und Perspektiven darzustellen und zu identifizieren. Nur so kann man eine Situation klar beschreiben, anstatt sich selbst als besonders und gut darzustellen.

Ivan Krastev is an amazingly polite man. I have no idea where he gets the politeness to calmly address notions so insane and to try to bring some reality to those characters who have believed in them and who have brought us to the brink of WWIII. Mir gefällt sehr, dass einerseits dieses Ziel offen aufgedeckt und als Gefahr herausgearbeitet wird und andererseits die notwendigen "Korrekturen" bei uns selbst angesprochen werden (ich sehe da Lobbyismus, einseitige Medienberichterstattung etc.). Ihm kann ich sehr viel besser zuhören als ihr - ohne Kritik des eigenen Systems wirken ihre Vorwürfe auf mich naiv.

This is so narrow sided and political conference. None of presenters see a big picture. 1. After WWII European economy grew so much because of cheap abundant Russian commodities. Germany is a powerhouse because of cheap Russian commodities. If Russia turns off gas through Nord Stream I German economy will go to the drain, that will bring all European countries’ economies to the drain as well. EU is a large USA trading partner. US economy will be severe affected as well. All world economy will be severe affected. Russian economy is and will be affected severely, but it already has roads to trade with China and India. Russia, India, China will recover much faster than Europe. 2. Russia produces products of inelastic demand. It will have market to deliver that products because you cannot live without them. Europe on another hand produces products of elastic demand (technology, banking, insurance). They are all replaceable. 3. After EU- Russia divorce EU will have energy from gulf nations. That will be very expensive. That will make EU products not competitive. In conclusion: all countries including EU, Russia, USA, China, India will be severe affected by the war in Ukraine and Russian-EU permanent divorce. But EU is the one will never recover from it.

The first statement is really disgusting. Many Germans are tired of "huge moral standing" and all this shit that others paying the prize for us. There were quite some Germans not able to pay their heating even before the war started. It is not just "jobs". This guy trying to push the country as quickly and deeply as possible into the conflict, tells something about "moral standing" - it is a bad joke. And it is another joke that he wants to tell us how to organize EU. UK just left, they are out.
