This is a small clip from a session I had with Owls where we went over how to deal with fast weapons. Here, we talked about dealing with jabs, especially one-handed jabs.
In Chivalry 2, jabbing can be a very odd mechanic that feels as if it impedes on the back and forth flow of a fight. With its inherit ability to steal initaitve, they can be very frustrating to deal with. But by using tools like blocking, footwork, and the 'Matrix Dodge' we can handle it!

It can get really hard to jab a moving target. The crouched jab vs matrix was great info.

Some special attacks counter jabs because they posture back and you won't land a jab even if you're right next to them
This is dependent on a lot of different factors like what class they are playing and what weapon you're using. But yes, some specials are much better at avoiding jabs than others

Benefit of being on console, you don't even think about jabbing because the input is shite and completely unreliable
That's unfortunate, but it's still important to know how they work so you can properly fight a PC player who spams it

I tend to leave duels when someone's throwing jabs, mostly cos I'm on console
0:40 do you mean that jabs have different speed with different classes? Or you were talking about moving speed?
And what about jabing with 2h weapon or shield, do they have different reach and speed?
I was referring to the movement speed of the classes.
Jabbing with 1H weapons has more reach than 2H weapons. Both are the same speed however if you are holding throwing knives the jab is slightly faster.

I bound the matrix dodge to one button by binding walk backwards and crouch to the same button its a lot faster to activate for me
If it works, it works! Anything that gives you the edge is totally valuable.
