Outstanding. I only spent half an hour being frustrated before finding this video. Why so many people leave out crucial information like that little clip I will never understand. Thank you sir.
I watched this video twice before working on this project and I still had to go back and see it again when I got stuck. This video is a life saver. Thank you!
This video was just the insight I needed! Thank you so much for posting it. The clip was a bit challenging to get out, but I did manage to do it. Since I was just fixing a broken lock, I didn't need to remove the handle. A tip for those trying to get the clip back in without removing the handle or maybe even if you do - insert a 11mm socket into the lock hole while you're pushing the clip back into place. It'll just snap right into position. Thanks again for the video; I wouldn't have been successful without it!
Glad I found this. Should be noted that when the handle is still mounted in the door, the slot where you access that clip faces downward. A little hook tool is your friend it getting it off of there!
Life saver video!!! Thank you. I just spent 3 hours changing the lock cylinder from inside the door. (I thought it to be much easier than taking all this apart). I could do it again in less than an hour, now that I have a real visual of what comes apart and how. That clip does come out very easy once it is understood where it is to pull. It is where that groove is. The cylinder does slide right in once the clip is back in place. Hardest part was getting the clip back in place. It was very tricky and my neck is tweaked from looking at that awkward angle and through one of the fastener holes. Thanks again!
I just spent the last 6 hours trying to replace the cylinder. The metal plate and clip was the biggest issue. This video really helps he understand on how to remove the metal plate. Thank you for sharing.
Oh man, this is why i like the internet! You sir have saved me a big headache trying to take this off! God bless you! God bless youtube! And god bless america!
LIFE SAVER!!!!!! Spent a cotton pic'n hour on that stupid thing. 1:30 into your video I put the phone down, had the lock changed and the door back together within 7 minutes. Thank you kind sir.
Ok I did replace the door lock cylinder on 7/13/2020. Yes is wasn't fun but got it!!! I suggest using a small hook awl. I bought a 4 piece hook and pick set. ULLMAN from Amazon. Took a while but was able to get the hook awl behind and over the C clip. Put a glove on please. Had to pull very hard then came loose. Put a white plastic trash bag in bottom of door because it will drop down there. Then, push out old cylinder from the outside towards inside. You will need to push new cylinder into place firmly, then you can push the C clip straight up, not at an angle. I attached and twisted small gauge safety wire at bottom center. If you drop clip, you can find it. Dont have to remove the wire after. Ugly job but success! Thanks for this awesome video. Note:, you can't remove the door handle without removing the door lock cylinder first. I did Not remove the door handle or the bolt behind the door lock cylinder!!
Watched this video but i still couldn’t get the damn clip off the cylinder. You are right, if you need to remove the handle, the cylinder has to come out first , and I still struggle to get that clip out If this man could show me how to take the whole handle out first ,and then show people this video clip above later , then that is a big help, he only show us after the handle already out .
Is it possible to take door handle off door before removing the lock cylinder? My door handle is still on the door and in seems impossible to get door handle off without first removing lock cylinder
The plastic piece bracket with the the roller cracked and needs to be replaced. Honda doesn't seem to offer this. Any ideas where to get a replacement?
But *HOW* did you remove this.........that is the question??????? The video is on HOW to remove it.....BUT YOU HAVE ALREADY REMOVED IT.........I wanted to know how you get the whole thing out!
I can't even manage to disconnect the vertical rods from the plastic clips on the handle. I keep tugging and wiggling with a screwdriver bit it doesn't budge.... Some plastic component broke from the force I was exerting and it might be a critical component I don't know. What I do know is this is a horrifc job
So I have a question about my 02-04 (05-06) CRV passenger door lock itself that you showed here... So my Drivers Side Door was either replaced at one point, or the door handle was broken and somebody replaced the handle and forgot to swap in the original Door Lock (either way its NOT THE ORIGINAL DRIVERS SIDE KEY LOCK cause it WON'T FIT MY KEY)... But my KEY DOES MATCH up an WORK in the LOCK on the PASSENGER SIDE DOOR! So my question is... Can I swap that Lock over to the DRIVERS SIDE Door? And if so would I have to flip turn it left to right ways (like a wooden Top toy would spin)? Or spin it 180° (like doing a cartwheel on the grass lol) so that the N side of the Lock in it's vertical key slot resting position (12 o'clock position), is now in the S 6 o'clock position, and the former South position is now at the North position for the Passenger Lock to be able to now work on the DRIVERS Side? I know that twisting the key one way or the other will pull the lever, or retract the lever, as well as the metal rods to lifting up the plastic door lock (the physical plastic lock you can pull up with your fingers on the inner door panel just below the glass window 😆), so I don't want to install it only to find out that it possibly might be wrong... The gold metal lock tumblers I noticed are on the top side of the Lock facing N at the 12 o'clock position, but I'm not sure if they can still be at the 6 o'clock position or not because then I'd assume they'd be slid down and open even without a key, causing you to be able to get into the car by just simply inserting a screwdriver 🪛 and freely turning it without even using a key (instead of the typical tumblers keeping lock locked into stationary position and from turning like they're supposed to do). Any suggestion would be of help but It seems as though the lock could be swapped to the DRIVERS SIDE
I’d say it’s possible and it won’t matter if the lock is inverted it won’t unlock the door.. I just am not positive the top end of lock rod will be able to be flipped
That is the big question, I have the same problem, couldn’t get the clip out of the cylinder. The video only show after the handle already out , while we need to get the cylinder out first ( before ) we can get the handle out :( For some reason, I couldn’t find or see the damn clip :( , it is completely hidden inside :(
Once you have the bolts out and the clip off, pull the handle and work the connection point out and pull slightly back on the front of the whole handle. Hopefully that helps
So that's how you do it! Someone tried to break in to my car and messed up my 2005 crv door lock; now the key won't go in easy and I have to jiggle it every time. ☹
it is impossible to get that pin out, it just will not come out. they make it so hard to get to that it will drive you insane, decided I will live with having to open the drivers door from the inside.
Wanted to believe this video was of anymore value than the 10 seconds of “remove the clip at the bottom” but it’s not (no suggestion to how to actually remove it outside of being able to rotate the handle 360° degrees). 4 minute video that could have been 20 seconds...
The funny thing was that lots of people thanking him for his video but I still couldn’t know how to get that damn clip out of the cylinder, and how he and those ( thanking him) people got that clip out successfully ???
Outstanding. I only spent half an hour being frustrated before finding this video. Why so many people leave out crucial information like that little clip I will never understand. Thank you sir.
I watched this video twice before working on this project and I still had to go back and see it again when I got stuck. This video is a life saver. Thank you!
Can I put the clip in before the lock?
I do not remember doing it that way.

Please show us how you remove the handle first from the vehicle
Thanks for the video, my husband was trying to figure out how to remove lock and I found your video. Two min later Im a hero.
I don’t know how this video doesn’t have 100k + views. You just saved me so much time and aggravation.
Glad I found this. Should be noted that when the handle is still mounted in the door, the slot where you access that clip faces downward. A little hook tool is your friend it getting it off of there!

Thank you. Was trying to take the cylinder out. Couldn't figure out why the cylinder didn't come out until I saw your video. Tq again
Oh man, this is why i like the internet! You sir have saved me a big headache trying to take this off!
God bless you! God bless youtube! And god bless america!
You’ve made an outstanding video that has saved people (including me) probably countless hours of frustration. Thank you.
I appreciate you making this video, Man....that clip is a ghost....
Thank you for the video. I knew something was preventing the removal - that bloody hidden clip. That was the ticket. Much appreciated.
LIFE SAVER!!!!!! Spent a cotton pic'n hour on that stupid thing. 1:30 into your video I put the phone down, had the lock changed and the door back together within 7 minutes. Thank you kind sir.
Glad the video helped you, i try to show how to videos without telling my life story first, and just get to the details.
Hatred, you know... This video help me change the lock, I was trying so hard 'til i see this.

Such a big help! THANK YOU!!!
But *HOW* did you remove this.........that is the question???????

Exactly
Alfredo hasn't actually done this obviously.

Once you have the bolts out and the clip off, pull the handle and work the connection point out and pull slightly back on the front of the whole handle. Hopefully that helps
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thanks!!!
This shows how to take it apart you should have done this while it’s in the door still
Thank you so much
So that's how you do it! Someone tried to break in to my car and messed up my 2005 crv door lock; now the key won't go in easy and I have to jiggle it every time. ☹
Thx
Thak you my friend
This is perfect
Also, good to know the Honda dealership can order the dang C clip for the door lock cylinder if you loose or bend yours. $4.25 with tax!
Buen video . Amigo saludos .

Its the drivers outer door handle
That clip is a nightmare. Still can't remove help
Nice one thanks
Tq
To good explain
it is impossible to get that pin out, it just will not come out. they make it so hard to get to that it will drive you insane, decided I will live with having to open the drivers door from the inside.
You never say how to get it out the door to get the clip out side is simple
Gawd this suck so so so bad, doing one yesterday .. kicked my ass so hard
how removed, that front the door, not show how ,out is easy.
Very sorry ,its difficult to show inside the door shell w a camera, just imagine a thin piece of sheet metal , and a little wiggle
What sheet metal?
Wanted to believe this video was of anymore value than the 10 seconds of “remove the clip at the bottom” but it’s not (no suggestion to how to actually remove it outside of being able to rotate the handle 360° degrees). 4 minute video that could have been 20 seconds...
You gonna cry 😢 over a vid ?

So on other words you had such a hard time you didn't record it lol - USELESS
