I just did this to disconnect the handle harness because of a sensor malfunction (car unlocking when within a few feet WITHOUT touching the handle). To disconnect the harness, you don't even need to disconnect the door latch and door lock and window switch harnesses. Just shift the panel over a bit and let it gently hang and all you need is access to the upper corner. I tried to first disconnect the harness from the outside, but there is simply no slack to do so. A word of cation: Do not over tighten the 10mm bolt holding the plastic handle piece in place. Great video. Thanks.
I have the exact same problem. So, disconnecting this harness will disable the faulty smart entry sensor but still allows the door to be opened by pressing the button on the fob?
@@mjddfw Sorry for the late reply. Yes. The FOB will still work on all doors. The only thing that won't work is when a person touches the malfunctioning handle- it will not unlock when the harness is disconnected.
Can’t express how much I appreciate the help. This fixed the battery drain and obviously the unsafe condition of the door unlocking prematurely. Well worth the loss of the handle button and sensor feature.
Took me a little less than an hour to remove the panel, disconnect & tape up the connectors and put the panel back on. Probably can do it in 30-35 minutes now that I know what I am doing. Taped up the connectors so the handle sensor wouldn't flop around. Current draw is now ~30-35 mA. Great video, thanks!
I want to change the door lock cylinder on my 14 crv drivers side. I guess all I need to do is take that one screw out and it comes out correct? No need to take door apart?
I somehow feel the driver door is so thin and flimsy you can practically hear it when you close it with a hollow thud instead of a thick manly thud. Does anyone else feel the same? For a 30K plus 2016 touring I have would have loved some less road noise too.

Doesn't look like it. I looked at this video a few times and it looks like the harness is is attached to the bracket that's fixed inside the door so there's no slack. Removing the inside panel is the biggest hassle and you ALWAYS break clips.

Does the new handle have to be programmed?
Will aftermarket handles without the dongle work? 2015 ex driver's handle needs replacing and this is a hard answer to find.
