  • In this video I show how to do a path model in Mplus. This model includes mediators and multiple endogenous variables.

    Thank you very much for providing video series on MPlus. We are desperately waiting for SEM and MLSEM videos by you as they are in very high demand and MPlus is highly recommended for Multilevel Modeling particularly Multilevel Structural Equation Modeling (MLSEM). We are also interested to know how to treat aggregation in MLM and high order model in SEM. Mediation and Moderation in SEM and MLSEM videos are also requested.

      Hopefully this summer I'll learn more about how to use it, and then I'll make some more videos. I have to teach a class on Mplus this fall, so I had better figure it out...

    Dear James, thank you so much for providing these videos, they are very helpful. I have a question on longitudinal latent data: Would path modelling in form of multiple regression also be the appropriate method for longitudinal data where the predictors and mediators are assessed at T1, whereas the dependent variable is assessed with a time delay and specifically, the dependent variable is formed by daily 1-item assessments during a period of 14 days? Thank you in advance already! Best wishes!

    • @Gaskination

      Yes. Path modeling would work with that data.

      I'm a noob at Mplus and am just learning it myself. I have never done multilevel mediated moderated mediation... If I learn it, I will make a video. This summer I plan to learn it much more, and make several more videos.

    Thank you for sharing this video. I was wondering whether you have any video that would show this path analysis using Mplus but with 1-2 moderators (Moderated mediation) that may affect the relationships between the IVs and the Mediators? Or are you able to recommend the syntax for the moderated mediation path analysis? Thank you very much.

      If you have two moderators, I would still keep these as separate plots. You can include as many indirect moderation lines of code as you'd like. Just copy and paste the first one and then change the variables to account for the other moderator.

    Hi James,
    Congratulations for your helpful videos.
    Do you have any experience with Exploratory SEM using Mplus?
    I am starting using the software, I am not familiarized with commands and I did not find Mplus tutorials and inputs for this analysis.
    Could you help me?
    Thanks a lot.
    Best wishes.

      I'll be learning a lot more about Mplus this summer, but for now I'm still a novice. Here is the manual I'll be using: www.statmodel.com/ugexcerpts.shtml

      Very seriously, if you figure some things out and want to make a video for me to upload to this channel, let me know. If you are worried about video quality, I can remake the video and credit you in the video.

      Also, I am Brazilian, and my English is not good enough to film a tutorial. =)

    • @Gaskination
      @Gaskination  Год назад +1

      I don't know of a way to flag it automatically in the output. You just have to look at the p-values.

      Hi James, thank you! I have another question. In the Model Modification Indice, the ON statements is ENJOYC ON USEFULC. When you type it in the script, it is USEFULC ON ENJOYC. Is this exchange necessary for model modification? Does such exchange also goes to BY statement? Thank you very much!

    Can you help us out understanding what the data says .. how does one report these things ?

    • @Gaskination
      @Gaskination  6 лет назад +1

      Most quantitative journal articles will give you a good example. You should report the beta (regression coefficient - usually standardized is preferred), p-value, confidence intervals (if available), R-squared, and effect size (if available).

    • @fathima9524
      @fathima9524 6 лет назад

      Thx for the reply . Can you explain what the indirect effect numbers are telling me ? Is there anyway I can email you privately ? I just feel abit overwhelmed with understanding the stats .

    • @Gaskination
      @Gaskination  6 лет назад +1

      Indirect effect is the multiplication of two direct paths (from A->B and B->C). This is an indication of mediation. You can email me, but please keep the email concise. I receive a dozen or so similar emails every day and I respond to all within 24 hours.

    Hi James. You mentioned in my previous comment that you want to learn about model comparison (nested modeling) in the measurement model and structural model stages. I have been reading the references below and I thought it might be useful for you. I am still struggling to apply it practically on AMOS :)
    These are the resources:
    1.) A beginning guide to structural equation modeling (BOOK - 3rd edition - pages 111 to 116) by Schumacker and Lomax (2010).
    2.) www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1207/S15328007SEM0701_02
