That whole boost pressure vs manifold pressure thing was fascinating to learn about, it made me decide to start reading and research the difference.
Edit: To the point, I learned that if an ECU controls the wastegate using Boost Pressure, the engine loses power as altitude increases, since its only maintaining pressure over atmospheric which is dropping, and by reading Manifold Pressure, as all modern engines do, it increases the Boost Pressure at higher altitudes, keeping the engine power constant at the cost of increasing turbo lag as you get higher, at least up to a limit where the ECU doesn't allow any more simply due to the turbocharger's rated RPM limits so it doesn't potentially shatter, there's less resistance the compressor has to battle to provide boost since it has to spin faster to get the same boost so the RPM can reach higher and higher until it decides that it doesn't like being in one piece anymore.

@@Wings_of_foam Actually, I did not, that was all my typing. I do tend to go rather long-winded with my comments at times, mostly when I'm either excited, frustrated or rather fascinated at having learned something new XD

I adore this combination, building in Automation is far from perfect, but throw in the compatibility with BeamNG it makes one hell of a sandbox.
Over the years I have sunk waaayyy too much time into this process, I even had an entire manufacturers lineup of cars, trucks and vans running from 1967-2022 with different trim models and generations .

This car looks like it would be a blast to drive. Small, tossable, revvy, and stable at high speed. It's like the automotive version of your artificially stable totally-not-a-Kfir from a month ago. In fact, I'm just rewatching that vid and you make that very comparison at 1:50.
As far this car being the "Sport" trim package of a model line, I see it being in the middle of a 5-package series:
*Zip* - _Bare-bones. Manual everything and a peppy NA 4-cyl, live axle, regular fuel_
*Roadster* - _Like the Zip but soft-top convertible and with mild NA/suspension/aero tune, live axle, regular fuel_
*GT* - _luxury interior, hard-top convertible, auto transmission option, turbo, engine/suspension/gas tank tuned for longer range, more safety eqpt, limited slip diff, premium fuel_
*Sport* - _(the one you made in this vid)_
*Corsa* - _aero, upgraded cooling, vented discs, cam/ignition/turbo tweaks, lighter panels (aluminium or carbon (in the front if possible to offset nose-heaviness)), limited slip diff, premium fuel_

Looks pretty good to be your first car! I suggest moving the interior cam to the correct side, as well as lessening the window tint with the advanced trim settings tab (cog wheel when painting or adding trim) You can modify a lot of stuff with it, so make sure to experiment.
Also, bring out the wheels so they have a more snug fitment under the wide wheel arches, using the tires and wheels tab. Magnesium rims might be a bit too expensive too, unless its a super limited trim of the car.
Other details: add branding (model name, trim), use decal patches (steam workshop mod) to perhaps add a 2-tone livery and revise suspension settings to lessen low-speed oversteer. Other ideas might be a de-tuned 4 speed automatic USDM model, base model naturally aspirated inline 4 trim, or work on detailing (look up pictures of real cars during that period, and the best automation builds)
Long post, but all of this will help you, feel free to join Automations and BeamNGs discord servers, plenty of helpful people there
Download every mod under the sun, they will be used at some point. Worth mentioning: Modular Headlights, interior pieces, rim packages, white wall tires, engine bay models, badges and branding, exhausts and aero, just to name a few.
Btw, theres an option to set the material, light colour and function of your lights when you click on them, you will see numbers on the corner of their picture. Set the front headlights to that, or as running lights. Currently its set at tail lights (not the same as brake lights)
I still do that from time to time, despite having over 7 brands since I started playing, more than 300 hours ago!

  • @gameboyterrorysta6307
    @gameboyterrorysta6307 10 месяцев назад +2

For once I get to be more knowledgeable about stuff in Messier's video XD.
    1) Front heavy weight distribution causes natural understeer, not oversteer. Force generated by tire isn't linear with load applied to it, which causes "heavier" end of the car to wash out in corner due to innertia increasing faster than lateral tire force.
    2) From what I can guess in the video, you don't have problem with oversteer but with rear tires being unable to put power down. It could be fixed by increasing rear tire width, slightly improved by reducing stiffness of the rear suspension (both normal and lateral - sway bars). Other way to limit rear stepping out under power is increasing differential's locking % under power, which you can only do in Beam - either by file editing or equipping car with adjustable race lsd.
    3) Fixtures are your main tool in getting car to look right. Usually to get shape you want, you need to stack multiple fixtures on top of each other and play with layers.
    4) When chosing material for a fixture in fixture tab there's an little icon with the lightulb on it. That's where you set up lights. I guess that your headlight was from "taillight" tab, which means you have to switch it from "brake/taillight" to "headlight" manually.

Hey, M82! I got a wacky plane idea: A twin fuselage triplane, forward swept variable sweep wings, 2 sets of canards, one in front of the other with a T tail combined with a normal tail. For propulsion you could use the weird combo of a very weak jet engine and a very powerful turboprop on each fuselage. I would love to see this monstrosity in flyout. Love your vids!

6:50 Being front heavy doesn't cause oversteer, it just means you can't put down the power as intensely so you're more likely to powerslide. When you're off throttle or braking, you're actually going to be understeering more. Rear heavy cars have no grip in the front on the gas and all of it in the front on the brakes, causing you to oversteer into a corner, until you get back on the power to understeer out.

Heyo! ^v^ This was a fun little video, and a nice change of pace from flyout. I wouldn't mind seeing more automation in the future.
I have a video idea for Automation, if that's alright. My dad's favorite car is the Mustang, and one of his favorite planes is the P-51 Mustang. I asked him why, and he said he really liked the engine noise.
So my idea is this: Make a car that uses the (Packard V-1650) Merlin engine, or at least as close to it as you can get (since you'll probably have to make it yourself). I think that would be fun, and might make for a interesting/funny car.
And you could do the inverse in flyout if you wanted. ; )
