+3hutp For me, it doesn't make sense to deal with crazy mthfcks like Walt and Jesse when Gale's product it's almost as good and the loss of money would not be that much if Gale continued alone again.
Exactly. After they killed Gale, soon Gus only had Jesse, who could cook the same quality of product as Gale, only much less reliable. Actually, I don't think 3% makes such a difference in terms of sales. In the final episode Skinny Pete says 'the product is as good as ever' and they thought it was Walt's. I think Gus's first impression about Walt was completely right. Walt promised him he wouldn't even hear about Jesse, and then after a few cooks he demanded Gale to be replaced by him. This proves Walt's unreliability. At this point I'd have given Walt an ultimatum in Gus's place: keep cooking with reliable, trustworthy Gale or leave. Poor Gale, he was signing his death sentence by convincing Gus to employ Walt.
Kwaj Besides, we know that after the tension between Walt and Gus emerges (in a rather short time), Gus has to do with Jesse's 96% pure meth, which would've been the same as Gale's, only, in the case of Gale he wouldn't have to watch his back all the time and could go on cooking forever. I'm really sorry for Gale. He should've met Walt at the very beginning, when he was not the violent asshole he had become by this point. He should've paired up with him instead of Jesse.
Gus is clearly not cautious all the time. He actually is a lot like Walt. He takes big risks for big rewards (for example, the huge risk he took poisoning the cartel). Walt is one of the big risks, and he puts up with him for a big reward (extremely pure, "perfect" product). Further examples of such risks are his frequent visits to Hector, who could easily set him up (which he eventually does...).

+Buck Futter I thought it's more about Walt wanting his business partner on board, so he can eventually take over Gus's empire which of course is what happens
I love how this was all written it’s so well thought out .. Gus fring is a disciplined business man who always knew what he wanted and what it takes to get there .. is comfortable with his status.. he had what it takes to create a long lasting solid system which will then function like clockwork... Walter white on the other hand wanted to be like Gus fring, admired him and maybe even envious of his.. he wanted to be like this but didn’t have what it takes to build an empire.. he walked off in the early years of building their company grey matter because he felt like he didn’t belong with rich people .... now again, he is sabotaging himself because he isn’t comfortable with Gale.. someone less troublesome more suitable for a calm long lasting smooth path for the entire situation... This was all so well written and well thought out ! Even the psychology of them all Vince is brilliant
this was after hank beat up jesse, and jesse wanted to press charges and keep cooking, and if he ever gets caught he's gonna use walt as a bargaining chip to get out of jail, so to avoid him pressing charges against hank, and not getting caught and then ratting him out, walt intentionally starts scolding gale for things like temperature of some machine, even tho gale put the standard temperature they always put, but walt only did it to give justification why he was sacking gale
Wow this op didn't get the show, Walt only wanted to become like Gus after Walter killed him. At this point of the series Walter fully respects Gus and is fine working under him w/o even complaining about how much Gus is earning compare to him. Reason why Walter had to fire Gale is because of whatever Jesse said in prior to this episode. Its not as deep as you expect by analyzing each character and what they'll do, things just happens by characters doing actions in the situation they are in, not what personality they have.
I never understood why wouldn't Gus let all three of them work together, he needed Gale to learn the formula just in case, and Jesse was getting half of Walt's payment anyway so he's not losing anything, also three of them can cover up for each other when one of them can't work.
Man, just imagine how the show would went, with Walt and Gale cooking, Mike managing the distribution, Gus running things, cartel out of the way and of course, Saul helping them legally... How could it go so wrong
imagine an au where instead of replacing gale, they became a three man team and we got to see jesse and gale interact a lot more god that would’ve been so fun
Well, let's recall that Gus did take the first possible opportunity to push Jesse towards doing something stupid. Once he knew Jesse had an issue with the gangs using kids, he likely ordered that the two other dealers kill Thomas in order to set Jesse off and get himself killed, offering Gale a convenient way to get his job back. Gus never wanted Jesse long term.
My roommate in college was similar to Gale, he was an amazing engineer. But he sucked ass with human interaction. He came home one day pissed the fucked off that he got fired

Walter wanted a subordinate, not a partner. He wanted someone to follow his orders, not work with someone who is his equal. At least, that's the vibe I got from this scene. Plus, he wants to mold Jesse to take his position when he's gone.
I remember seeing this as Walt actually preferring Gale over Jesse as a co-worker but needing to get rid of him because he figured that, unlike Jesse, Gale could actually take his place and thus sign his death warrant. So it's a love tragically sundered by the powers that be :).
@@austinboylan5476 what? Jessie could never replace him. Jessie's basically unskilled labor, he doesn't even have basic knowledge in chemistry. If some problem ever comes up in manufacturing (like, a need for formula mods bc of shortages), if it's for Jessie cooking would stop.
@@A4Gaming No it wasnt that he didn't care about Hank at all and he was ok with Gale until he saw that he had everything in control which it was the thing that was pissing him.

"It's all like shiny up in here!"
That snap he does before he says “Jazz” gets me every time 😂
He actually snaps before he says "jazz".
@@TaxingIsThieving actually, he snaps before he says jazz
@@IamSuperEffective both wrong, Walt snaps actually before _he_ says jazz.
Even the psychology of them all
Vince is brilliant
this was after hank beat up jesse, and jesse wanted to press charges and keep cooking, and if he ever gets caught he's gonna use walt as a bargaining chip to get out of jail, so to avoid him pressing charges against hank, and not getting caught and then ratting him out, walt intentionally starts scolding gale for things like temperature of some machine, even tho gale put the standard temperature they always put, but walt only did it to give justification why he was sacking gale
The timing of Jessie's entrance is impeccable
that break up was so bad you could call it breaking bad.
someone make a fake trailer for a breaking bad rom-com with walt and gale
I'm on it 🙂
yeah he was clearly in love with walt
Alan Rar
hows it going?
How is it going?
Guess he isn’t on it...
I died when Jessie entered and said “this is the bomb” with his beat up face 🤣🤣🤣
Walter is Classical
Gale is jazz
Jesse is RAP
Gale - Jazz
White - Classical
Jessie - Rock
zzzhuh Todd - Some Disgusting Dubstep
+Elliott Booth meth damon
Jessie - Deathcore
zzzhuh jesse was rap cuz he acted like a gangster BITCH
Jesse is all about rap my man
I never understood why wouldn't Gus let all three of them work together, he needed Gale to learn the formula just in case, and Jesse was getting half of Walt's payment anyway so he's not losing anything, also three of them can cover up for each other when one of them can't work.
Man, just imagine how the show would went, with Walt and Gale cooking, Mike managing the distribution, Gus running things, cartel out of the way and of course, Saul helping them legally...
How could it go so wrong
Gus planned to have Walt replaced with Gale by killing him so that would end the show early
@@samplesimple0 Don't think so.. he would just pay him and his family and Walt would die of cancer anyway
@@samplesimple0 that was after he killed those gangbangers

Walt loves people to lord over, he would be miserable around someone as equally competent as Gale
Gale was not Walt's equal. Even Gale knew that.

@@jplegend98 Yes but for our purposes, 96% will do

This is like a break up
I like how he snaps his fingers when he says Jazz.
I like that Gale wasn’t taking any shit. He demanded and pressed for an answer because he knows Walt was full of crap.
imagine an au where instead of replacing gale, they became a three man team and we got to see jesse and gale interact a lot more
god that would’ve been so fun
As much as I love Jesse this was really hard to watch xd.
its all shinny up in here hahahah
I honestly can't believe Gus even went with this.
God I felt so bad for Gale in this scene. Imagine having a degree in science and getting replaced by some junky
My roommate in college was similar to Gale, he was an amazing engineer. But he sucked ass with human interaction. He came home one day pissed the fucked off that he got fired
"When your crush in middleschool explain how "our personalities are too different", before picking a guy 2 inches taller than you she has nothing in common with"
When your bf dumps you for his trashy ass ex and you're like ??????
They are both trying desperately to avoid the obvious pun centered on the word "chemistry".
Is it true that Walter replaced him because to help Hank
Gennifer Hutchinson wrote this line and episode 💜🙏 love her, she is a master at quirky dialogue!
“I require…” “Classical..?” (Hip hop enters)
Jesse, a man who is a dichotomy to the word "classical" walks in at the perfect moment saying "Man, this is the bomb" and his swollen face makes it even better lol.
The best part is when Gale stands there shocked and says "This is my replacement?"
You could have saved space and face by using "dichotomous" and not using "lol"
Better than looking like a pedant.

RUclips algorithm taking me back to a scene/episode/series/show I wanna see again and again. Well played 👏
Walter wanted a subordinate, not a partner. He wanted someone to follow his orders, not work with someone who is his equal. At least, that's the vibe I got from this scene. Plus, he wants to mold Jesse to take his position when he's gone.
Last conversation before divorce, and then, the new young lady walks into the room.
Gale was as good a chemist as Walt and he didn't like that. He liked having Jesse around to be better than at everything
I remember seeing this as Walt actually preferring Gale over Jesse as a co-worker but needing to get rid of him because he figured that, unlike Jesse, Gale could actually take his place and thus sign his death warrant. So it's a love tragically sundered by the powers that be :).
Except Jesse later can replace him....
No, it was to drop Jessie from filing a case against Hank.
@@austinboylan5476 Yeah, later. And Jesse is way less reliable. Gale is an obvious to-the-rule type of guy
Walt just did not want to work with someone near his level. He just had to be "the man" and that meant bringing in Jesse, who he viewed as dumb and subservient.
Not true, he brought Jesse in because Jesse threatened to keep cooking on his own which would've led to him getting killed by Gus. I hate it when people try to twist anything Walt does into the "ultimate super since forever evil plan" it's really annoying. Yes the man did evil things, but it's not all black and white.
@@theonlygoodlookinghabsburg2081 or maybe, just maybe, it's a combination of both
@@tezz2698 I disagree. Walt only decided to try switching Jesse with Gale after the former became a nuisance and threatened to cook on his own.
The way Jesse enters after they are talking about Jazz and Classical is cinematography genius 😂
And his face is so swollen he looks like fuckin E.T. Extraterrestrial
MAN THIS IS DA BOMB! LOL
Walt prefers working with jesse because he can actually teach him stuff
LMAO I couldn’t contain my laughter when Jesse comes in with his puffed eye. 😂

"you're more jazz."
Heisenburg firing Gale for being gay.
I cracked up when I first saw this. To Jesse, the lab might as well be Disney World!

Walters face after explaining why Gale’s being replaced, I always crack up laughing, “it’s all shiny up in here”
I love the little clicks that go with Jazz

What is a shame is that in a different set of circumstances Gail and Walt probably would have gotten along very well.
