Melaka is a special place with a lot of history and culture. I enjoyed my stay when I visited. I laughed hard seeing your face when you ate the durian puff. Good you tried it again. I don't like durian either and I tried it a few times. Congrats on 31K+ subscribers, well deserved. I know yr channel will grow big and quickly. Take care, Ken.
Congrats. 100 episodes on Malaysia. I'm surprised that u haven't tried durians until this ep., when just about every foreigner was in on the act. As soon as you get past the strong aroma of the durian, u will savour the pleasure of eating the fruit. Whatever, stay safe while you ride out the pandemic. Thumbs up👍👍& fists pump🤜🤛Cheers.
Fresh durian always taste better. Should try in the durian farm someday. Ketuk is tap in English. The candy suppose to be rock hard not chewy. It is a very traditional candy in Malaysia. Now days very hard to see. Melaka food is spicy, so be prepare to experience a whole new taste.
This time the CMCO is more relaxed. Shops are still allowed to open. Only that you cannot travel inter-district or inter-state. You will still have much to do and film
@@KenAbroad No I don't think so. You cannot cross districts within the state. If the kampungs are in the same district it is fine. If they are in different districts then you will not be able to go. Every state has its own districts. Melaka has 3. I believe you are in Central Melaka district now where the city centre is located.
Hi Ken...good news. This morning news in The Star...one of our local newspapers. The Melaka state govt is seeking to get approval for inter-district travel from the Federal govt. So look out for that.
Brave that you went all out.. another few tries and you might be hooked on Durians.. / gosh.. Jonker street looks sooooo dead without all their Singaporean friends 😅
Welcome to my Hometown. Would love to meet up with you in Malacca. I believe I have watched all 100 Malaysia vlog of yours. Hope you still have a great experience in Malacca.
Malacca is the best states to stay in Malaysia . It is quiet and has a lot of history. When you are there, you should try it’s famous chicken rice ball.
Ken, the candy is more kinda like toffee. The durian puff using Musang King is delicious. If you want to try durian, maybe you might want to start with the type that is not as pungent as Musang King. The kampung durian is milder. In East Malaysia, there are different kinds of durians available including one that taste kinda like peanut butter. Stay safe and hope to see your next videos! Hi to Greg and Jumi!
Wow the who trows the coconuts in the aire that was a Nice show i like it that was verry Nice and the yummie Chinese burger.the face that you make when you eat the candy was funny IT was verry hard the candy😮and sticky
This is really an epic story for Ken. 😀😀😀 When the first MCO started in Malaysia, Ken was in Malacca and rushed to KL for better adventure in KL. Now, when CMCO started in most states in Malaysia, he went back in to Malacca and will be staying there.
Hello Ken. I watched you from the very 1st vlog... All of them are interesting. Keep making these vlog....stay safe Ketok means to pound or hammering....hammered sweet literally means gula ketok
Welcome back to my hometown😉 Finally Ken tried the durian in a form of a puff. ( Better then not being able to taste the whole durian) Thailand durian is very different. I love how Greg, Jumi, Ivana & Steve enjoyed their durians.
@@suet5351 I wish I could. No doubt it's my hometown, but three quarters of my life is not in Malaysia. I really don't know much about Malaysia, I'm ashamed to say that, that's why I love watching vlogs by Kenabroad, Travelgamers, Jetlag Warriors, Food & Foodprints and some others to know more through them.😝maybe I'll try to ask my Malacca relatives about rare places. Hi Ken. I think its fair to say that you have mastered seafood and since Melaka is very close to the sea I have a recommendation for you. You should definately make a video at Monterio's Portuguese Seafood Restaurant in the Portuguese Settlement. Trust me you wont be getting better seafood than that. i should know because i know so many people who live in KL who would travel there just for the food. And what makes it special is that its seafood with a portuguese/local influence that you wont be able to get anywhere else in Malaysia. If you do make a video there be sure to try their salted egg dish with seafood of your choice. Also try the portuguese baked fish and their fried eggplant (2 seperate dishes). One more thing you absolutely must try is their mango juice. Trust me its different from other mango juices. Anyway stay healthy, stay positive and looking forward to that video. Ciao..lol..but sincerely stay safe and we will all get through this together. Cheers buddy
That grown up girl you see knocking (ketuk) the gula (candy), used to run around Mlaka town with a tray of fruits or Nyonya kuih at night with her lil sister, going from 1 table to the other, making ends meet! They were around 5-8 years old if I'm not mistaken, every single night earning their lil income and their father was the 1 who started this "Gula Ketuk" business on the back of his bicycle, parked at the corner of the garbage area downstairs the flats I grew up in! It was kinda like my alarm clock to me (pretty annoying), whenever I hear him "tock tock thng", hoping soon he will stop knocking! 😅 And now, Ken has shared it over here in his video. The history behind this "gula ketuk"! 😁
CMCO is just like normal MCO. If you're having difficulty to explore Malacca during CMCO. May I suggest you to make video on trying food from Malacca by ordering from grabfood and food panda. Then, you can share with Greg & Jumi. U guys can taste and discuss about it in the video.
Hmm... How about give a test drive on the local cars, particularly proton x50? Noticed some automobile vloggers make Melaka recently as their film location for their test drive.
durian is like wine. first taste may feel vomiting... second trial may think acceptable.. third try will think it's actually quite nice and magic happens always after third try... becos 4th try you will definitely LOVE it and once you back German.. you miss it badly.. it's tell you wats is true love
@@KenAbroad you scared him😂😂 Fyi, behind the place you standing at 18:00, there is a stall selling cendol at day time, you can give it a try, they have many flavour, normally i will order original flavor.
Ken every time you came to Malacca the cmco is enforced .. 😂 ..anyway .. just take it positively .. i suggest you contact the Malacca Tourism office .. discuss with them on what you and they can do together to help promote Malacca in times of this 2nd cmco ... congratulations on reaching 31k subscribers ... it was only about 8 months ago that the number of subscribers to your channel were only 1k ++ .. if i am not mistaken... your channel have grown very fast .. I am so happy for you .. congratulations again .. take care .. stay healthy and stay positive always 🥳🥳🥳
hi Ken, So far Melaka isn't that badly affected, but there won't be much tourism trips allowing you to film. However, I think you can still walk around for food as businesses are allowed to open, but maybe will close earlier than usual to demotivate people from gathering outside after work. I am now working 2 days from home and 2 days at the office within my district only, and forced to take a day off (since MCO) because the wages has been cut. But that being said, it isn't that bad except less entertaining, but I am pretty sure you can still travel alone and 2 more travel mates for food because bigger tables in restaurants / shops can allow 3-4 people to dine in, although they recommend you to have take aways. It's just going to be 4 weeks limited travelling, and if we follow SOP we can curb this epidemic. Just be a little more careful if you travel pass Negeri Sembilan later after CMCO because the infection rate is much higher. In Selangor, certain places are rising, while my district was one of the worst hit before now has lesser new cases and we are just persevering and waiting for those who are infected to recover quickly with clean bill of health. Stay safe and stay healthy Ken! Do keep vlogging, or maybe do live vids so that we are can keep you company. I am sure many #teamabroad family members would love that.
Don't forget to visit Kampung Morten (Morten Village). Don't need a grab, just walk along the river & explore everything in there. U also can visit Villa Sentosa (the malay living museum): free entrance. U also can try malay foods nearby, such as kampung morten special nasi lemak, makan2 avenue and many more.
cmco is less strict than the mco.. we here in klang Valley already had cmco earlier.. life goes on as usual but our movement is not as usual bcoz there are many road blocks & no cross district is permitted without permission from police..
This candy is called ding ding tong/ding ding candy/tiok tiok tong, it originated in Guangdong & Hong Kong & later became available in Malaysia. It's traditionally made of maltose, sesame, ginger. Nowadays there are a lot more varieties available: coconut, mint, chocolate, mango, purple yam, strawberry en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deuk_Deuk_Tong The green stuff that the guy used in the Thai ice cream is pandan extract. The flavour is very artificial and is consists of mainly artificial flavouring & coloring. Real pandan from pandan leaves tastes very different & has paler colour.
Maybe you can take the opportunity to try different durian variety like Musa King and D24 during your CMCO. Maybe you will be converted. Steve from Jetlag Warriors was converted. Even better try different Malaysian fruits like mangosteen rambutan and longan from the grocery stores during your CMCO. Try take some videos for the taste tests. Maybe your fans will like it. They taste good. Trust me.
Century up! Well done. I think I watched almost all of them. My favourite ... hmmm hard to pick. Perhaps the Thai border because that was how I found the channel. And you meet some cool people, as always, in that one.
this used to be like a chinese night market but after the MCO, this place is like a empty lane. but good now, more stall is coming back especially with their malay stall joining in...
Now that you have tried durian puffs and can tolerate the durian, the next challenge should be trying Malaysian durian (it is different from Thai durian and very creamy). 😀
Hopefully after this new CMCO, you'll get to visit the other half of Malaysia - Sabah & Sarawak. Sarawak alone is as large as the whole Malaysia Peninsular.

It's very timely that u got d chance to visit d Jonker street open market. U love d open markets in Malaysia.
What was your reaction to the announcement of the new CMCO?
My reaction was 😒. I had expected it somewhat. Stay safe Ken. I love Malacca so looking forward to the video.
I was so sad about this😔
I'm malacca myself hopefully you enjoy yourself in the heritage unesco city here in melaka 😊, I believe mco will work better than cmco because people are still going out to anywhere except interstate traveling
Sad but nothing i can do
just enjoy the life & live because my planning travel to few city in malaysia... bbooommmbbbb!! Doommeedd demolished
Wow, episode 100 back to where you began... you have come a long way since then...
😂🤣😂laughing out when I heard the candy was even harder to break than his attempt at getting the seafood..so nice Greg and JoMae following along too and Greg searching Google to complement and make complete this vlog.. great job Ken...yes I already know this is your second vlog at Jonker Street and the sugar cane juice scene was your first experience in Malaysia
So entertaining to watch Greg's and Ken's opposite reaction having the durian puff..thanks Greg and JoMae introducing and getting durian puff sharing it on this channel.
Ah yeah the sugarcane stall, didnt found it this time there 🤔
Haha we figured it would be the perfect chance for Ken to have some durian
Melaka is a special place with a lot of history and culture. I enjoyed my stay when I visited. I laughed hard seeing your face when you ate the durian puff. Good you tried it again. I don't like durian either and I tried it a few times. Congrats on 31K+ subscribers, well deserved. I know yr channel will grow big and quickly. Take care, Ken.
Thank you 😊
I miss jonker street so much..used to live around there for 6 years. I love malacca!!
Wow with Jumi and Greg,......!
Tries it before in Thailand and made so bad experience that I haven't tried it again until now 😂
Gula ketuk ( sweet candy ) actually is maltose
Gula = sugar , Ketuk = Tap
The coconut show is fantastic🤩🤩🤩
I watched all you video, all of your videos is my favourite, all of em. Keep doing what you doing Ken 😊
Thank you 😊
Fresh durian always taste better. Should try in the durian farm someday. Ketuk is tap in English. The candy suppose to be rock hard not chewy. It is a very traditional candy in Malaysia. Now days very hard to see. Melaka food is spicy, so be prepare to experience a whole new taste.
Durian will grow on you, Ken!
YESSSS, if y'all in Klang Valley with Ken, durian on me HAHAHAHAHA
@@suet5351 Thank you!! Hope we can get back to Klang Valley before New Years 🤞
@@FoodandFootprints yesss but stay safe and have fun while you guys are at Malacca 😁
Its not durian season so probably cant really get any fresh durian for now.
I'm ready to try more 😎😄
Melaka is surely an interesting place to stay...wish i can move to melacca esp Pengkalan Balak is my fav place..near the beach..
This is an emotional video indeed...
The show is amazing🤩your vlog always the best🍔keep it up stay safe🌺🌺
Thank you 😊 stay safe too
Congrats Ken Abroad on reaching 31Thousands subscribers!!!👍🙋
Thank you 😊
This time the CMCO is more relaxed. Shops are still allowed to open. Only that you cannot travel inter-district or inter-state. You will still have much to do and film
Can I travel around malaka state? Going to kampungs etc?
@@KenAbroad
No I don't think so.
gosh.. Jonker street looks sooooo dead without all their Singaporean friends 😅
...and Selangoreans too! 😅
Welcome to my Hometown. Would love to meet up with you in Malacca. I believe I have watched all 100 Malaysia vlog of yours. Hope you still have a great experience in Malacca.
Yeah looking forward to explore malaka to the fullest 😊
Wow history repeat again but this time you’re back to malacca with something new perspective
Ken - tourism ambassador of Malaysia
Comparing your face with Greg while eating the durian... Hehehe
Haha 😄😄
Malacca is the best states to stay in Malaysia . It is quiet and has a lot of history. When you are there, you should try it’s famous chicken rice ball.
Be happy and stay safe! Try breakfast at Roti canai kayu arang👍
Take care😍
Yeah. It is in my kampung.. 😊😍
Welcome to my state Malacca...Jonker Street Night Market..super sedaap 😄😋
Greg and Jumi are great eaters. They can eat almost anything.
Looking forward to watching
Wow the who trows the coconuts in the aire that was a Nice show i like it that was verry Nice and the yummie Chinese burger.the face that you make when you eat the candy was funny IT was verry hard the candy😮and sticky
The Jonker Street looks quite empty as compared to two months ago but it is the best time to see everything at the night market.
This is really an epic story for Ken. 😀😀😀
When the first MCO started in Malaysia, Ken was in Malacca and rushed to KL for better adventure in KL.
Now, when CMCO started in most states in Malaysia, he went back in to Malacca and will be staying there.
Yeah 😱😅
Hello Ken.
I watched you from the very 1st vlog...
All of them are interesting. Keep making these vlog....stay safe
Ketok means to pound or hammering....hammered sweet literally means gula ketok
Thanks a lot 😊
Welcome back to my hometown😉 Finally Ken tried the durian in a form of a puff. ( Better then not being able to taste the whole durian) Thailand durian is very different. I love how Greg, Jumi, Ivana & Steve enjoyed their durians.
Kellie!!! It's your time to shine!!! Please intro some hidden gems to Ken! Places locals like to go and things not common to the normal tourist!!!
Oh yeah would love to get some hidden gem recommendations about local places away from the tourist center 😊
@@suet5351 I wish I could. No doubt it's my hometown, but three quarters of my life is not in Malaysia.
Cool, thanks for the ideas 👍😊

That gula ketuk was...interesting 😂
It's used to be yesteryear candy b4 the 80's. It was forgotten and reintroduce back ~ mid 2000😊
It's one of my childhood fav. I was pleasantly surprised when I found this sweet in d street of New Delhi, in front of d Red Fort.
@@HBTan1969 Aahhh the yesteryear, alright! 😁👍🏻
@@joycetan4684 Sometimes, behind every sweet, there r bitter stories, left untold. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome back to melaka ken 👍🏻😀
CMCO is just like normal MCO. If you're having difficulty to explore Malacca during CMCO. May I suggest you to make video on trying food from Malacca by ordering from grabfood and food panda. Then, you can share with Greg & Jumi. U guys can taste and discuss about it in the video.
Thanks for the idea 😊
Hmm... How about give a test drive on the local cars, particularly proton x50? Noticed some automobile vloggers make Melaka recently as their film location for their test drive.
Good to see you in Melaka😊 i'm from Melaka😁
The Chinese burger is really nice, glad that you tried it! I missed it so much as its hard to find any of these Chinese burger stalls around now
Take care both of you
durian is like wine. first taste may feel vomiting... second trial may think acceptable.. third try will think it's actually quite nice and magic happens always after third try... becos 4th try you will definitely LOVE it and once you back German.. you miss it badly.. it's tell you wats is true love
i like travel in melaka too,u must try cendol hulu melaka, the price not too expensive
All good but deepavali is coming u should try some murukku ladoo halwa palgoa and other Indian sneaks and kuihs bro.
Welcome to Melaka, I watch the guy perform throwing coconut so many times, it's 1st time i see he fail to catch the coconut😅
Haha I was surprised too that he didnt catch it 😱😅
@@KenAbroad you scared him😂😂
Fyi, behind the place you standing at 18:00, there is a stall selling cendol at day time, you can give it a try, they have many flavour, normally i will order original flavor.
Sounds good 👍
Ken every time you came to Malacca the cmco is enforced ..
Yeah I shouldn't come back to malacca haha 😄
Yeah growing really nice in the past months 😊 thanks a lot 👍
hi Ken,
So far Melaka isn't that badly affected, but there won't be much tourism trips allowing you to film.
I have been to melaka and the night market sad that most of the shops are closed.
Congrats ken. U now famous youtuber at Malaysia. #TeamAbroad
Hehe terima kasih 😊
If still at Melaka, you can try North Indian food at Melaka Raya. "D tandoori house" . Try their Masala Prawn. Yummy! Yummy!
Sounds good 👍😊
Don't forget to visit Kampung Morten (Morten Village). Don't need a grab, just walk along the river & explore everything in there. U also can visit Villa Sentosa (the malay living museum): free entrance. U also can try malay foods nearby, such as kampung morten special nasi lemak, makan2 avenue and many more.
thanks for the recommendations
cmco is less strict than the mco.. we here in klang Valley already had cmco earlier.. life goes on as usual but our movement is not as usual bcoz there are many road blocks & no cross district is permitted without permission from police..
All 100!! And I make sure I have food/snacks within reach coz I get hungry whenever I watch your videos ken🤣
Nice 💪😅
This candy is called ding ding tong/ding ding candy/tiok tiok tong, it originated in Guangdong & Hong Kong & later became available in Malaysia. It's traditionally made of maltose, sesame, ginger. Nowadays there are a lot more varieties available: coconut, mint, chocolate, mango, purple yam, strawberry en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deuk_Deuk_Tong
The green stuff that the guy used in the Thai ice cream is pandan extract.
Trust me.
Good ideas 👍
Ken good experience for you
Century up! Well done. I think I watched almost all of them. My favourite ... hmmm hard to pick. Perhaps the Thai border because that was how I found the channel. And you meet some cool people, as always, in that one.

"Hang tuah" really exist in Malacca 🤣
Hai ken. I love to bring you around but with this cmco, its cant. I hope you enjoy melaka. Stay positive and test negative.

this used to be like a chinese night market but after the MCO, this place is like a empty lane. but good now, more stall is coming back especially with their malay stall joining in...
Welcome to Melaka bro,stay safe
Go to the Indian Street during the coming Deepavali for their festive delicacies at Jalan Bendahara
What day is that starting?
Introduction was amazing 😂
Yeah that guy was fun with his show 💪😄
Now that you have tried durian puffs and can tolerate the durian, the next challenge should be trying Malaysian durian (it is different from Thai durian and very creamy). 😀
I was there, wondering around, dinner, little bit late, found original gula melaka
ken...you are still in healthy week... 😁😁😁
Ketuk is hit, knock
Hopefully after this new CMCO, you'll get to visit the other half of Malaysia - Sabah & Sarawak.
Sarawak alone is as large as the whole Malaysia Peninsular.
