-As mentioned in the video overall size.
-Size of the bed is smaller
    -Purple panels on the base
-Foot entrance matches blue base, no longer grey.
-Matte light bluish grey instead of grey on dome.
-Red pieces instead of the more orange original pieces such as bed, hinges and spike cannons.
-Hinges are now this matte bluish grey instead of orange.
    -Raised turret to accommodate Be-Bop.
    -Missing some stickers.
-Possible bridge connection points being a closed for peg points.

So one thing, you are comparing images of the new release vs the vintage packaging image. The image from the vintage packaging is not what you got in the box. If you compare to in hand product images you get a very different picture. Scaling wise it almost looks identical. If anything it looks like the circumference of the ball might be a hair smaller, but it's hard to gauge due to the new clips that have been added in. On mine I can tell you that everything looks the same size. Bebop and rocksteady never really fit in those seats, though I do remember shredder fitting a bit better.

@@Rocket1377 I had the original too. it was the first toy I ever saved up my own money for. Based on pictures alone, things look nearly identical. however as implied already, you can not trust playmates promotional images. I DO BELEIVE THIS IS SMALLER, just saying that up front. My reasoning has nothing to do with images, the videos playmates put up, or anything else other then the price. Just accounting for inflation, the vintage technodrome would cost around $160-170 in todays money. but toys manufacturing costs have skyrocketed. no way a 1-1 scale replica of the vintage could be produced for under $200 today. So yes, I expect it to be smaller, I would also be prepared for the final product to be missing the few paint apps on the outside of the hemispheres

Im curious if this new one is actually smaller or if the original promo pics were taken with a larger prototype version, it was pretty common for the pictures on the box to not actually match the toy back in the 80s and 90s due to the use of prototypes. I do have an original Sewer Lair and Technodrome brand new in open box. Along with two Blimp II's, cheapskates, and Scout Technodrome new in open box as well. I planned to put them together, but the price on these things keep going up and up and it's got to be worth at least triple what I paid for them several years ago.

  • @lipranditoys

That also means that it probably lost the feature of being able to connect with the sewer playset. If you're a vintage turtles collector today, that means that you're around my age, that also means that most of us have been working for 20 years now. I bought my Technodrome around 15 years ago, the original one, brand new in its box and it was definitely affordable. Why wait for re-releases?
That being said, you're comparing the pictures with a prototype of the old one, not the actual production piece. For an instance: the tunnel entrance to the jail section shown in the vintage picture, it's not how the actual toy was, that entrance looked in fact much closer to that of the reissue.

There does seem to be some differences with the reissue, and it may well be smaller. I've been comparing the images of the reissue on Amazon to various images of the vintage playset that I've found online. But the image that you are using the represent the vintage Technodrome is a promotional image, and I believe that to likely be some kind of early prototype before it was finalized. When comparing that image to photos of the actual vintage Technodrome playset, there are some differences.
Just a few examples... on that vintage promo image, the eye sits on the playset in such a way that you don't see the purple "neck" (for lack of a better term) coming off of it and connecting to the playset. But when looking at pics of the actual vintage set from similar angles, it can be seen.
On the image of the reissue, on the two section of the dome that open up, you see the clips on the top that hold those in place when closing the playset. The actual vintage playset has something similar, though they are black rather than the same color as the rest of the dome. But they are completely missing entirely from the promo image.
Then there is the pipe that you are comparing at about the 3:30 mark. On that vintage promo image shown here, the round pipe shape extends all of the way back right up to where the cage begins. But the actual vintage playset that was released is actually more similar to this reissue where it doesn't extend as far back (there may still be some differences between the vintage and reissue, but it is not as drastic as it is in these pictures). Part of the reason why it ends where it does is so the sides of the dome can close. In looking at that promo/prototype image, I doubt that the sides can close properly from the looks of it. And as a result, I think the sticker inside of that pipe is likely smaller on the actual vintage playset than in that old promo image. Again, there could still be some difference between the reissue and the actual vintage set, but likely not as drastic as this comparison makes it seem.
Also, that vintage promo image completely lacks the red legs/feet that extend down and hold up each of those sections of the dome when it is open (as seen in the new reissue image). The actual vintage playset does have those.

      @Ogles  2 месяца назад +1

Thanks for the detailed examination of it too! And true, I am comparing promotional image to promotional image instead of finished product to finished product so there will be some changes on each image. Like you said though, even looking at pictures of sets on eBay and such there are still some differences between the promotional image of the new set and the old released one. How drastic will just have to be waited on and seen I guess lol. Hopefully it won’t be quite as drastic as it seems. Thanks again for the input!

Its very likely they did not have the old mould anymore or we would have seen it again a lot sooner. These are big steel moulds, that can get lost or damaged. The size difference is awkward but could be result of reverse moulding breaking down an original technodrome.
Still a whole lot better than that Out of the shadows movie Technodrome.

@@Ogles Crazieness. I’m a huge collector of a ton of different things and I will never understand how things like this make grown adults mad. I actually like slight changes to things like this to differentiate new from old. If you are that uptight of a collector then go find the original. @Jpansta some people really do get upset over the smallest things. So this doesn't really make sense. They would have to build a whole new prototype and cast molds to make this smaller technodrome. They aren't going to invest money just to save a little bit. I'm guessing part of the original mold or the while thing was lost or destroyed. They have done this with other reissues like the blimp and the giant sized turtles.

those turtles on the action shot look like they're added in and maybe proportions are off because comparing the two images Raph looks like a 5" figure compared to the OG raph who is smaller. that rear tunnel door in the OG shot is not what was sold in stores back in 1990. The amazon one is how my original one is. After having mine since I was 6yrs old I will say one thing I do like are those connector points on the sides. It looks like it will latch on and hold together well but I worry about opening it...

You need to compare the 'new' technodrome to the actual vintage toy, not the box art. The box art featured the prototype, which was different from the finished toy. The reason Shredder sits lower in his seat on the vintage box photo is because they took his legs off (as they did with Bebop, and you can see his exposed hip 'bones') The stickers etc actually match the vintage toy. So maybe this is a 1-1 scale copy, but they didn't include the eye-clops in the height or something?
