    This song got me into Jethro Tull after hearing it live.

    I've had this song stuck in my head all day. The original was one of my fave Tull songs 30 years ago, and this is damn fine now too.

    While I usually hate covers I actually prefer this to the original and am a huge Tull fan. It might be the metalness of the cover that I like more but this song has been on repeat in my ears for a couple days now.

    The cover appears to show the Varangian Guard (Vikings who guarded the Byzantine - Late Roman - Emperors), since the building is Hagia Sophia...

    When I saw them both at the HMV forum, Alestorm played Back Through Time, and when Turisas came on the realised they had time for an extra song so they played Hunting Pirates! 'Twas awesome :P

    Both versions are great and both do have their charms. In the original, I like the atmosphere a bit more, but in this one I especially prefer the solo-part. Just listen to them one by one, so you're good:)

    a damn good cover! But i echo everyone who believes that the vocals could do with sounding less stiff.
    Am very glad people are doing covers of Tull. A rather underrated band..

    Well i really was not expecting this from them, but it sounds good. Somehow, i can feel this band is in competition with Alestorm with the pirate vs viking thing in the 2011 albums.

    hmm while i like turisas i prefer the original. its much more mellow. and makes reading the wheel of time series of books just that more epic.

      The vocalline is simplified, Ian Anderson also sings it with more emotional depth and charisma; Martin Barre's guitar is also more subtle, and the original has more dynamics - a Tull trademark that is hard to match. This version is a nice hommage, but I can't agree that it's better than the original.

    I'm kinda mixed here, the Tull original is awesome and I like the heavy adaptation of this one but the vocal has no feeling, probably because English is not his first language?

      The vocalist here is very capable of being much more emotional in his singing; I'm not sure why he sang this one so rigidly.

      As a devout Tull fan, this is a fantastic cover. I'm not a huge fan of other Turisas songs but this does the original justice.
