  • #UCLA freshman #AdemBona has been on a heater the past few weeks and is making a good case to be considered one of the top center prospects in the NCAA for the 2023 #NBADraft.

      Really liked this pick for Philly, as well as the Sixers’ draft overall with McCain too.

    probably the most athletic center i’ve ever seen. watching him in pauley pavilion is just different he’ll get these absolutely ridiculous blocks where it looks like he’s taking flight

    • @FloorandCeiling
      @FloorandCeiling  Год назад +3

      I think his athleticism will pop even more in the NBA when he has more space to operate. He can be a two-way spacer catching lobs and blocking shots. But his hands still have to improve imo. Thanks for watching!

    Hopefully, my Mavericks can get these dude, bc I believe he's a perfect fit for Luka and Kyrie

    • @FloorandCeiling
      @FloorandCeiling  Год назад +5

      I feel like the Mavs are more likely to look at Dereck Lively (who I also have a video on).
      In a vacuum, Bona makes sense as a target, but in reality, only if they buy/trade for a second round pick. Right now, it's impossible for him to go in Dallas' expected range. Also, he's yet to officially declare. Other than that, I think there's definitely room for a rim-running, shot-blocking defensive big.

    I'd take him in the late first/early second round. Anywhere after 20 would be reasonable. He's in the priority bet tier for me. I don't feel comfortable enough to say that he will absolutely be an NBA player but he has a lot of the tools that give him a reasonable chance to be one.

    • @FloorandCeiling
      @FloorandCeiling  Год назад +2

      Yeah, he has a great chance at carving out a long, fruitful NBA career in a simple role. Has some flashes of potentially being a bit more with his passing and ballhandling, although it hasn't shown up at UCLA too much. Thanks for watching!

    Great athlete , high ceiling !!!
    BUT ..... He's so raw !!
    He needs to work on his overall game.
    Should he come out after one year?
    Unless he wants to be a 2nd rd pick !!
    I think he needs to stay another year and improve under Coach Cronin and staff.
    I think then he'll be a mid to late first round pick

    • @FloorandCeiling
      @FloorandCeiling  Год назад +2

      Thanks for watching! Yeah, he's still really raw. Also new (broadly speaking since he was at Prolific Prep in Napa before this) to American basketball as well to some extent.
      If a team assures Bona they will draft him, I think he should come out this year. I'm sure staying another year in college under Mick Cronin would help, but this isn't an elite class when it comes to bigs & he has a defined NBA role down the line. Plus, he's an international student so I'm not sure how straightforward NIL $ is for him vs. NBA money.

    This was early to project his draft ranking!! Great vid tho! Measured at 6'8 without shoes in the combine, it will be tougher for him to be a rim protector in the NBA. He still has a great wingspan, big hands, can run the floor well... But I don't think his upside is too high, as I don't see him develop an offensive game that would make him a scorer or a good facilitator at the NBA level... It was early, but in the end I do agree with your projection!

    • @FloorandCeiling
      @FloorandCeiling  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks for watching! I honestly thought Bona should've entered the draft last year. This season, his context as a sophomore wasn't as great. I think he'll surprise some people once he's in a much more simplified role in the NBA where he's feasting on lobs and easy finishes almost strictly set up by others.

      Thanks for watching! There's a couple of interesting options late on in the draft, but this is a pretty shallow center class after a lot of guys returned to school tbh

  • @underthesun312
    @underthesun312 Год назад +5

    Bona needs another year at least to improve his draft position. He could go late first round with one more year in college and make more money as a result.

    • @FloorandCeiling
      @FloorandCeiling  Год назад +2

      Keep in mind he could also make money in college with NIL, but that's always tougher for international students given the restrictions on their visa status. I'm thinking he declares this year. Thanks for watching!

    He's getting better but needs to show that he has a jump shot

    • @FloorandCeiling
      @FloorandCeiling  Год назад +2

      That would really boost his stock but I think he can still be an effective and valuable NBA player even without a jump shot. Plus he’ll be passable at the free throw line.

      No one in the NBA seems to want big men, but the three centers who took the top picks in the 2022 draft (Duren, Mark Williams and, to my surprise, Kessler) are performing well.

    @alvaromartinez-cachero1231 Год назад +6

    Lots of energy and great motor and perhaps some passing ability. But needs to develop some way to score other than just pounding the rim. And a disturbing tendency to commit silly fouls.
    At the moment he's closer to being a Biyombo than an Adebayo.

    • @FloorandCeiling
      @FloorandCeiling  Год назад +2

      The fouls are a definite problem that must be addressed. It’ll probably take some time in the NBA too since the speed of the game is different, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Bona’s rookie season saw him spend a lot of time in the G League. Despite his limitations, I think he can be effective in his role but he doesn’t project as a big to build around to any extent.
